One of former President Donald Trump’s strongest and most endearing personality traits is his relentless sense of humor. He’s a very funny guy. Depending on the day’s events and available subject matter, a television interview can come across like a sitcom script, sprinkled amongst some profound takes on political topics, and rants at some of his rallies can rival those of some of today’s best stand-up comedians.
We’ve had humorous presidents before, with Ronald Reagan quickly coming to mind, but none at the level of Trump. And despite the intense friction in today’s political climate and national tensions having been ratcheted to previously unseen levels after last week’s outrageous Mar-a-Lago Raid,

I always enjoy hearing what Trump has to say. I really don’t understand why he upsets people who are opposed to destroying our free institutions. Jerry naddlebumb is quick witted the woman is the better man.

I voted for Trump in both previous elections and would vote for him again, but frankly he needs to decide whether he wants to be Don Rickles or the President of the United States. You can't be both and run this country effectively. As schadenfreudily funny as he can be, his incessant needling of people creates and exacerbates non-ending hostility and open warfare.
Sorry. Not sorry. This type of needling has to end. We need competence and affective leadership more than we need revenge.

#2 Undies in a tizzy? Trump uses this "humor" knowing how the Democrats will respond. He's uses it to manipulate their "action". If he wants them to "raid" his home, he knows what to say for them to react a certain way. The military uses these tactics too. Psychological Operations. It comes with the Territory. So yes you can do both to run a country. I love his humor and cuts. Keeps them on their toes too.

I share sentiments similar to Poster #2 - yes, we need competence and Effective leadership. But who is this effective, competent leadership? And how has the totality of competence and effectiveness in the GOP spared us from the never-ending assaults on our constitution, our history, our moral foundations, our children, and TRUTH? Folks, we are in big trouble. Donald Trump is not perfect. He doesn't have all the answers and he has made some stupid mistakes. But he has endeared himself to many of us because he is willing to fight and take strong action against our enemies, foreign and domestic. Mocking the evil is perhaps the most effective way to call them out and make them own their collectivist, hedonistic ways.
I am ready to listen to suggestions regarding anyone else who can be more effective than Trump in a) winning an election and b) following through on promises.
May God bless and protect our nation and our 45th President.

Most of the Left are humorless scolds. When Trump uses humor against them it's akin to describing long division to a really dumb tree squirrel. It can't comprehend it and will lash out. Or wander away play with it's nuts and pout.

He does this because he knows that demonrats have no sense of humor. He’s much more subtle about trashing them than any of them are in trashing him. They don’t even understand that they’ve been trashed.
The funniest part of this is that it all goes back to the fact that PDT denied Hillary her coronation.

Democrats have zero sense of humor except for bathroom jokes. Trump plays on that and is a master at it.
It does my heart good to see their self-righteous little selves so upset by Trump poking fun at them. And he does it with such aplomb!

I used to follow PDT when he was on 'twit' and he was making those 'mean' tweets, as many, including my daughter, used to claim. His tweets were mild, next to nothing, even bland, compared to many of the replying tweets by the dem bots. Dems replies were the ugliest, most vulgar name calling tweets, so naturally, they weren't banned. His ability to troll the humorless dems is a stroke of genius, we need to openly laugh at the clowns and make fun of them. Point out their stupidity and let everyone laugh at them.

Reason # 3478 why I like the guy. A couple others.....the picture of President Trump walking out on stage at one of his rallies and stopping to greet an veteran with artificial arms. Mr. Trump reached up and touched the smiling mans face, and during the 2016 republican debates the candidates were being announced when Dr. Carson was over looked and was walked passed by Se. Cruz. They announced Mr. Trump but he stooped and let Dr. Carson take his place. MAGA.

Trump masterfully turns their hatred of him back on them and its wonderful to behold! He can go 'Don Rickles' on the enemy and still govern very effectively.

#2.... well lets let the powers that be run you and yours through the meat grinder for 6 years and see what kind of humor would make you laugh. AGAIN never before has a man and his entire family been smeared lied about investigated as has President Trump. For crying out loud can we please stop with the ankle nipping and get on with taking America back?

Thank you #12 for reminding us of that moment with Dr. Carson. It was so subtle and quiet, but spoke volumes to me about who Donald Trump really is. I can only imagine how that gesture impacted Carson. Such a beautiful little gem.

