FDA, Biden ‘dropped the ball’ on baby
formula crisis, experts say

The FDA "dropped the ball" on the country’s baby-formula crisis—shutting down a crucial plant on top of product recalls and then not warning parents of the ramifications, experts told The Post on Friday. Desperate moms and dads have been trawling stores across the country in search of baby formula ever since mega-manufacturer Abbott issued a safety recall in February for products made at its plant in Sturgis, Mich., over contamination concerns.(Snip)“That’s where the FDA and Abbott dropped the ball. … They could have recalled the product without shutting the facility. They do recalls all the time without shutting the facility down.”

Comments:

*, Jack Morphet, and Emily Crane
A key mission of the FDA is to do surprise inspections and capricious shutdowns just like this one, with the end result being that companies shift production to India or China or some other third-world paradise where there are no inspections at all of the facilities or of the imported product. Rick "Gov. Goodhair" Perry was rightly mocked during the 2016 GOP debates when he couldn't name even one of the three government agencies he said he'd shut down. And yet President Trump didn't shut anything down either, and now we have a ruinously expensive weaponized government apparatus doing to us whatever they please with absolute impunity.

From what I read earlier in the week, no illness or infections had occurred because of the bacteria(s) found in the plant it was the FDA being over cautious. OP makes a great point about overseas mfgs not being held to the same high standards.

This, feeding our babies, is a huge issue with women left, right, and center. Nothing more primal than nurturing our offspring even amongst the pro baby murdering crowd. I guess Biden, Buttboy etc were too busy smooching Zelensky's butt to pay attention to this obvious crisis.. or (my money is on this) they do not care about American babies. We are expendable to our Elites. Gotta CULL the herd in their opinion.

I’m no expert or biologist, but anyone paying the slightest bit of attention knows the FDA closed the biggest baby formula plant in Michigan for a bogus reason. The FDA should have foreseen the impact but it’s hard to keep up when you’ve got your head up your ass.

I’m not sure Bidiot dropped anything, since “nothing from nothing leaves nothing.” Plus which, he is not in charge, and I don’t think The Kommittee “dropped” the ball. I think this may be by design — creating fear and confusion. Plus which, I am visiting The Swamp and there is already a soft undercurrent about COVID ramping up. Getting prepared for a chaotic Fall so they can skew the elections?

Let's place the blame for the baby formula shortages where it belongs. Baby formula shortages are on Abbott and on the federal government, but not on the FDA. The FDA did not mandate that Abbott shut down its Sturgis, Michigan plant. It can be argued that the FDA has been too lenient regarding Abbott's Sturgis, Michigan plant, as Abbott has been cited by the FDA many times since 2019 regarding (outrageous) unsanitary practices with regard to its baby formulas. But there is no apparent evidence that the FDA's leniency regarding Abbott's Sturgis plant has contributed to the current baby formula shortages. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/abbott-infant-formula-plant-found-unsanitary-before-recall/ar-AAVn8Ex It appears that the FDA does not post recalls it does not mandate. https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/enforcement-reports#pending

When a company announces a voluntary recall, market withdrawal, or safety alert, the FDA posts the company's announcement as a public service. https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/abbott-voluntarily-recalls-powder-formulas-manufactured-one-plant

So far it’s the only military academy imposing such harsh penalties on its cadets, Air Force officials said. The cadets at the Colorado Springs academy also could be prevented from being commissioned as military officers this month because they refused the COVID-19 vaccine. They may also have to pay back thousands of dollars in tuition costs, the Air Force said. The Army and Navy said that as of now, no seniors will be blocked from graduating at the U.S. Military Academy

In the age of Trump, the name’s staying power appears to have waned, and George P. Bush may be the latest casualty.
