Matthew L. Perna, a Pennsylvania man prosecuted for his 20-minute walk through the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, took his own life on Feb. 25 due to “a broken heart” and a justice system that “killed his spirit and his zest for life,” his family said.
Perna, 37, of Sharpsville, was due to be sentenced on March 3 in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., in a plea agreement on charges of obstruction of an official proceeding, aiding and abetting, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, (snip) One charge is a felony and the others are misdemeanors.

I hope his ghost haunts the halls of Congress forever. Or at least Pelosi and Schumer's chambers. Now those two are prime candidates for being made examples of.

I am so sorry to hear this. More blood on this congress, president's hands. I'm getting very frustrated about the republicans saying nothing about our political prisoners. They're not getting any money until they grow a spine. This is outrageous that this is happening in America. It would be hypocritical for them to speak about human rights in other countries but that's never stopped them. I'm talking about both parties -Mitch and Kevin take note.

The Republicans' silence on the disparate treatment of the BLM rioters and the January 6 defendants is the major reason why I haven't given a dime to the Republicans in over a year and likely never will again.

Agreeing with comment # 2. It is not understandable that more than just a few brave and principled conservatives or politicians of any persuasion speak up about this “assault on Washington”. Shame on their gutless political aspirations.

This is an incredibly sad story and a blood stain on American justice. These prosecutors are Weissmanns henchmen. The J6 political prisoners defense are useless DC thugs without an ounce of honor. The list of unAmerican dishonor grows by the minute.

Wonderful. The democrats are evil without conscience, and the republicans are cowards without spine. I guess looking back on my life, all but a few "leaders" fell into one or both of those categories. And regular citizens suffer for their enrichment.

Can this country last until the democrats are voted out of office? Will the DOJ ever be trustworthy again? Will the FBI stop entrapping people right of center for the deep state? Will real criminals in democrat controlled cities ever be punished for their crimes? Will Republicans ever grow a spine or stones big enough to confront the evil that is infecting the democrat party?

There should be at least 100 posts about this! Do something, people! Send this to Pelosi on a weekly basis with "Blood on Your Hands!!!!" written in red. Ghosts don't exist, but while we're still alive, we can haunt Pelosi for this man's death!

No #10, with all due respect, what effect do a bunch of Republicans sending Pelosi anything have? Uh-uh, we should flood Kevin McCarthy’s office and our own Congressperson’s mail with our demands. They want to pontificate about the Constitution. Prove you mean it and GET TO WORK.

Since when is the Capitol of our country restricted? It should be open for all citizens to witness what is going on at the meetings. If it got a bit crowded too bad. It isn't like the crowd shot up the meeting hall and killed a Congressman like the Puerto Rican Independentists did in the 40's.

FTA: Geri said the family never understood why the U.S. Department of Justice filed a felony charge in the case.
Lots of people don't understand, or refuse to grasp the reason. Mr. Perna was a scapegoat. Government needed several and he was one of many.

Lift this poor man's spirit up in prayer, and ask that Father show him mercy.
I am so saddened by this.

I still receive reminders and thanks for insisting that those in my circle stay home and not go to DC. I told them repeatedly that nothing good happens there and they listened. Those in our group who didn’t listen ended up on the front page of our local rag and the top story in local news broadcasts. One even came close to ruining his wife’s career in LEO. Don’t protest in DC if you are conservative. It was an INCREDIBLY stupid move and Trump led the way. So sorry this man had to learn the hard way. It’s truly heartbreaking.

The republican silence is worse than the silence during Mueller mess, 2 impeachments ....now J6. I wish Trump would form his own party & give the republican party to Bush, Romney, McConnell, Ryan, Cheney...The sad part is once upon a time people could protest freely in DC & we had fair elections....now only certain people can protest , burn, riot, loot without consequences & without bail. Kamala formed a bail fund, no one went to jail.... now.....we have 3 more years of this one sided justice system.

I wrote to my Congressman twice. Once to tell him about this Pennsylvania man’s death caused by their inability to stand up for their citizens. Then I wrote again and included Matthew’s obituary and said to please send this to Mike Kelly who was his Congressman. They should all be ashamed forever that they allowed our tyrannical government to do this. We are a Banana Republic now and the Constitution has died. Take care of your families. We are on our own.
