Disgraced 'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett will be released from jail after just six days behind bars so he can appeal his conviction for faking a hate crime. He's expected to hold a press conference at the Cook County Jail at 8:30 p.m. after he posts the required $150,000 personal recognizance bond. Judges ruled that he should go free while his lawyers work on the appeal of his conviction on five felony counts of lying to police about a racist and homophobic attack.

If this was a straight white guy, he’d have been in jail last year for three years.

Sur-prise, sur-prise…. He’ll never work in Hollywood again…. The sentencing judge was right. Told Juss that he’d ruined his life. Quite a life lecture.

It's surprising because the psychopath should be much safer in the nut ward.

His lifestyle will eventually catch up with him. It usually does with these Hollywood types.

We have here a guy who did his best to ignite a race war. He has now, officially, gotten away with it. He is now a hero among his brethren. Yet ANOTHER criminal getting away with it. Black lives truly matter.

This is utterly disgusting on so many levels. So a hate crime if it’s commuted by a black queer?
Ya know activists for the gay community are doing that community more harm than good; they’re losing the acceptance they had. They pushed the envelope too far w/crap like this.

I wonder how it would have turned out if a white guy claimed black obama supporters put a noose around his neck and attempted murder? I'll just bet he'd still be in jail and for a very long time.

This arrogant, self-righteousness hoaxer, gets out after a few days, while others are jailed without indictment and in solitary confinement.

I really don't care, except they better not count the released days toward his sentence. Once his appeal is done, back in the slammer for 142 mote days.

This country was founded on the principles that included equal justice under the law. It has never lived up to this standard. One gets sick and tired of Smollets and Baldwins. Of Gates and Clintons and other "entitled" criminals being treated with kid gloves instead of the steel cuffs and legirons everyone else recieves.

Smollet puts himself in the same famous category as Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein by yelling in court “I am not suicidal”. Doesn’t he know he’s just a 2-bit actor who is hardly known outside of Chicago and not an important big shot with big-time connections in Hollywood or in politics. How arrogant of him. Meanwhile January 6 protesters are still sitting in jail while he is released after 6 days. The moron could have started a race war by his actions. Only in America.
