Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Monday that NATO is considering permanently deploying troops in the Baltic states after Lithuania’s president raised fears that Russian leader Vladimir Putin will march his army into other European countries if he is not stopped in Ukraine. “We’re continuously reviewing within NATO our defense posture, including looking at questions of extending the deployment of forces, looking at questions of more permanent deployments. All of that is under regular review, and we’re engaged with NATO allies in doing just that,” Blinken said during a joint news conference with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis in Vilnius. A group of rowdy teens have harassed and attacked workers in an East Village deli near Tompkins Square Park for months, but the police have done nothing about it, the store owner says. Jay Patel, owner of Sheen Brothers Deli at 157 Avenue B, says he has called the police time and again about the teen terrors, but cops have told him their hands are tied. “I was calling the police officers every day. Those kids come in the store,” Patel said. “Sometimes, they have a metal rod, and sometimes, a baseball bat. ... The police say they can’t do anything.” In one security video, teens punch a clerk repeatedly

The White House on Sunday rejected the argument that increasing domestic oil production would help lower gas prices, as the cost of oil moves toward record highs. Crude oil prices rose as high as $130.50 a barrel on Sunday evening. White House press secretary Jen Psaki released a set of talking points on social media, arguing against a focus on boosting oil production in the United States. “It’s a reminder that real energy security comes from reducing our dependence on fossil fuels,” Psaki wrote, noting that Russia’s continued invasion of Ukraine was causing a spike in oil prices. Psaki pushed back against Republicans calling for more domestic oil production.

President Biden’s pledge to cut the deficit by more than $1 trillion by the end of the year has budget experts and fiscal hawks scratching their heads, especially as the White House pushes trillions in new spending. Republicans say that if Mr. Biden was serious about cutting the deficit he would not be asking Congress to revive the administration’s $1.75 trillion social welfare and climate change package.(Snip)The Congressional Budget Office estimates the legislation, which includes $500 billion in new climate change spending and billions for social welfare initiatives like universal pre-K, will balloon the deficit anywhere between $367 billion to $3 trillion over the next decade.

Vice President Kamala Harris used her visit to Selma, Alabama, as an opportunity to compare state Republicans who passed new election laws to 1960s state troopers who attacked Black civil rights protesters as they crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Ms. Harris made the trip Sunday to commemorate the 57th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday,” the day in 1965 when White state troopers assaulted Black voting-rights demonstrators trying to cross the historic bridge in Selma. Ms. Harris described the marchers on that day as “preparing for the worst” and were kneeling in prayer as the state troopers charged at them. “Those brave marches continued to push forward to secure the freedom

Plans for Poland to send fighter jets to Ukraine have been given the 'green light' by the US amid warnings from Russia that countries hosting Kyiv's military aircraft could end up being involved in an armed conflict. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said today that the country was in talks with Poland in order to orchestrate a deal that would allow Polish fighter jets to be flown by pilots from the Ukrainian Air Force in order to combat Russia's air superiority.
The deal would see Ukraine take Poland's 28 Russian-made MiG-29 warplanes, which would in turn be replaced by a fresh set of F-16's

The safe-room, full of families and children, hushed for the child’s astounding performance of the hit tune from the flick “Frozen,” according to the clip circulating on social media.

How does any rational or caring human being watch us lose a 20-year war against cave-dwelling barbarians, and not just lose that war, but lose it in the most humiliating fashion imaginable, and less than a year later already have a war-boner for Ukraine? I’m convinced the unholy alliance between Neocons, the corporate media, and the Democrat party is the Seventh Seal. For a moment, let’s forget about the fact that America is incapable of liberating anyone; let’s ignore that our definition of “liberating” is to spend $4 trillion killing hundreds of thousands of innocents and then abandoning them to the enemy.

Defiant ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo turned a Brooklyn church appearance into a 25-minute gripe session Sunday in which he again blamed “cancel culture,” the media and “political sharks” driving him out of office. In his first public appearance since resigning last year, the accused serial sexual harasser whined about his explosive scandal to about 150 congregants at God’s Battalion of Prayer in East Flatbush, calling it “probably the toughest time of my life.”(Snip)“My behavior has been the same for 40 years in public life. … But that was actually the problem. A man who allegedly terrorized his East Harlem neighbors with violent racist screeds for more than a year was finally arrested, sources said. Things got so bad at 158th East 126th Street, residents called the 8th floor the “floor of terror,” sources said.
That’s where Marlon Carr, 47, lived and was arrested Friday morning, after barricading himself inside his apartment following a racist assault on his neighbor, a 39-year-old Asian man, according to law enforcement sources. “He was so angry at people because they make huge noise when they closed the door,” one of his victims told The Post. Carr allegedly accosted the victim, a 22-year-old Chinese

Leeds Crown Court has heard that a British girl was abused and groomed by up to 300 men by the time she reached the age of 17.
The courtroom was told that the girl was targeted by a group of men from the age of 14, and her parents had contacted social services after she repeatedly returned home looking dishevelled and under the influences of drugs and alcohol—one time completely naked from the waist down. However, Kate Batty, for the prosecution, said that the unidentified girl’s parents were told by social services that “she must love it if she keeps going back”—a stance that has stark parallels
