MINNEAPOLIS - Former Brooklyn Center police officer Kim Potter was sentenced Friday morning to two years in prison after a jury found her guilty of first-degree and second-degree manslaughter in the April 2021 shooting death of 20-year-old Daunte Wright. Presiding Judge Regina Chu said there was no question that Potter is extremely remorseful when she announced a downward departure from state guidelines with a total sentence of 24 months, with 16 months served in prison, and the remaining on supervised release. Potter will receive credit for 58 days served. Chu said she found the facts and circumstances of the case justified

BLM is busy trying to bury $60m in the back yard. They don't care about anything else and never have. They will soon dissolve and be forgotten in the dustbin of history. BLM's 15m is over. Now the forensic accountants can move in.
For example, who remembers Code Pink? Exactly.

If she burned down a courthouse or trashed a private business, she would be on probation.

More than she deserves, but less than I expected.
Let's hope that she survives imprisonment, and gets out before 24 months....a lot before.

24 months with 8 months of it on probation and 2 months credit for time served = 14 months
The riots will begin at sunset.

She didn’t do this intentionally! Why does everyone want her life ruined too! She is and will suffer the rest of her life! Have some compassion for an officer of the law!

Agree with #3. If Mr. Wright had simply done what he was told none of this would have happened. Did he deserve to be shot and killed? No, but it shows a flaw in the ability of telling the difference between a gun and a taser when an officer is under stress. Frankly, any and every black person who has a criminal file as long as the Mississippi River is walking free this sentence appears to be racist.

This poor woman should be sentenced to time served. No intent, human error, all on video. She was horrified by what she did. Her life is ruined. Let them burn down the courthouse they don't have the guts. Asians are getting whacked by baseball bats where is their justice??

I am so torn on stories like these. Look I NOW you all don't agree, but as a blonde haired blue eyed lawyer who was raped by half of the Martinez California police department just so one cop could keep getting his blank blanked by my ex-wife, I know that cops are just the other side of the same low-IQ thug coin as BLM/Antifa. The world will never truly be free until the last liberal is strangled with the entrails of the last cop.

It's a pretty limited mind that assumes all police officers are the same.

Minnesota is going to have a heck of a time recruiting qualified police officers in the future. A police officer’s career could well last 25 years, and anytime during the career in a split second such an officer could make an unintentional mistake that could land him or her in a Minnesota prison for years. Who wants to take that chance when there are so many law enforcement jobs available all over the country?

She shouldn't have to serve one minute more than time served.

I propose that they paint Tasers a fluorescent orange for those who do not know their right hand from their left hand. Accidents are one thing, accidents with firearms are quite another. A fair sentence would be no jail time, no return to police work unless she is armed with nothing more than a pencil and a book of tickets.
