Elon Musk Is Not Your Savior

Original Article

Elon Musk is a visionary, a billionaire, and an immigrant to America who has built his fortune on relentless work and an ardent belief in first principles. His bid to use his vast resources to buy Twitter and bring a semblance of free speech and open debate back to the popular social media platform is laudable. But just remember one thing: Elon Musk is not a savior of free speech and expression. He’s not your savior. He would probably be the first to assert that truth, but would the fawning media in the thrall of sticking it to Twitter listen to him? Musk’s impulse to buy

Neither, perhaps, with his erratic attention span, was Donald Trump. But he got the establishment's fur flying, opened the debate on immigration, and got my vote twice. Musk is doing the same -- the Stelters of the world aren't hysterical for nothing. Good for Musk.

I would rather have Elon Musk transform Twitter into the new Hyde Park Speakers Corner than the current bunch running Twitter. At the old Speakers Corner, on one day a week, you were able to get on your soapbox, speak your truths, along with others, and either get voices of approval or voices of ridicule, disapproving of your truths. Twitter used to be that. Twitter is now a sounding board for the Oligarchs who want to implement their vision of a NWO. Where with the push of a secret algorithm button, they can place you in Twitter jail, forever, as is the case of 45, first when he was President, and now, as a former President.

I am careful about embracing someone who takes an action that I believe in, without knowing what they believe in. I saw his interview about mRNA technology changing people, and it gave me the creeps. I’m not hoping that Musk is ‘my savior’. I already have one. I’m just enjoying the show. There are a lot of people (myself included) who do not use Twitter at all. There actually are more important things in life.

House Republicans are considering term limits for committee chairmen and ranking members, a move that could curb many influential Democrats’ power under a potential Republican House majority. House Republicans already have term limits within the GOP Conference, but adopting the potential rule could significantly curb many potential Democrat ranking members. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), the House Financial Services Committee chair since 2013, could no longer serve as the top-ranking Democrat on the committee. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) would no longer be the top Democrat on the Homeland Security Committee; he has served as the top Democrat on the committee since 2005. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ),

In for a penny, in for a pound. And for Howitzers and more too: It’s a significant move, one that may escalate matters with Vladimir Putin. Ukraine’s unexpectedly robust defense has had one unfortunate effect, which is that they have run out of heavier artillery ammunition necessary to stop and then to roll back Russian invaders. Over the weekend, that supply issue became critical, especially with the looming Russian offensive in the Donbas region. It looks like NATO has run short as well on the Soviet inventory: There is growing concern about the need to get more ammunition — and in particular artillery ammunition — to Ukrainian forces more rapidly

illionaire Elon Musk would cut the salaries of Twitter's board of directors to zero if his ongoing attempt to purchase the company succeeds, Musk announced Monday. Musk offered to purchase Twitter and take it private for $54.20 last week, and Twitter's board is working to fight off the buyout. Board members currently make between $200,000 and $300,000 salaries, equating to an annual cost of roughly $3 million for the company. "Board salary will be $0 if my bid succeeds, so that’s ~$3M/year saved right there," Musk tweeted. Twitter's board adopted a so-called poison pill last week in its effort to ward off Musk's offer.

The largest American airline companies and Amtrak said they are dropping requirements to wear masks after a federal judge overturned the Biden administration’s mask mandate for air travel and public transportation. American, Delta, Southwest, United, and Alaska Airlines all said on Monday night that passengers could fly without masks, with some pilots announcing the policy change mid-flight. U.S. district judge Kathryn Mizelle ruled Monday that the mandate violated the Administrative Procedure Act, and hours later a Biden administration official told media outlets that the mandate “is not in effect at this time.” “Masks are no longer required on domestic flights, select international flights (dependent upon the arrival country’s requirements)

Twitter has another potential suitor as it mulls whether or not to accept Elon Musk's offer to buy the company. The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, said that buyout firm Apollo Global Management is thinking about participating in a bid for Twitter. The firm could support Musk or another firm such as private equity firm Thoma Bravo, which is reportedly interested in acquiring Twitter as well. Musk, who is one of Twitter's largest shareholders, offered to buy Twitter for $54.20 per share. The offer would value Twitter at $43 billion. Some analysts, though, think that it's unlikely that Twitter will accept Musk's deal.

