Even as Gas Prices Surge, Charging an
Electric Vehicle Can Still Be Way More
Expensive Than Gassing Up a Car

Those trying to sell us on buying electric vehicles often claim that drivers can save money by not having to buy gas, but is that really the case? In many regards, some analysts have their doubts. As the average cost per gallon of gas has soared past $4.20, and with no end in sight, many of our leaders — including Joe Biden — are pushing EVs as a cost-effective replacement for gas-powered cars. As Fox Business recently noted, a one-to-one comparison of the cost of charging an EV versus filling a regular auto with gas showed that EV charging appeared cheaper.

Comments:

So, about as expensive to charge an EV as a real car.
And no mention of the reduced battery life that comes from fast charging. EVs are foolish, expensive, short ranged, and they periodically burst into flames....to the extent that parking one in an attached garage is not recommend by the makers. Burn your house down, while you are asleep.

Help me with this because I don't know the answer. So I hop into my charged car. Drive 250 miles but my destination is still 200 miles away. Battery low so I must look for a recharging station. If I find a station and can hook up right away I assume I pay for this. I also might have to wait a great deal of time waiting my turn. How long does it take to charge fully? Several hours? What the hell am I supposed to do? Sit around and wait and wait and wait. What do the people do who are behind me in line? Or I could have a car that uses gas. I am low so I gas up and after a trip to the bathroom and to purchase snacks I am on my way in 15 minutes. Besides a lot of us cannot afford a $60,000 electric car and don't want to mess with it. It sounds incredibly inconvenient. What if I run out of battery power in the middle of know where? For whatever reason I could not get it charged or the gage malfunctioned. Instead of getting someone to bring 4 gallons of gas to the car am I towed to a charging station? Seriously I don't know.

If what I've read is true, in many parts of the world impoverished children are being used to mine the minerals used in these batteries, and if that is true, which appears likely, I won't be part of it. Bad karma.

Since fuel is consumed for generating most power, the cost of the electricity will almost inevitably go up with the price of oil. It takes just ONE stinkin' logical inference to realize that, and the Watermelons can't even seem to reason far enough to see that. Idiots with authority are a clear and clear and present danger to the personal liberty so many Americans take for granted (something we all saw big-time during these many months of covid hysteria). And these days, greater authority seems to have accompanied greater idiocy.

Re #1. At many charging station, a fully depleted battery takes 8 to 10 hours to charge. Some have huge power output, and at the cost of reduced long term battery life, you can charge in shorter periods....perhaps a partial charge in 30 minutes or so. So, reduced range. And usually there are only a few spaces for charging. If there are two places, and both are taken you WAIT. They are entirely impractical for anything but as a modest range commuter vehicle always returning to your home to recharge at night. Expensive rich person toys, totally impractical to travel anything remotely like a normal medium length trip.

I don't even care about the cost as much as I care about the time it takes to charge one of these stupid EV cars. I can fill my crossover SUV's 20-gallon tank in about 5 minutes and be back on the road. An EV takes anywhere from 8 to 24 hours to charge. I live in Austin, TX, and have to drive out to El Paso, TX, several times a year. What is about a 9-hour trip in my gas-powered crossover would become a 3-day trip if I had to do it in an EV car. Maybe if you live in a city, and that is the only place you drive, and EV car might work. But if you live in a wide-open state like Texas, or do any traveling, EV cars are about as useless as you can imagine. Until they can develop a way to fully charge EV cars in 10 minutes and have charging stations at every gas station in this country, I will pass!!!!!

Electric vehicles don't pay their fair share of the taxes to maintain the road. Thus, internal combustion powered vehicle owners are all subsidizing electrical vehicle owners. The cost of electrical vehicle operation should be even higher.

I live in Montana where we drive long distances and have cold weather. EV are not practical. But my question is with millions of them charging, what happens to the price of electricity?

In Florida's 11th Congressional district, US Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL) is facing a tough primary race against Conservative investigative journalist and free speech activist Laura Loomer. Rep. Webster's reelection to the House of Representatives will be a steep uphill challenge given that Laura Loomer (R-FL), the popular firebrand who was endorsed by President Trump in 2020, has now gained the endorsement of General. Michael Flynn. Loomer, who has been characterized as a Right-wing activist and the most canceled woman in Florida, looks to have a real shot to win after embarking on a grassroots campaign that seems to be blanketing the district.

Mayor Eric Adams was elected largely based on his promise to return order to New York City. While early indications point to his moving in the right direction, I fear that factors beyond his control will hinder reaching that goal. I recently retired as a sergeant after serving 29 years with the NYPD. I grew up in Queens and attended Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn. I still live in the city. I spent my entire career on patrol and in plainclothes Anti-Crime and Street Narcotics Enforcement Units (SNEU) in the South Bronx and Harlem. I came on the job in 1991 when the city had more than 2,000 homicides.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is promoting a dystopian vision, and it is closer than you think. By 2030, it says, “You will own nothing and you’ll be happy.” Ownership and control will be vested in a handful of government leaders and a cabal of the wealthiest individuals in the world. You will lose more than just your possessions. Under the WEF’s “Great Reset,” individual freedom, personal responsibility, and opportunities for growth and self-fulfillment will be eroded away. Democracy, the free market and national sovereignty will be replaced by a new world order, stakeholder capitalism and centralized control by some NGOs, globalist corporations and the elite.

Sometimes I feel sorry for Barack Obama. Though we grew up in the same era — indeed, were born less than two months apart — he had a very different upbringing. The title of his first autobiography says it all: Dreams from My Father. Unlike young Barack, I was blessed with a present father who took an active hand in raising me — a hand that, on rare occasions, wielded an old wooden paddle. I got a lot more than just dreams from my father. I received love, affection, counsel, discipline, and direction.

A few years back, I was walking through a seedy Miami neighborhood when I heard a woman’s scream. I rushed forward and saw a hefty young black man pulling the purse from a fiftyish Latina, who was clutching the purse strap like her life depended on it. Russia learned some hard lessons when it invaded Finland in November 1939. Today in Ukraine, it’s become clear that those lessons didn’t “stick,” at least not among Russia’s decision-makers. In the winter of 1939, Russia – having just conquered half of Poland after Germany had already knocked that country out of the war – decided that war was good business. So they invaded Finland. In Poland, the Soviets re-took land that had been under the control of Czarist Russia for two centuries before it was divided away from Russia at the treaty of Versailles. Repeating that strategy, on November 30, 1939, Russia attacked Finland

Two healthy middle-aged females returned to almost their normal daily activities after taking daily antihistamines for long COVID, according to a recently published case report. The researchers noted long COVID is a chronic condition when patients who are infected with the virus have persistent symptoms that extend beyond the typical time frame for the infection to resolve, but the illness currently doesn’t have any evidence-based treatments to guide how to manage it. "Most patients tell us that providers have not recommended anything that has helped," said co-author Melissa Pinto, associate professor at the University of California, Irvine Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing.

Conventional wisdom is that the 2022 midterms will be a political bloodbath for the Democrats. For starters, historically speaking, the party in power typically loses seats. But on top of that, Biden’s poor approval ratings are dragging down his entire party, and more than 30 House Democrats have announced their retirements. Nevertheless, during the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting on Thursday, Biden insisted his party could defy history. How? All they’ve got to do is replicate their 2020 enthusiasm. “If we do that, we’re going to keep the House and keep the Senate — and add seats,” he claimed. Good luck with that.
