Biden's Student Loan Bailout: A Trillion
Dollar Clusterfark Waiting to Happen

A new model just published by the prestigious — and non-partisan — Penn-Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania shows that rather than the $300 billion number being thrown around by Democrats as the cost of the student debt bailout plan, the true cost is at least $519 billion for debt cancellation alone. And there are other factors to consider, making the total cost of the plan at least $605 billion and perhaps as much as $1 trillion. President Biden’s new student loan forgiveness plan includes three major components. We estimate that debt cancellation alone will cost up to $519 billion,

Anyone who wants to argue over this clusterfark had better be ready to discuss the $15 TRILLION tossed into the economy in the Great COVIDS War, from stimulus, PPP, other business subsidies and the wonderful Operation Warp Speed bringing the world safe and effective vaccines, etc. etc. Very few complained about THAT. What's another TRILLION or two? Then we can discuss the easy money policies used by the Fed to perpetually stimulate the economy, until one bubble created (like housing) or another (like the stock market) bursts. The damage has been done - seen those inflation numbers? Somehow, that's all supposed to be "different"? It's not.

A registered sex offender in Florida was apparently looking to pick up his next victim like he would a loaf of bread by offering a parent $100,000 to purchase their young daughter while strolling through a Winn Dixie grocery store last week. The same man reportedly offered to plunk down double the money in 2018 in exchange for another woman’s 8-year-old child, according to a Fox 35 report at the time. Police reported that they began the thorough investigation into the alleged actions of Austrian native Hellmuth Kolb after “the parent’s clear concern that someone was insistent on attempting to purchase their daughter in a grocery store.”

On Thursday, California Air Resources Board approved a regulation banning new sales of gas-powered vehicles, as my RedState colleague reported. The regulations require all new cars, trucks, and SUVs to be powered by electricity or hydrogen by 2035, with one-fifth permitted to be plug-in hybrid vehicles. The plan stems from CA Governor Gavin Newsom’s executive order signed nearly two years ago. But, the newly approved plan doesn’t just impact the Golden State, it puts 17 other states including Virginia on a path to adopt the regulations. After the CARB adopted the new regulation Newsom made a statement calling the forced changes on the consumer markets “revolutionary.”

Rep. Charlie Crist, who is once again the Democratic gubernatorial nominee in Florida, has had quite the week since winning Tuesday night's primary. As Spencer covered, on Wednesday he had his own "basket of deplorables" moment, saying he didn't want votes from Gov. Ron DeSantis' supporters. Then on Friday it was revealed he was going to choose Karla Hernández-Mats as his running mate, the president of United Teachers of Dade. According to John Kennedy with the Tallahassee Democrat, she heads the largest teachers union in the Southeast. Kennedy's report highlights a few examples of Crist and Hernández-Mats' remarks,

A sarcastic new ad being rolled out nationwide captures the unfairness of Joe Biden’s executive order that forces hardworking, responsible Americans to assume the student loan debt of college grads. “This is awful policy and there’s real resentment brewing,” said Dan Conston, president of the American Action Network (ANN), the non-profit behind the ad. “Working Americans shouldn’t have to foot the bill for a handout to coddled elite college graduates who don’t like having to pay what they owe.” The ad was designed to “[showcase] how Biden’s bailout for rich kids with college degrees will be paid for on the backs of working families,” according to a statement on the ANN website.

With the news that the FBI told agents to ignore the issue of Hunter Biden’s laptop prior to the 2020 presidential race, the suppression of the laptop story on social media, and the release of the redacted search warrant affidavit on Mar-A-Lago, there is another story involving Trump that is hanging out quietly below the fold. Just the News has the story of Aimee Harris and Robert Kurlander, who entered guilty pleas to stealing Ashley Biden’s diary and selling it to James O’Keefe and Project Veritas. An op-ed in the Washington Post has argued that men in women’s sports could actually be a good thing for young girls by teaching them the art of losing gracefully. According to Alyssa Rosenberg, the aim of school athletics is not to teach children the art of achieving excellence but rather to build character, and what better way to build character in a teenage girl than having her experience the frustration of losing that championship title to a biological male? Her argument largely hinges on the unicorn of “sports-crazed parents” who will theoretically use transgender athletes in women’s sports as an excuse in the event their daughter loses.

Surprise, surprise. It wasn’t the social media platforms alone that censored the Hunter Biden laptop story before the election. No, the FBI asked Facebook to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story before the 2020 election, calling it Russian disinformation. The laptop contained the disgusting details of Hunter’s sex and drug life, business dealings, and evidence of big paydays from Ukraine and China–all of which presented a national security risk to the U.S.

Biden canceled up to $10,000 in student debt for borrowers who earn $125,000 a year or less and up to $20,000 for recipients of Pell Grants, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.” NBC News reported. Biden claimed ‘canceling’ student loan debt (AKA transferring the debt to the middle class) won’t have any “meaningful effect on inflation.” Then he dropped this gem… Biden said blacks and Hispanics don’t own homes. “The burden is especially heavy on black and Hispanic borrowers who on average have less family wealth to pay for it,” said Biden.

President Joe Biden caved to radical leftists on Wednesday and decided to move ahead with "forgiving" billions of dollars in federal student loan debt at a cost of more than $300 billion to American taxpayers — whether or not they attended college, had student loans, or had already paid back their own loans. Despite House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's April declaration that the president did not have such authority to do anything but "postpone" federal loan repayment, Biden plunged ahead in something of a last-ditch attempt to motivate Democrat voters ahead of the midterms with some action from the Oval Office.

FERC released the final version of the environmental impact statement evaluating the dam demolition plan. FERC commissioners will vote on whether or not to implement the plan later this year. The dam’s operators filed an application to surrender the Lower Klamath Hydroelectric Project on Nov. 17, 2020. In the transition from gas-powered vehicles to electric, the fuel every automaker is after these days is cold hard cash. Established automakers and startups alike are rolling out new battery-powered models in an effort to meet growing demand. Ramping up production of a new model was already a fraught and expensive process, but rising material costs and tricky regulations for federal incentives are squeezing coffers even further. Prices of the raw materials used in many electric-vehicle batteries — lithium, nickel and cobalt — have soared over the last two years as demand has skyrocketed, and it may be several years before miners

It's only a day since we reported on California’s intention to outlaw sales of new combustion-engined vehicles from 2035, and already the ripples are being felt across the nation. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) that governs motor vehicle emissions for the state adopted new rules that will require 35% of the new cars sold in the state are electric or plug-in hybrids by 2026, with that percentage rising to 68% by 2030 and 100% by 2035. California has a waiver from the federal government to set its own air quality rules, and other states are allowed to opt into its regulations, which are typically more stringent than the national standards.