A federal judge on Monday voided the Biden administration's mask mandate for travelers using public transportation such as trains and airplanes. The mandate from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention applies to people as young as 2 years old, and had been set to expire a number of times but was recently extended to May 3 before Monday's ruling. The ruling from U.S.. District Court Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, came in a case brought in Florida federal court by Health Freedom Defense Fund, Inc. and frequent air travelers Ana Daza and Sarah Pope against the administration. We recently looked at a few articles from the Associated Press that took an uncharacteristically critical view of some of the Biden administration’s recent misadventures. I wondered at the time if the mainstream media was beginning to reach the point of refusing to provide cover for Biden and the Democrats as they typically did for most of his first year in office. This week another possible example of what might be turning into a trend showed up and it came from NBC News. Looking back on the collapse of the Build Back Better Act (and basically most of Biden’s agenda with it), Sahil Kapur notes that Democrats

Twitter creator and former CEO, Jack Dorsey, hasn’t been America’s favorite person, nor should he be. He is one of the architects of Twitter’s hard-left, speech-silencing ways, after all. In what many would consider a strange turn of events, Dorsey seems to have found his voice about the problems going on behind the scenes at Twitter. Recently, Twitter pulled out a nuclear option called a “poison pill” that would flood the market with new shares of Twitter should any one person acquire more than 15 percent of the company, effectively making the current stocks worth far less and stopping a hostile takeover from happening.

On Sunday morning’s Meet the Press, anchor Chuck Todd and his panelists were clearly concerned about some recent polling that shows voters under 35 years old, and Hispanic voters are starting to “peel away” from Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, which is disastrous news for congressional Democrats this November.  Todd was cognizant of this throughout the segment. “There's one demographic group I want to single out, and it’s voters under 35,” Todd said, noting how they “have never experienced inflation in their lifetime.”  “Look at these numbers here,” Todd said despondently, before giving a rundown of the topline numbers: “Right now 82 percent of the public thinks the economy is only fair or poor.

Such a question might have seemed a bit over the top, as Biden only entered office in January of 2021. But, after a year of record inflation and gasoline price hikes, devastating COVID lockdowns, a surge of illegal immigration, the botched departure from Afghanistan, and growing questions over the 79-year-old president’s mental fitness, a surprising number of Americans now think Biden won’t last even another two and a half years

We all get that political strategists like to cheerlead for their party. Some might even say that it’s their job. I, however, think that a good strategist is willing to see and speak the truth. If their party is failing, they aren’t doing anyone any favors by pretending things are going well. Which brings me to Democratic strategist Donna Brazile, who appeared on ABC’s This Week on Sunday and gave the most laughable assessment of the upcoming midterms I’ve seen. According to Brazile, the GOP is “essentially running on fumes” from allegations of voter fraud in 2020, while Democrats “are running on the economy that’s roaring back” and “fighting inflation.”

On Easter Sunday, CNN political analyst John Harwood decided to absolve Joe Biden of all of his sins. Harwood wrote a piece stating that there’s really nothing Biden can do about any of the major problems his administration faces. There’s just not much President Joe Biden can do about it. There’s not much he can do to curb inflation. There’s not much he can do to stop migrants from reaching America’s southern border. Or to reduce crime, or to make vaccine resisters get shots that would hasten the end of the coronavirus pandemic. There’s not much he can do to compel cooperation from defectors within his thin Democratic congressional majorities.

For many years, I made my living writing TV shows for Disney. I was proud of my work, considering it a privilege to make kids laugh all over the world. (snip) I grew disillusioned with kids’ TV and walked away from the field. Every kids' TV writer knows that when crafting a story, you have to be careful about “modeling behavior.” Whatever kids see, they imitate, so you should “model” positive traits in your scripts, particularly when writing for pre-schoolers. (snip) So Disney’s recent commitment to “add queerness” wherever possible can’t be explained as just trying to teach tolerance and inclusivity.
