With vehicle deaths on the rise, President Joe Biden's administration is steering $5 billion in federal funds to slow down cars via more speed cameras, carve out bike paths and wider sidewalks and urging commuters to public transit. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Monday announced the availability of money over five years under his department's new Safe Streets & Roads for All program. The aim will be to provide a direct infusion of federal cash to communities that pledge to promote safety for the multiple users of a roadway, particularly pedestrians and bicyclists. Monday marks the six-month anniversary of President Biden's signing of bipartisan infrastructure legislation.

$5 billion is chump change within more than a TRILLION (1000 billions). The scale of government spending is beyond breathtaking...now, about inflation...don't worry, it's merely transitory...for years out!

But no money to finish the southern border and slow the flow of drugs, criminals, millions of people we cannot absorb and possible terrorists.

The puppeteers pulling Brandon's strings actually think that spending more money will end, rather than exacerbate, this inflationary spiral we're in. They're morons. Econ. 101 should be mandatory for anyone to graduate from college.

Colorado went down the bike late rabbit hole a while back. Now we have narrower car lanes, some roads have been reduced to one lane from two, and mostly unused bike lanes taking up space formerly used by cars.

I once saw a horrible accident between a bus and a cyclist.
This is NOT a good idea.....for the lives and health of people.
In Utah the drivers (buses included) are so agressive, blowing thru red lights, that pedestrians take their lives into their hands just trying to cross a street at a crosswalk during a green light!

Nothing coming from Brandon's administration has improved our lives. Nothing!
It's gaggle of cry babies all screaming for, and getting, their fantasies fulfilled.

How about $5B for increased border security. Really this is $5B for unions to soak up and funnel back as campaign donations.

Almost every time Biden opens his mouth he announces that he is spending billions of dollars on some new federal program that ends up expanding the federal government, and that after the first big burst of federal expending ends up costing States and Municipalities big bucks.

My gosh! The Biden is onto something that the country really needs to solve immigration, inflation, the war in Ukraine, and the common cold.

It's bipartisan, meaning both sides of the coin got paid off. Meanwhile our bipartisans are looting the treasury to send eight times that amount to the criminals in the Ukraine, paying their government salaries and no one knows what else, with fat percentages in cash no doubt returned to our esteemed ruling class, who like to go there in person to collect.
