The New York Police department is looking for a gang of thieves who have been tearing around the Bronx and Manhattan and snatching thousands of dollars in jewelry off of unsuspecting pedestrians. Five crimes fitting the same description occurred across the two boroughs in broad daylight between March 18 and April 17. The first crime happened on March 18 at 12:38pm in the afternoon. A pair of men on a black motor scooter rode up to a 47-year-old male on East Fordham Road in Fordham Heights in the Bronx. The thieves snagged an $8,000 gold chain from the victim's neck before riding off, according to police.

Comments:

USA slips and slides proudly into Third Worldism. Here, the scooter gangs commonplace in Londonistan lend a bit more international flavor to the sidewalks of the Rotten Apple. Don't worry; Celebrity Mayor Adams remains perfectly safe with his armed security detail.

I remember this happening in NYC during the Carter administration when the price of gold skyrocketed due to insane inflation, gas lines and mortgage interest rates in the teens. The only difference is that back then, they didn’t use scooters - they used bicycles.

Since the glory days of the Medellin and Cali cartels, the worst criminals have been known to strike in pairs on one motor scooter. If you're in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central or South America and see two riders on a moto, beware. They might be either robbers or killers. Pablo Escobar, especially, liked employing assassins on motos.

The Bank of England chief today issued an 'apocalyptic' warning about soaring food prices and said he felt 'helpless' in the fight against inflation as he told MPs the Ukraine war could yet deepen the cost-of-living crisis. Governor Andrew Bailey revealed how further food inflation was a 'major worry' for the central bank, with particular concerns about wheat and cooking oil. He also warned that a ‘very real income shock’ is coming this year as prices spiral at the fastest rate in 30 years and make millions of people poorer in real terms—and that surging inflation would hit household spending, causing unemployment to rise. Making use of crypto technology’s “blockchain” to store birth certificates, property deeds and other government documents is “the way of the future,” according to New York City Mayor Eric Adams. “To have, to use blockchain from everything—to look at deeds, to deal with birth certificates, other records, this is the way of the future and we’re excited about it,” Adams told a room full of cryptocurrency investors on Monday. Backers of the idea argue that storing one-of-a-kind government documents on a digital ledger—in a similar manner to NFTs—would cut down on administrative costs and fraud.(Snip)Adams has long promoted cryptocurrencies and related technologies,
