At least six people were stabbed in New York City’s subway system over the weekend, with the first attacks unfolding just hours after Mayor Eric Adams and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul unveiled a new plan to combat violence on public transit, authorities said. Five people were stabbed in the subway system within just over 24 hours after Adams and Hochul revealed a 17-page plan “Subway Safety Plan,” which will see more police and mental health teams deployed across the subway system starting Monday. A sixth person was stabbed on Sunday evening on the 6 line near Canal Street, the

The previous occupant of the mayor's office did the same thing; deployed more police officers and mental health teams across the subway system. The cops arrest them and the DA's office sets them free, and that's that. Since this procedure is set in stone, why not save time and money and simply defund the police and the court systems?

I, for one, really need a social worker when I'm being stabbed or pushed onto the third rail in front of an incoming train to hel- me deal with how my white privilege and my innate white racism has caused such harm to my attacker, the poor dear.

Hard to tell who is the most dangerous, the lunatics inhabiting the subway system or the lunatics inhabiting the mayor's office and staff jobs.

It's obvious the new 'safety plan' is working. Stabbing people instead of shoving them in front of trains is quite an improvement.

Add another to the pile. A man arguing with a woman leads to a stabbing, as expected during any conflict in certain cultures. "The suspect is described as standing around 6 feet to 6 feet, 2 inches and being of slim build with facial piercings, according to the NYPD. This incident marks the seventh subway assault within the last 48 hours, following Mayor Eric Adams’ announcement of the city’s plan to make subways safer." https://pix11.com/news/local-news/bronx/woman-attacked-on-no-4-train-6th-subway-assault-in-48-hours-nypd/

I wish the cops would just shove them into the pit when they pull a knife on someone ahead of the A train and keep this problem simple.

With the Ukraine Invasion, NATO Is Suddenly Vulnerable 0 replies

BRUSSELS — A new front line of conflict is taking shape in Europe, with enhanced levels of risk that raise questions about whether NATO will, or even can, respond effectively. Having invaded Ukraine and deployed its troops in a compliant Belarus, Russia has suddenly extended its military power to the borders of several NATO countries, including the Baltic nations. If Russia succeeds in taking over Ukraine and keeping bases in Belarus, as many experts now expect, its forces will extend from the borders of the Baltics and Poland to Slovakia, Hungary and northern Romania, making it significantly harder for NATO to

BERLIN - The chief of the German army vented his frustration over what he sees as the long-running neglect of military readiness in his country in an unusual public rant a few hours after Russia invaded Ukraine, adding that the army was in bad shape. Russian forces invaded Ukraine by land, air and sea on Thursday, confirming the worst fears of the West with the biggest attack by one state against another in Europe since World War Two. "In my 41th year of peace-time service, I would not have thought that I would have to experience a war," Lieutenant General Alfon

WASHINGTON -- The Biden administration is delaying decisions on new oil and gas drilling on federal land and other energy-related actions after a federal court blocked the way officials were calculating the real-world costs of climate change. The administration said in a legal filing that a Feb. 11 ruling by a Louisiana federal judge will affect dozens of rules by at least four federal agencies. Among the immediate effects is an indefinite delay in planned oil and gas lease sales on public lands in a half-dozen states in the West, including Wyoming, Montana and Utah. The ruling also will delay plans

Five people were discovered dead inside a Colorado apartment — where a 4-month-old baby was also found alive — after what police are investigating as a drug-fueled party involving fentanyl, officials said. The bodies of three women and two men were discovered inside a unit at the North Range Crossings Apartments on East 104th Avenue, Commerce City Police Chief Clint Nichols said, the Denver Post reported. Another adult and an infant were found alive, he added. District Attorney Brian Mason said that the deaths were fentanyl-related. “No drug is safe right now. POWAY, Calif. – Some families are reaching a boiling point over the school mask mandate at Poway Unified School District. From heated school board meetings in Santee to anti-mask rallies in Poway, young children and their parents are becoming more vocal over California's indoor school mask mandate that has no expiration date. PUSD superintendent Marian Kim Phelps wrote a two-page letter to Governor Gavin Newsom and the county's health officer Dr. Wilma Wooten last week asking for an immediate time frame as to when the mandate would be lifted. MUNICH — In an appeal that was at times bitterly critical of the West, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine urged allies on Saturday to begin sanctioning Russia now rather than wait for an invasion, and he took aim at repeated American declarations that an attack would happen within days. “What are you waiting for?’’ Mr. Zelensky asked a large audience at the annual meeting of the Munich Security Conference, which he attended despite warnings that his absence from Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, could give Russia an opportunity to strike. “We don’t need your sanctions after” the economy collapses and “parts
