Dems new mantra is violent crimes are all due to mental health issues. And don't dare lock-up the offenders - they just need to see a counselor.

How will Klobuchar (D) decide the best approach to further assist carjackers in preying on people while avoiding any consequence? Democrats are evil. Liberalism is a hate crime. .

with the average cost of a car now MORE than the average cost of a House when I was a "wayward Yute"....Treat it like the $50k Felony it is, car financing is about 48 months, send them to Prison for a similar amount of time. Nearly all of the carjackers are multiple repeat offenders, each one off the streets reduces the number of incidences exponentially. If/When they use a Gun? 5 years minimum for that charge alone. If/When they are involved in a chase/eluding? NO BAIL...FLIGHT RISK. Charge them with EVERY traffic violation committed during their entire time behind the wheel, every speeding segment, every stop sign/light violation, every endangerment/reckless driving instance, school zone violation, prosecute fully, stack up 100 tickets on them and charge the full amount in fines, NO license until all fines are paid. There are "reasons" that even in the Wild Wild West horses "parked" on the street could be left saddled, with only a rein looped over the hitchrail and they would remain unmolested all day/night. "Penalty for violation" was sufficiently severe that even people willing to draw iron over a wink wouldn't steal a horse, a body could make an argument whether shooting someone was justified, none at all for being on someone else's horse.

D'Rats are really dumb. Anybody that would carjack a car a presumably murder the occupant is a narcistic sociopath with server sociological and phycological problems. They have don't have the ability to feel remorse or contrition. They need to be off the streets because they are untreatable. Sociopaths do not become productive members of society. Why do dims always want to form committees and roundtables to talk everything to death? They are ALWAYS all talk but no action unless 'action' means to throw money at the problem....money that ends up anywhere except where taxpayers assume it's going. The simplest solution which requires no discussion at all is found at post #12. Hire more police but allow them to actually do the job for which they are hired. I guess Amy wants to appear as if she's doing something in order to burnish her "creds" for 2024.

Yes manufacture a problem like car jackings and other robberies after defund the police campaigns, then cry outrage over increases in carjacking and robberies. Then organize an event like this to point out the problem and claim innocence, then blame republicans, and come up with new innovative solutions which will never work. Go ahead and send out immediate response social worker teams loaded with Starbucks gift cards, free phones, and gift certificates to McDonalds and Walmart to help the situation.

The U.S. economy’s latest report card -- featuring fresh readouts on growth, inflation, spending and wages in the first three months of the year -- is set to include a mix of good and bad marks. The headline measure of first-quarter economic growth will appear weak, perhaps even negative, as a ballooning trade deficit and slower inventory growth masked solid consumer spending. Income gains in March were likely erased by an acceleration in inflation. Resilient consumption, robust business investment, firmer wage growth and the fastest price gains in decades lend support to a more aggressive policy response from the Federal

LONGVIEW — In 2019, Washington created one of the most generous college financial aid programs in the country. Compared with a program it replaced, the Washington College Grant allowed many more students to qualify for free or subsidized tuition. No longer would eligible students be denied aid because of caps tied to limited funds. By all rights, the state's colleges should have seen a rush of applicants. Instead, enrollment plummeted.
