Biden to visit Javelin missile factory

President Biden next week will visit a Javelin anti-tank missile factory in Alabama, the White House announced Wednesday, the source of a weapon that is playing a key role in Ukraine’s defense against a two-month-old Russian invasion. Mr. Biden will visit the Lockheed Martin facility amid concerns that the U.S. is depleting its supply of long-range, guided Javelin missiles as it continues to ship the weapons to Kyiv to fend off Russian tanks. The White House did not offer any further details about the trip. The visit comes as lawmakers raise concerns about the U.S.’s Javelin missile supply, which has dropped 33% since the Ukraine

Comments:

Maybe Joe can paint "To Vlad With Love From the USA" on the missiles just to rub it in even more. The junta desperately wants to drag us into a hot war with Russia right now, safe in the knowledge that none of their children will be killed.

If producing weapons for defense is only a smoke screen for getting into a war, then isn't the domestic production of weapons for self-defense only a smoke screen for crime? I mean, why do we need a second amendment, if the manufacture and possession of weapons only leads to their illegitimate use?

No doubt there will be a lot of taxpayers money floating around as a result of the arming of Ukraine. It will be the US military-industrial complex that will be hauling in most of the money with some big under the table cut outs for politicians. That’s how DC corruption works. The new military material that will be manufactured in the USA not only will go directly to Ukraine, but to replenish US war stocks, and also to “backfill” NATO war stocks to reimburse the NATO countries with new American made equipment and weapons to replace all the old Soviet era equipment and weapons that they sent to Ukraine. The American taxpayer will pick up the tab for that. Just the other day Ukrainian President Zerensky said the Ukraine will need about seven billion dollars a month to rebuild Ukraine. You can bet the most of that money will come from the USA. If you think that Biden and the Congress are going to follow that money to stop corrupt spin offs to both Ukrainian and USA politicians and entities, you will have another thing coming!

While praying the worst days of the COVID-19 pandemic are behind us, global health officials warn to be vigilant about other potential outbreaks—this time, measles. Cases of the disease spiked 79% during the first two months of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021, according to a joint statement issued by the World Health Organization and UNICEF. Experts fear that all the time spent indoors during the pandemic—and people who aren’t vaccinated against measles—poses risks for the youngest among us, creating a “perfect storm” for outbreaks.(Snip)The new surge comes as world health agencies are also investigating mysterious clusters of pediatric liver disease, or hepatitis

The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday issued rules that will prohibit menthol-flavored cigarettes and any flavor other than tobacco in cigars. The administration said the ban was necessary because the minty flavor of menthol ameliorates the harsh edge of tobacco and appeals to young people. “The proposed rules would help prevent children from becoming the next generation of smokers and help adult smokers quit,” Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said. “Additionally, the proposed rules represent an important step to advance health equity by significantly reducing tobacco-related health disparities.”(Snip)The FDA said it is acting within its authority and building on actions in 2009

President Joe Biden is banning traditional incandescent lightbulbs in a push to be more energy efficient, but critics claim the switch to LED alternatives will prove costly for poorer Americans. The Department of Energy (DOE) adopted two new rules Tuesday that strengthen energy efficiency standards for lightbulbs and will effectively phase out the sale of traditional bulbs by next year. However, consumer analysts allege that not only are LED bulbs more expensive, costing nearly $4 each as opposed to $1 for an incandescent bulb, but are often not stocked in stores in lower-income communities. Around 30 percent of the two billion bulbs sold in the US every year are incandescent.
