Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Monday announced that he has denied a request for the state’s National Guard to deploy to the nation’s capital for President Biden’s Tuesday State of the Union address, ensuring that the Florida National Guard will not be sent to Washington, DC.The Biden administration last week requested assistance from state National Guards ahead of Tuesday’s speech. The request coincides with hundreds of National Guard members being activated in the D.C. area ahead of the address to assist with traffic and security. Florida’s National Guard, however, will not participate.

Good! We don't need to play into the fiction that Lyin Biden is under threat from white nationalist conservatives. He wants to make DC look like a city under siege? He'll have to do that without Florida's help.

So Biden is going to tell us how wonderful the state of the union is but he wants the NG there to protect him. He can go straight to H***! And thank God we have Gov. DeSantis.

For decades, only despotic dictators required security fencing and visible armed forces nearby for major political events--because they knew they were unpopular and feared their own citizens.
With the democrats in control, we witness those conditions in our nations' capital. Nancy, Chuck and Joe's handlers now require this kind of window dressing as part of their annual "State of the Union" address. But, they are solidly against any kind of fencing or armed forces security at our southern border.

What if they throw a SOTU address and nobody shows up?
That would be a far more effective protest. These Kommie Klowns, throwing up 7-foot barricades, prepping up the Kapital Kops, getting the Patriot Front (FBI plants) ready, and AOC to be surrounded by bodyguards because, you know, every so-called right-wing nut-job wants to date-rape her, are so deluded and full of themselves! Who, in his right mind, is going to sit (after being wanded, frisked, probed, and anally examined) to hear a doddering old fool mumbling through his face diaper something about terrorist parents at school board meetings and how wonderful we have inflation?!
Don’t forget the ice cream!

I’m sure China is willing to help out. There are already Chinese troops in Canada so just ask Trudeau to send them on over.

Let's go Brandon!
First we refuse the NG when we might need them. Then, when we don't, we request them.
We sure do not send our best and brightest to Washington!

Biden needs to make a phone call to dictator Trudeau for reinforcements from the RCMP on horseback. A stampede over those evil truckers would be in order. FJB

If DeSantis is like the rest of us, he's written the Swamp off as an unnavigable morass best left well enough alone.
But thanks for the thought, Joey, you miserable traitor.

Are there protests? Or just fear of protests? Or fear of opposition in any form? But again, are there protests planned against Biden and his utter failure to prioritize his own country on any level? There should be!

Problem with DeSantis as Trump's VP is that the Constitution prohibits the Electoral College voters from casting votes for Pres & VP from the same state. Remember, Trump moved his legal residence to Florida. I guess he could move it back to NY. Cheney had to move his legal residence from Texas back to Wyoming to run as W's VP in 2000.

They need help because the District of Columbia National Guard has pretty much the same reputation as the Capitol Police.
And why does Washington need the National Guard for this in the first place? This is the nation's capitol and is federal property. It is protected by the Regular Army with the Commander-in-Chief (such as he is) sitting in the middle of it. The Regular Army can't maintain peace in the Capitol?
But think of the optics, having the Regular Army occupying the Capitol, during the State of the Union Address. Wouldn't that be a statement?

Smart move. I don't have to imagine much to think the lying media would make it seem like DeSantis was trying to take DC by force.

When your paranoia tells you that you are afraid of your own people, it’s time to take a good long look in the mirror. But never having had any insight, narcissistic, delusional Zhou would see nothing there but “hey, a still handsome guy with a bunch of white hair and a smile to match”…
Hopeless.
Good for DeSantis.

#29, you mean "posse comitatus"? I don't think it would apply. The Regular Army is federal; DC is federal. The Regular Army can take people into custody on any military base (federal property) I have ever been on. Unless federalized (giving them the same status as the RA), the Florida National Guard would be under state authority, which I don't think would hold much water in DC.
I suspect all the state that are contiguous with DC and got involved in the last fracas said they didn't want to play this time, which is why Florida got asked.
