A new poll could spell big trouble for New York: Nearly four of every 10 voters here are thinking of fleeing. Their No. 1 reason: high taxes. The survey, released this month by Zogby, found that 38.9% of voters are “considering” or already have “made plans” to head out, up five points from a month earlier.(Snip)Most notably, a stunning 36.7% say their top reason for wanting out is that taxes are “too high,” a gripe more people cited than any other. Even a quarter of “progressives,” 32% of “liberals” and 38% of “moderates” cite high taxes as their strongest motivation to leave. Never mind the druggies and crazies,

Tennessee is being flooded with people from high tax states. They aren't all northern, but most are.
Just leave your politics behind. Don't turn my paradise into your dystopian hell.

We need a one year moratorium on new residents of Florida being allowed to vote in statewide elections. They come here and think a tax hike is nothing compared to where they came from and vote for increases. Within 4-5 years the taxes in their area are back to what they laid when they moved. Most New Yorkers are stubborn Democrats and won’t change their ways!

New York state politicians could care less because it doesn't affect them. At some point in the future all they'll be left wit are takers while the makers are off living in red states. Liberals take dumb to new heights.

Idaho is being over run with blue state refugees; I'm hoping that most of them are conservative. However, the Democrat party in the state is encouraging their party members to register as Republican to affect the outcome of the primary elections.

An interesting question, when do you actually become a resident of a particular state after moving there?
There are laws that state you can't receive in-state tuition, for instance, generally until you've lived in the state for 1 year.
And, believe most politicians are required to submit official forms to become a candidate to run in an election, which begs the question why is that not the date you are required to be registered to vote in same elections? After all, how does a politician campaign effectively if they aren't sure who their constituents are?
#10, my comment above would remove any of that sort of changing registrations so easily. And, maybe it should require at least 180 days between when you can change registrations from one major party to the other, with only option being independent or decline to state until the 180 days expire.
I do presume most moving are feeling disenfranchised in those deep blue states, so are likely Republicans or Republican-leaning.

I wonder how long it will be before all that are left in the state are the takers and well off people who are too stupid to care that they are being ripped off. Essentially, they have so much money that they don't care that the state is taking 15% - 20% of their income (6% - 11% income, 9% sales taxes) to buy the votes of the takers. A bunch of these people are not first generation wealthy and have no idea what it takes to become and remain wealthy. They end up giving away their great granddad's hard earned wealth.
This is the predetermined outcome of progressivism/socialism which does not know how to create and only knows how to appropriate (steal) other people's money. With no ability or incentive to create. the economy stagnates.
This failed outcome has been on display for many decades and yet the dems are still pursuing it and the propaganda media keeps selling it.

The sentiment to keep Northerners out of the South is getting stronger and stronger. They will only bring their left-wing idiocy here and destroy our criminal justice systems, take away the innocence of small children, encourage pedophilia and raise taxes.

With demo-commies and their spawn, you need a 20+ generation moratorium on giving them the franchise in your state. And that's only if you cut off the feddie-commie driven teacher's union and lesson plans. Then after the 20th generation, they need to pass a rigorous American history test, state history test and a critical thinking test, before being granted the franchise. If the feddie judges don't like it, 10th amendment and tell 'em to pound sand.

Too many liberals and moderates. And they will bring their foolish politics with them. Leftists believe more in federal control than states rights. Similar to poster 15's thinking, I think that before they are allowed to become citizens of our states, they should automatically be enrolled in Here's How We Do Things Here-Get With The Program or Leave courses, and they should have to take and pass a test on the course repeatedly over a twenty-year period. We need to stop taking chances that they will come to our side. We have too much evidence to the contrary; they're like locusts. Colorado is a great example. Washington state and Oregon are other examples.

Please do not move to WV. Every time I see one of your ugly license plates I wonder who is about to be mugged.
If you must infest my state, prove your desire to fully leave your carp hole and become a West Virginian with some or all of these gestures. 1. Dont vote for ten years. 2. Never run for local office. 3. Never tell anyone how they used to do it in Nyawk. 4. Get rid of the mugger accent. 5. Don't outbid the locals for a house. We know you got a half mil for your refrigerator box up north. We cant pay that. We will hate you if you jack up prices. 6. Your little garter gun does not make you a big man. Ours are more powerful and more plentiful, and we can drive a tack at 100 yards. And everyone is carrying one. 7. Every faux pas you commit will be remembered for generations. Better to just keep on moving.

For every NYorker that leaves, two illegals take their place. As a bonus, the transplanted NYorker heads to a red state and votes for the same nonsense that ruined NY.
