Winston Churchill famously called Russia a "riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma." A more accurate description of the current Russian Federation is a forgery wrapped in a deception inside a lie.
Numerous analysts have focused on Moscow’s campaign of disinformation to undermine the West, but they have barely noticed that the most important subject of disinformation is Russia itself. Moscow has a long record of deceiving Westerners and depicting its empire as invincible. In a previous imperial incarnation, Soviet communism and socialist internationalism were supposed to ensure salvation for all humanity. Until, that is, they were exposed as a fraud. Today’s Russia has created an image

The American election interference was supported by the Biden, Obamas and Clinton cabal to whom Putin owed for us giving him our plutonium and the go-ahead to invade the Crimea.

Napoleon was defeated in Russia by typhus, the weather, and hubris. Hitler was defeated in Russia by the United States, the weather, and hubris. If it had not been for the aid shipped to Russia by the United States Stalin would not have been able to hold off the Nazis. And what did we get in return? A stab in the back. For example, Stalin refused to let American planes refuel in Russia when they might have made a difference in Warsaw. Stalin actively collaborated with the Nazis in the extermination of his (Stalin's) enemies. The NKVD ratted out Polish Home Army forces to the Nazis so as to remove any possibility of resistance to the Red Army. The whole "Great Patriotic War" myth is just that - a lie to cover up Soviet atrocities during WW II.
Until Russia faces the truth about its past criminality it will never be able to progress. Witness their insane justification for a war of aggression and subjugation. Germany has worked to acknowledge and overcome its past. The United States acknowledges and tries to make restitution for slavery and its treatment of Native Americans. At least the West tries. Contrast that with Russia.

Russia is the Democrats boogeyman. They have been using Russia in that context for years. Real and made up Russian involvement. It's the Hildebeast's go to boogeyman. Russia is Schiff's goto boogeyman. Russia is FJB's goto boogeyman. The Dems have built up the boogeyman to be the Incredible Hulk. In reality Russia isn't. Russia is a weak country, militarily and financially, with thousands of nukes that are ready to be launched. Russia is being backed into a corner. Even the smallest of squirrels becomes a raging tiger when backed into a corner. Dems be careful what you have been wishing for. Russia might go off in your hands.

Russia was able to bite off Crimea because Ukraine was unprepared to defend it and was embroiled in domestic political turmoil in 2014. Going back a bit, some analysts were not impressed with the Russian army's performance in Georgia and Chechnya. But - they have proven they can inflict tremendous chaos and loss of life.

Yes, this could bring down Russia as an evil empire.
But we don't know what emerges from the chaos.
That's the BIG "?"

When Russia goes down (please God!), the Chi Coms will scavenge the remains. In the coming triumphalism, where is the protection against their acquisition of those resources?

In a decade of doing scientific research projects there, I met a lot of realky capable scientists and engineers, trapped in a totally dysfunctional, fundamentally corrupt and criminal government and society.
The great majority of Russian management were completely incompetent, only there because of family and political connections.
It is difficult to understand how impossible it is for a smart, hard working entrepreneur to succeed in that environment. As soon as a new idea or a new company started to succeed, it was latched onto by the officials, like leeches, bleeding their funds criminally, destroying the "goose that was about to lay the golden eggs" before they could even grow much.

Russia has long been a “Potemkin Power”, which no one was willing to call out. Their superpower status was wholly reliant on MAD and its nuclear arsenal.
The ridiculous thing is if Russia’s regime collapses, what will the West do? What will be the NATO response as an anti-Russian “defensive alliance”? Will it repeat its anti-Soviet, post-collapse mistakes that brought Europe to this mess today?

Russia is no fake power! They have more nukes than the US! They have been around a lot longer than western powers! The land of Gog and Magog are written about in Biblical texts! They also are mentioned in prophesy! It’s the US that doesn’t seem to appear anywhere in Biblical prediction? Why is that? Have we been destroyed…or have we imploded? We are rapidly losing the assumption that we are the good guys!

The US, the richest country in the world at the time, was defeated by a third world country, Vietnam, after ten years and probably the most expensive war ever fought with the most advanced equipment some of which is still in use today, B52s for example. We were also defeated in Afghanistan even though we have the most sophisticated military equipment the world has ever seen. Even if we curse Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, the deadliness of NATO weapons confirms their fear of NATO on their borders. The willingness of the West to wreck their economies for a country that isn’t even in NATO is another confirmation. No country with thousands of nuclear weapons and the second largest gold reserves in the world allied to China, the second most powerful country in the world, is a fake power. Keep in mind if Saddam Hussein had the same weapons NATO is supplying Ukraine, US armor would never have made it to Baghdad. The economic consequences to the West are not fake and are bringing about a realignment of geoeconomic power based on resources. Russia’s second largest gold reserves in the world are not fake. Much of the world is not concerned with the Ukraine and sees it as a regional conflict of little concern. They don’t fear Russia but more likely the US sanctions that will wreck their economies and bring basic food shortages. They don’t see Russia as a fake power but part of a new world alignment not beholden to Washington elites. Perhaps it is Biden who is the fake power.
