During the COVID-19 pandemic, it seemed like everyone knew a co-worker fleeing the Bay Area. Now, a new report out of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago shows just how much the exodus is gaining steam. Only Illinois ranked worse off than the Golden State when it came to moving vans heading for the border during the pandemic, according to the report, which focused on data from the moving company United Van Lines. In 2018-19, 56% of moves in California were families fleeing the state. In 2020-21, that figure jumped to nearly 60%. The state that was by far the

As long as Brylcream Boy is governor and democrats have a stranglehold in government. That’s how long it will last. I’m 72 and born and raised here and our French Laundry Governor is no Pete Wilson or Ronald Reagan. Now here’s running for President!!!???!!! Hahahaha! Go for it!

Don't ask Newome gruesome any questions. He feels that the rest of the country wants to emulate what CA looks like, feels like, and is like. Do we have only mentally challenged people in this country who want to run for 'president'????

My kids grew up near San Francisco and were always proud of that fact. Recently my daughter went back on a vacation and was so disgusted that she vowed never to return. With so many Americans leaving the land and housing will be so much easier and cheaper for the Chinese to move in.

Tech hubs like Silicon Valley are the center of the crisis, she said, as remote work opportunities paired with rising housing costs are driving young workers away. In Santa Clara County, soaring rents have not been checked by the pandemic, rising another 6.3% in 2021, according to a report from the California Housing Partnership.
A friend’s home in that area, bought for $700,000 not many years ago. ended up selling for more than twice that, and quickly. So there is movement both ways. Many leaving came to California for higher wage jobs. only to find out that they were not windfalls...
"For the longest time, Silicon Valley was the place where tech workers could earn the highest salary," Fairweather said, pointing out that the unique employment opportunities helped counterbalance sky-high housing costs. But once employees begin to leave, she said, the effects can spiral. "When your co-workers start working remotely, the benefits from a networking and interaction perspective go down, and that's what we're starting to see."

Why don't we just return California to Mexico. The illegal population is heading it in that direction.

What is not mentioned in this article is the cost of living and expenses. Last week I had to spend a night in LA and I felt like I was being ripped off every place I went. Beer selling by the ounces. Every time I went out the door, I could count on spending $150. I will never return and if I do, it will be at gun point. Total mess.

I had an aunt and uncle that lived there. The state took a couple of fairly normal people and turned them into a couple of wackos.

Not actually an exodus. But not really an invasion, either. More like societal ebola; and people moving out are spreading the cultural disease of California everywhere. Stop Californicating Texas, already.

(to clarify #17, many have said all the moving from CA was aimed to turn Red states Blue, particularly FL and TX, calling it an invasion instead of an exodus... Of course what's happening at the U.S.'s southern border IS an invasion, though...)
