FDA writes rules to prohibit menthol cigs

The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday issued rules that will prohibit menthol-flavored cigarettes and any flavor other than tobacco in cigars. The administration said the ban was necessary because the minty flavor of menthol ameliorates the harsh edge of tobacco and appeals to young people. “The proposed rules would help prevent children from becoming the next generation of smokers and help adult smokers quit,” Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said. “Additionally, the proposed rules represent an important step to advance health equity by significantly reducing tobacco-related health disparities.”(Snip)The FDA said it is acting within its authority and building on actions in 2009

And of course, someone will start selling flavored oils that can be painted on cigarettes or cigars, which would defeat the purpose. And then FDA would need to hire a few more hundred regulation enforcers and scientists to study it all the more. Meanwhile, fentanyl flows freely across the border the Democrats and the Republicans refuse to enforce. Shut down the FDA.

The Dems are all in for smoking weed but somehow think tobacco is worse. Acid and Tatiana both make an excellent selection of flavored cigars. Quite good and quite expensive. The nanny state craves power and they lust to force others to do as they say. I wish that they would just leave me the hell alone.

My Dad owned a NY luncheonette, in the front we had a newpaper/magazine stand and a cigarette/cigar counter. I worked there for years. Blacks mostly bought Cools, Newport's and other menthol-flavored cigarettes, young white people bought Marlboro, older whites bought Winston and non-filtered. Of course, there were exceptions. Good I hope the D'Rats lose more of the black vote because of this stupid law.

Wait! I thought 1 out of every 5 Black households is situated in a food desert, with few grocery stores, restaurants, and farmers markets. And now we want to make it so that 5 of every 5 Black households will be situated in a menthol desert? Why are we prohibiting our black neighbors from enjoying the legal products that satisfy them and contribute to their Black pride? Geez. This is funny in more ways than one: Every single time I typed in "menthol desert", autocorrect changed it to "mental desert." Hahaha Maybe autocorrect is way smarter than all of us! The TV "news" reported tonight that the reason the FDA wants to ban menthol cigarettes was because the black population is attracted to that product. Therefore, menthol cigarettes must be racist by enticing blacks to use a product that will cause health issues. Using that logic perhaps the FDA should ban cheap malt liquor also!
