Video footage shows a Ukrainian bomb disposal team casually removing a missile which crashed through the roof of a Ukrainian house. The massive rocket landed in a residential area of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, today. The unlucky houseowner will have been relieved to find out that their damaged ceiling and kitchen counter is all that was damaged when it struck the property. This footage shows the Russian ordnance sticking out of a man's kitchen sink, while several members of a bomb disposal crew inspect and fiddle with the device. The made give the device a good shake, possibly to see if it will come unstuck.

Comments:

The hole in the ceiling was a nice touch.

It reminds me of an early Bruce Lee movie where he knocked someone through a wall and the hole was an outline of their body. I'm not sure the "missile" would even fit through that hole.

I'm beginning to access that Putin is fighting a war with old worn-out ordnances and shoddy troops. Putin's May Day parade might be an extravaganza but his military, while huge, is just not all its cranked up to be for a ground war. All Putin, the Soviet, has are nukes. This is Nazis fighting the Soviets all over again in the Ukraine. Looks like the missile was made from an old Russian hot water heater.

Where's the debris from it crashing through the roof? That kitchen looks pretty clean to me after having an object that large crash through the roof.

SEC’s new rule would add climate change

The Securities and Exchange Commission unveiled a landmark proposal Monday that would require publicly traded companies to disclose emissions data and risks posed by climate change. The proposal, which must undergo a 60-day public comment period before the SEC makes it final, would be a first of its kind and mark yet another arena where the Biden administration hopes to combat a warming climate. It also underscores the administration’s concerns about climate change’s potential impacts on the economy. The idea faced immediate pushback from Republican lawmakers and industry groups. They said the regulators had overstepped their authority and would spread confusion through corporate offices and on Wall Street.

It’s a pump and dumps scheme. Four Florida men were busted for installing devices inside gas pumps that dropped prices down to nearly nothing—an alarming trend that officials said will only spread with fuel costs soaring.(Snip)Rogelio Llerena and Yulier Garcia-Martinez were busted on March 12 while topping off an oversized gas tank in Lakeland. Garcia-Martinez even had a remote device to manipulate the pulsators, officials said. Yordian Diaz-Benitez, of Tampa, was arrested at a Lutz station for stealing diesel fuel on March 10. Marlon Rosel-Rodriguez was cuffed two days later for attempting to place the device inside a pump at the same station.

Tens of thousands of students at the City University of New York have signed a petition to cancel an opera about Emmett Till, the victim of a high-profile 1955 lynching in Mississippi, saying that the school should no longer host the show because it was written by a white woman. John Jay College of Criminal Justice student Mya Bishop created the Change.org petition in an attempt to halt the continuation of 'Emmett Till, A New American Opera' at the school's Gerald W. Elon Musk’s extensive business dealings with China have sparked some alarm on Capitol Hill, with some lawmakers questioning whether Beijing could exploit connections with Tesla and SpaceX to gain access to classified information. Republican lawmakers have expressed concern that the Chinese government could attempt to obtain classified information through third-parties, such as SpaceX suppliers based in China. The US and China are locked in intense competition over space technology and American officials have repeatedly accused Beijing of stealing US intellectual property and trade secrets. Rep. The biggest economic development project in Georgia history is about to be built on a rural tract of land about an hour’s drive east of Atlanta. Among local authorities, no one may have been more important in bringing Rivian’s planned $5 billion plant to the state than Alan Verner. His twin roles as a prominent public official and a large landowner raise conflict of interest questions about the massive electric vehicle factory deal, which was brokered by state and local authorities behind a cloak of secrecy. Verner and his four siblings own about 675 acres of property earmarked for the Rivian plant, or a third of the 1,978-acre site

Two weeks ago, Alani Iyanuoluwa fled Kyiv as the Russian invasion intensified. Making her way across Europe, the 24-year-old hoped to be reunited with family in London. Yet for 10 days she has been stranded in a French port—because she is Nigerian. Iyanuoluwa is among a growing number of refugees who claim the British government is ignoring black people who fled Ukraine. Their experiences have again raised the issue of race and the UK’s welcome to refugees, prompting claims that ministers would never have unveiled last week’s humanitarian sponsorship scheme for Ukrainians had it not been aimed at white Europeans.

A Boeing 737-800 passenger jet operated by China Eastern Airlines has crashed in rural China, presumably killing all 132 souls aboard. Video of the plane nosediving into the ground and the aftermath has emerged. As is expected with any video of this kind, viewer discretion is advised. Much is unknown at this point, but I am a commercial multi-engine pilot and a flight instructor so I can add a few points of speculation to ponder. According to the flight data available, the rapid descent started at around 30,000 feet. That would point to either a structural failure that caused a loss of flight controls or a high-altitude stall

It means over time. It might take over as the dominant variant. Throughout the world, it’s about 80 plus percent, 85% of the isolate. In the United States, it’s still around 30%.”
