Joe Biden's 2023 budget proposal includes $32 billion to fight rising crime in the U.S., according to two White House officials, despite years-long calls from the progressive wing of his party to defund police.Massive crime spikes, particularly in cities, are one issue that could threaten Democrat's majority in the upcoming midterm elections. Republicans are effectively branding the issue as widely Democrat-caused due to calls to abolish police and rhetoric against law enforcement in general. The officials tell Axios that Biden's budget proposal would require $30 billion in new spending over the next decade to expand law enforcement and increase crime prevention.

It is a trap. It is irresponsible government spending that if Republicans vote against it the Democrats can pretend that Republicans are against law and order, unlike themselves.

Maybe FJB is supposed to only appear to want funding for police. Soon as the midterms are finished, he'll revert to the stance the Puppet Master needs him to take.

You don't want any additional feddie strings on your local police - too many of them 'just follow orders'.

At some point, one has to ask, what is the point of paying taxes? The expenditures of this government so far exceed revenue, that it will never be able to balance the budget. In effect, it is simply a scam to take your money. Just as this is a scam to get votes. We are being hereded into absolute serfdom and if one refuses they will be herded into a boxcar. It is becoming clear that Biden, a man with no brain, was placed into office because he is a useful idiot that can be programmed to say and do anything.

They wouldn't need to spend that kind of money if police were respected, and people wouldn't treat the police as the enemy. Every DA, SA and legislature treat the crime problem as if it's the police fault, and the police need reform. I'm not saying there aren't any bad police, but the police have to deal with worst of society everyday day in and day out. People who grow up with no sense of responsibility except to themselves then act indignant when the police come to arrest them are the ones that need reform.

I do not consent to funding police departments in cities other than where I live. If cities choose to waste money on things other than their first obligation basic expenditures, then residents there can address these thing in the voting booth.

Where did the money go when cities defunded their police? Route that money back to the police. Why should I pay taxes to re-fund the police in towns too stupid to know what is good for them?

Republicans will not win in Nov. Dems are already filling out dems ballots to drive boxes of them to the counting areas. After everyone leaves the dems will continue to count all the new boxes of votes OR the votes will be re-count ad infinitum until the dems win. Dems will win by more votes than there are people on earth. Dems will claim NO VOTER FRAUD as usual.

Of course, it is a trap. And for that reason, the GOPe will support this bill. $32 billion is chump change these days. Backing the Blue is not "irresponsible government spending"...it's a vote-getter. And after appropriating TRILLIONS the past two years...let's not hear about fiscal responsibility ever again.

All the money in the world can’t reel in out of control crime. BLM released that monster and now you won’t be able to get it back in the cage. Crime against the police will escalate until they take action and then the cycle repeats with BLM riots.

Or... it could be what #2 suggests. Which Dem was it who had "100 Thousand cops" as a feature of his reelection campaign, only to have federal funding for it automatically expire the next year, Bubba? Or the Light Bringer?

The Police should be funded by those cities that have cut spending for law enforcement. Quit giving money to cities and states that aren't doing their jobs.

I suggest the Republicans counter that no new budget increases are needed. Most of the 'communities' that are having these violence issues are in states with loads of unspent wuhan flu {prop up your failing fiscal policies by fleecing taxpayers not just from your state] money. Redirect that money to the police departments and other first responders. Do not ask flyover citizens to throw money at a problem created by stupidity on the part of the voters and politicians in these dystopian hellholes.

The problems not money, its revolving door sentencing, neighborhoods shielding criminals, no deportations of convicted illegals and ignoring crime in the first place. Typical Democrats, throw taxpayers money at a problem they themselves created.
