3 Colleges Get Their Just Deserts

When the Soviet communists’ hammer-and-sickle flag was lowered at the Kremlin for the last time on Dec. 25, 1991, some said that the last refuge of Marxism was in the academic institutions of the West. They were right. That totalitarian ideology has infected American colleges and universities and other institutions that are purveying cancel culture, wokeism, censorship, and gender dogma that rejects reality. But students, parents, and others are fighting back. And two colleges—Oberlin College and Shawnee State University—recently got exactly what they deserve: large legal judgments against them for defamatory and discriminatory misbehavior. A third, Clemson University, narrowly escaped getting hit with a similar type of judgment

Comments:

All colleges that have found in court to have knowingly made false accusations should have their government funding withdrawn. That would wake them up quickly.

Good catch, #1. These woke con-job institutions may indeed become barren, desolate, uninhabitale wastelands. Or maybe the author was using it as a verb, because enraged alumni desert the fund raising events and building drives. Either way, this ain't no piece of cake.

About 20 years ago, at Syracuse University, a basketball player met a girl and began a dating relationship with her. The girl had developed a specific sexual skill, a la Monica Lewinsky. And she was not fussy about who she did it on. The basketball player generously shared her with two other basketball players. The girl participated willingly and happily. Then the girl decided that it was wrong to do what she did so well, told her mother, the mother took her to the County District Attorney, who investigated but found no wrongdoing on the part of the basketball players. Her mom then took her to the Student Affairs Director at Syracuse University, who investigated and then charged the three players with some sort of sexual offense, and held a kangaroo court sort of trial, where the players were denied counsel and were not allowed to cross-examine the girl. All three accused testified honestly, as did the girl. The Kangaroo Court found the three players not guilty, but ordered them to undergo sensitivity training. The Chancellor of the University, a women's studies academic, was so infuriated, she fired the head of Student Affairs for losing the case. The girl transferred to another university, and there may have been an unsuccessful lawsuit filed by mom and the girl against Syracuse University. (not sure about that, though.) The 3 lads zipped up and went about their basketball business. DJT initiated a rule change which would have provided for a fair hearing, the right to counsel, cross examination of the accuser. Dementia Jo's handlers are changing back to Kangaroo Court proceedings. Elections have consequences.

The spelling is correct! When someone receives a "just desert," he literally gets what he deserves, thus, a desert, pronounced like what you eat after supper. A "just dessert" would be given to an obedient child after dinner. So the author is correct. Lo siento.

Most people, even some of the most literate, make the same mistake as #1 and #2. Most writers of English have spelled it "just desserts" for a lifetime without knowing it's wrong, and should be spelled "deserts."

All this garbage got its start during the "glory days" of the anti-Vietnam movement. Those useful idiots who took to the streets were led around by the nose by dedicated communists who needed to help North Vietnam since the Viet Cong had been practically eliminated. The communists knew the useful idiots were easy pickings and proved it time and again. Those useful idiots grew up and produced more useful idiots who had much leisure time on their hands. Their parents might have seen the light but the universities were and are filled with "professors" who brainwash their students into believing socialism/communism will lead to a utopia where everyone is equal and there are no problems. What they don't realize is when communist take over they get rid of everyone who might think or act against their power. History is full of those examples.

For a couple of years toward the end of the last century, David Horowitz contributed a regular column to the online magazine Salon. In 1999 he gathered those columns in a book entitled Hating Whitey and Other Progressive Causes. To return to this book today is to recognize that it could’ve been published yesterday, for the issues it addresses are now even more urgent, and the bizarre ideological tendencies now even more extreme than they were then. (Snip) Horowitz takes us to the Sixties, as it were, by way of the Nineties, thereby shedding light on the process by which many of the intellectuals, rabble-rousers, and outright gangsters

Former President Donald Trump made the most courageous decision of his post-presidency so far by endorsing J.D. Vance for the GOP Senate Primary in Ohio. Vance is an authentic representative of America’s populist tradition, contending against a field of establishment phonies. For the discontent that propelled Trump to the White House in 2016 to be addressed, Vance must find his way into the halls of the Senate. And thanks to Don’s nod, he likely will. A disclosure: Vance and I are friends. (Snip) The Vance I’ve gotten to know over the past few years has something few politicians possess: namely, depth of soul.

"Good evening to the thousands of you who are joining us from around the country," Doug Emhoff, the Hollywood lawyer serving as Kamala's husband, intoned. The sign language interpreter on the small box next to him spread her arms in what was either an attempt to 'sign' Passover or a gesture of disbelief and contempt. The "People's Seder" was about to begin with its apostrophe in the right place and heart in the wrong place. As the Biden White House rushes to enable Iran's nuclear program and the modern day pharaonic mullahs plotting, like the original, to wipe out the Jews, it put on a "People's Seder" to distract American Jews

The CDC just decided to continue the transportation mask mandate for another two weeks. Dr. Bob Wachter, Chair of the Department of Medicine at UCSF, concurs with the CDC decision. This doesn’t prove that masks work. Instead, it proves that the CDC, Wachter, and most mainstream scientists (who claim masks work) are incapable of differentiating solid science from a sloppy study. There have been only two randomized trials to test whether public policy using masks to mitigate the spread of SARS-CoV-2 can reduce the spread. The GOP-E is notoriously skittish about the Culture War that’s been raging in America. The GOP-E preference, we’ve been told, based on fairly indisputable evidence, is to manage the devolution of America into a Social Democrat utopia—managers of the Revolution. And they’ve been paid well to take on that role, so it’s small wonder that so much of the GOP-E were frankly appalled at winning. It wasn’t just Trump—it was all the deplorables coming out, getting involved, voting. The whole thing. That’s the story behind what investigations of Election 2020 are documenting—the coup against Trump was enabled in no small part not only by DC Establishment GOPers

Tucker Carlson opened his show on Monday night with the story of the mass lockdown in Shanghai, with more than 24 million people turned into starving prisoners in their homes, as the government adds in the singular cruelty of slaughtering their pets. This is ostensibly in the name of a “Zero COVID” policy, but that’s nonsense. The real goal is to bring the citizens of Shanghai to heel lest they start to pose a threat to Xi Jinping’s and the Party’s dominance.