#2, so then you would support Mike Pence? Aren't you in a round-a-bout way saying Trump should play nice and not needle people? When, in fact, the minute he took the presidency, they have been needling him?

Are we the party #2 and #4 that we as soldiers shoot at each other and forget we have an enemy, The Left, Communists and Evil? Personally, I love President Trump making me laugh. He deserves that right to make jokes since a previous poster stated the hell the Left has put him through these last 6 years. Making jokes alleviates the stress and the attacks one is going through! Many people do that when going through stressful times. What do you want him to do? Curl up in a ball? We have a multi-faceted president and I love it!
p.s. #2 President Ronald Reagan made jokes all the time. He was likable, funny and effective. And so is President Trump.

To clear up any confusion, my post #4 was intended to show that despite his flaws, President Trump is the man for our time. Poster #2 can make suggestions for a candidate who would be more effective, but I doubt that any name that surfaces will be someone who can beat Joe Biden or Kamala Harris in a fair election. Or any other Prog. I am not blind to Trump's shortcomings. I just don't see an alternative who has any chance of winning. And Trump has a long list of promises kept.

I can hear the Democrats now: Trump is committing internet stalking and abuse. It is psychologically the same as physically assaulting someone. I'm sure that AOC will need to see her therapist now that she has been endorsed by Trump.

I like the humor especially if you've seen Nadler sitting down in the debate and listening to him, the man is worse than drunk Nancy Pelosi. The humor that Trump presented was spot on. I liked mean tweets when he was in office here's what I think of the Trump presidency. Growing up in the early fifties all I could judge of politics were how successful my parents were and happy Eisenhower was famous, well know from WWII, but was he a great President? As years flowed by, I had some views of good presidents or what I thought was good. I didn't get to vote for Barry Goldwater, but I knew he would have been good for the nation time passed until Ronald Reagan became President there was more hope to go along with him. After horrible decades of presidents including Bush, we finally elected a man who could fix this wrecked nation left over by previous shysters. This was Donald Trump, being old and remembering the past Trump was the real fixer with four years of progress, no wars and great foreign policy only to be stabbed in the back by evil doers. I'll stand by Trump because I know what he can do as a President, so I say hit the enemy hard and every chance you get Mr. Trump.

I'm on board with characterizing some of his tactics under the humor umbrella, a far better description than the "fighter" characterization that is often tossed around. A key accept of leadership is the ability to convince others to follow a course of action about which they may instinctively disagree. An example of that was Ronald Reagan in the decade after Watergate and the Vietnam war, in the midst of a military drawdown, convincing a broad cross section of the American people and many liberals in Congress, that the U.S. needed to rebuild its military, including a six hundred ship Navy. In addition, he evangelized the benefits of supply-side economics, that held tax cuts as a way to boost revenue to allow for investments that did not place a burden on middle class Americans. He was successful in doing so, including boosting the morale of our service men and women, resulting in the demise of the Soviet Union and an economy, despite the liberal cries of "Reganonomics" in the early 80s, that got inflation under control, and was robust enough to survive the two administrations that followed his. Even Bill Clinton's administration benefited from the strong economy and many of our 401Ks saw returns of 30 percent and higher. Even Donald Trump, the businessman, benefited from Reagan's policies. Humor was a key component of his leadership but so was the ability to lay out a vision of a future for our country, one that only schmucks would openly oppose. While Reagan wasn't perfect, he was a very effective leader. There are a ton of parallels between Trump and Reagan, both very good and sometimes bad. If Trump could do things that would expand his base, he'd be the Greatest of All Time.

I frankly find it discouraging that fellow conservatives take any criticism or, in my case, suggestion for a change in certain behavior by President Trump, to indicate repudiation, lack of support, or desire for another candidate (Mike Pence?? get serious). I started by stating outright I voted twice for him and will again if he's our nominee.
But I'm suggesting that what he's doing now isn't "humor", it's needling. And it incites anger, not only in his targets but also in many other people who view it as childish and needlessly antagonistic. People who would otherwise vote for him. I want him to get those votes.
Ronald Reagan used humor. This isn't Ronald Reagan style humor. And ultimately, it's counterproductive.
