With inflation raging and the shadow of recession looming, it’s difficult to envision a worse time to pass a tax-and-spend bill like the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Yet, that’s just what Senate Democrats did Sunday. It’s even harder to imagine that “moderate” Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), both of whom voted for the bill, believe it will live up to its Orwellian name. If so, they are at odds with the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), hundreds of economists, millions of Americans, and even Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

The Democrats and Lame Duck Joe own the growth of inflation and shrinkflation resulting from the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act. No Joke. Everyone will be affected. Raising taxes while in an economic downturn is Hooveresque to say the least, and the time that Hoover did the exact same thing as the IRA the Great Depression of the 1930s occurred. Stock up on canned goods and any products that can be stored as we are in for a real donneybrook of economic disorder.

Bernie may not have liked it, but he sure as hell voted for it. I'm sure it wasn't the spending he didn't like; probably more like the energy stuff or something that might have had some positive affect, albeit fleeting. I wonder if they buried a firearms tax in this bill? If you pay the tax you admit to gun ownership and if you fail to pay and they find out, they come and confiscate your guns. Maybe this is why they added 87,000 new agents and purchased millions of rounds of ammo?

Honestly, is anyone shocked at this plain display of politics? Schumer met their prices, and it's done. Now we see how the spoils are divvied. Don't be surprised to find the energy (formerly oil and coal) companies played a big part. It's not whether inflation is tamed, spending is the order of the day...almost $800 billion. And that ain't hay.

There has to be one, right? The FBI doesn’t just go to a federal judge for a search warrant for the home of a former president on its own — and presumably a federal judge doesn’t just casually sign off on such a request, either. NBC’s Ken Dilanian urges caution in jumping to conclusions at this point, but states the obvious when saying that this had to have gotten approved by Attorney General Merrick Garland prior to the raid on Mar-a-Lago:(Snip) Dilanian’s correct that it’s no small matter to get a federal judge to sign off on a warrant, let alone one targeting a former president who

Banks' RSC office is circulating a memo highlighting 50 points Republicans say are reasons to vote against the bill. They range from $3 billion in spending on electric vehicles for the U.S. Postal Service to grants to "utilize diet and feed management to reduce enteric methane emissions from ruminants" – in other words, cow farts. "Democrats in Congress aren’t damaging American’s pocketbooks—they are trying to damage their way of life," Banks, R-Ind.,

Senator Elizabeth Warren told NBC News Tuesday night that she will not vote for a newly-introduced bipartisan bill that would enshrine federal abortion protections after the Supreme Court's recent ruling overturning Roe v. Pressed on if this was a question of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good on this, she said “the problem here is this bill is not an obvious improvement over where we stand right now.”

The American left has plenty to complain about these days. Liberals who support standard Democratic Party platform planks such as legal abortion, more gun control, and public schools over private schools or homeschooling, have been drenched in bad news coming from various Supreme Court cases and polls showing a widespread rejection of their agenda in the coming elections. There is plenty of blame to go around, at least in their minds. The conservative majority on the Supreme Court is near the top of the list of villains for many. In Virginia’s 2021 gubernatorial contest Democrat Terry McAuliffe based his campaign on the fiction that Republican Glenn Youngkin was a “Trump wannabe.” McAuliffe lost in a state Biden had carried by 10 points. Six months later, in the special election held to fill Texas’ 34th Congressional District, Democrat Dan Sanchez pursued the same strategy against “Trump loyalist” Mayra Flores. Sanchez became the first Democrat in well over a century to lose in the Rio Grande Valley. These two races were just the most visible of several contests that reveal a reality the Democrats need to face.

Thursday morning, the Commerce Department admitted what most Americans already knew — the nation is in the midst of a recession. The economy has contracted for the second consecutive quarter this year. During the first quarter, gross domestic product (GDP) shrank by 1.6 percent, and it shriveled another 0.9 percent during the quarter that just ended. Thus, the Biden economy now meets the standard benchmark economists have used for decades to define “recession.” Inevitably, the White House, its accomplices in Congress, and the corporate media are again trying to gaslight the voters.

On Monday evening, the FBI took the unprecedented step of raiding the home of former President Donald Trump. What were they looking for? Astonishingly, what is being leaked to the media is that they were after documents that possibly violated the Presidential Records Act. Far from their promises of proving some grand conspiracy involving January 6th, it appears the Democrats, using the power of the nation’s federal law enforcement apparatus, are trying to take Donald Trump out with selective enforcement of provisions that are normally handled in a civil, not criminal manner. Where have we seen that before? None of this is a coincidence, and none of it is justified.
