Study: DC gun crimes involve ‘small
number’ of people

A study finds that suspects in violent crime in the District share a lot of characteristics. The National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform looked at the numbers for homicides and nonfatal shooting in D.C. in 2019 and 2020, and found that “most gun violence is tightly concentrated on a small number of very high-risk young Black male adults that share a common set of risk factors.”(Snip)While the motive for the shooting “may not be a traditional gang war,” the report says, “often shootings are precipitated by a petty conflict over a young woman, a simple argument, or the now-ubiquitous social media slight.”

Subtract out the contributions of the 13% and USA would be among the safest places in the world. FTA: "More than 90% of victims and suspects in 2019 and 2020 were male and about 96% were Black. The study also found that another 86% of victims and suspects have been involved with the criminal justice system and the average age of victims is 31, while the average age of suspects is 27 years old."

That’s BS. There were over 200 car jackings in DC last year most involved hand guns and the victims were usually young White women driving expensive SUVs. You take your life in your hands when you drive in many parts of our National Capital.

I agree with #2’s posting. But when you add in all the just plain shootings and murders around DC, the article has identified the correct population of perpetrators. The study is sure to upset Biden, Harris, and the Democrats as there is never a so-called “White Supremacist” in sight, when those very serious violent “gun crimes” that under the law are aggravated assaults and murders take place in DC and the other Democrat run big cities.

Well duh!!!!! That is true everywhere in this country -- especially in Demon-Rat run cities where the DA's are soft on actual crime and don't want to go after the gang-bangers (who are responsible for the strong majority of gun crime in this country) out of fear of being labeled as "racists"!!! No, it's so much easier for them to go after law-abiding gun owners who aren't responsible for any of the gun violence in this country, and where everywhere they do limit law-abiding gun ownership gun violence increases as the gang-bangers and other criminals know they have a giant pool of unarmed victims to attack!!! Lie-beral Illogic at its most hypocritical!!!!!

Seven percent of the population (guess who) commits 50 percent of the violent crime nationwide. That is an older statistic but still holds. Now the gun controllers want to take away all guns from white law-abiding citizens, and not those criminals. I know, never let a crisis go to waste.

They are going to do "intervention for people at high risk" whatever that means. How about intervene them right off to jail for an extended period of time? Get the small percentage of people who commit the majority of crimes out of the population and, guess what, crime goes down. Works every time it's tried. It's not rocket science...but too hard for Democrats.

The ONLY characteristic they share that's important is their violent S-O-C-I-O-P-A-T-H-Y and until criminologists realize that violent S-O-C-I-O-P-A-T-H-Y is not curable and not rehabilibatable and that the ONLY solution is to lock them away for their entire lives, society will continue to suffer at their hands.

Yeah, they're called CRIMINALS, and they don't care how many idiot gun laws you moron leftist politicians pass. The evil people preying off society will always be better armed than the law-abiding citizens prevented from protecting their own lives, as well as communities. When laws become an excuse to support the criminals, it's time to overturn the existing legal system.

The Biden administration has moved to make it more attractive for immigrants to sign up for welfare, laying down a marker just days before the Supreme Court is slated to take up the issue in a legal challenge seeking to restore stricter Trump-era rules. The Homeland Security Department released a proposal to raise the bar for becoming a “public charge.” Joining programs such as Medicaid won’t be counted against most immigrants, it said. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said immigrants “will not be penalized for choosing to access the health benefits and other supplemental government services available to them.”
