Practicing Catholics in the United States, like everyone else over the past two years, have experienced a severe disruption of their communal life. (snip) If even your bishop indicates that your sacramental obligations can be dispensed with indefinitely on account of a virus—while “essential businesses” like weed shops, liquor stores, and big-box retailers remain in operation—it tends to affect people’s perception of what truly is “essential” in the practice of their faith.

Yesterday, I wrote a post detailing what was in Special Prosecutor John Durham’s latest filing, a seemingly innocuous motion that contained within it the allegation that Rodney Joffe, a tech executive, at the behest of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, spied on Trump, both in Trump Tower and his apartment and, later, in the White House. However, my cynicism is such that I doubted this would actually come to anything. Mark Wauck, a retired counter-intelligence special agent for the FBI is more optimistic.

Pro Football Hall of Famer John Riggins has demanded that his name be taken off of the new Washington Commanders jerseys, saying that he felt "dirty" seeing his name on a team jersey that wasn't his own.
"I feel completely disenfranchised. I can't understand how anyone who once played under the old franchise name could possibly want to be a part of anything to do with the Washington Commanders," Riggins, who was a star rusher for the Washington Redskins in the 1970s and 1980s, said.

Even if we don’t hear much about him anymore, John Durham is still hard at work.(Snip) According to Durham, who is clearly trying to signal at this point that he’s got the goods on a lot of people, Trump was not just spied on. Rather, he was actually spied on while president by outside allies of Perkins Coie, from Trump Tower to the actual Office of the President. (snip) This blows Watergate out of the water and makes it look like child’s play. (snip) Here you have associates of Hillary Clinton, and allies of the law firm she was contracting to get dirt on Trump, using government channels to spy on him.CORRECTION*

Joe Biden has tapped an LGBTQ+ activist, drag queen “pup” fetishist to be the deputy assistant secretary of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the Energy Department’s Office of Nuclear Energy.
The Politico reported the news on Thursday: (snip) Sam Brinton, according to his profile on an LGBTQ website, has “a dual Master’s degree in engineering systems and nuclear science and engineering from MIT.”
In his spare time, Brinton also enjoys roleplaying as a “pup handler,” and talking about having sex with animals. His drag queen alter ego is “Sister Ray Dee O’Active,” The National Pulse reported. Brinton is reportedly the son of Southern Baptist missionaries

Earlier this week, U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger released a statement in response to a complaint from Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas), who says the USCP illegally entered his office, took photos, and later interrogated his staff. According to Manger, “The weekend before Thanksgiving, one of our vigilant officers spotted the Congressman’s door was wide open.” As such, Manger said it is the responsibility of the USCP to document the incident and secure the office.
There’s just one problem with this explanation: (snip) This is the exact door @CapitolPolice claims their officer found “wide open” on that Saturday.
The door automatically closes. See for yourself.
How could this door be found wide open?

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, whose tenure in Albany ended last August after a sexual harassment probe from the state attorney general’s office, announced Thursday he plans to file formal ethics complaints against Attorney General Letitia James and the lawyers who led the independent investigation into the harassment allegations.
In a press conference, Cuomo attorney Rita Glavin said Cuomo would personally file the complaints himself as he claims James and Joon Kim and Anne Clarke all committed prosecutorial misconduct.
“The governor feels strongly that there was misconduct in the manner in which this investigation was conducted,” Glavin said.

Abortions in Texas fell by approximately 60 percent during the first month following the implementation of the state’s new law which bans most procedures once a fetal heartbeat can be detected.
Texas Health and Human Services officials report abortions in August numbered approximately 5,400. One month later, after the new Texas abortion law went into effect, that number fell to under 2,200, the Associated Press reported.

A George Soros-backed prosecutor in Northern Virginia is under fire after a registered sex offender was hired to work in her office.
The offender briefly served as a paralegal in Loudoun County commonwealth’s attorney Buta Biberaj’s (D.) office. He was dismissed from the post only after his probation officer made inquiries about his employment status with Biberaj’s office.
"I was kind of surprised how quickly the process went," the unidentified offender said in an interview with Fox 5, which first reported the story. "And I was expecting there to be the background check, of course. I mean, everybody does a background check these days."

A privately-held corporation associated with Democratic Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal and his wife bought and sold securities in the stock trading platform Robinhood while the senator and his colleagues called for investigations of the popular app.
Blumenthal, one of the wealthiest members of Congress, reported that a limited liability corporation bought and sold Robinhood shares on behalf of his wife in February, October, November and December 2021. Blumenthal failed to report the December trades in a timely fashion, violating a federal law that mandates reporting of financial activities.

The South African doctor who discovered the Omicron is now speaking out about how politicians and scientists pressured her to not publicly call the new COVID-19 variant a mild illness.
"I was told not to publicly state that it was a mild illness. I have been asked to refrain from making such statements and to say that it is a serious illness. I declined," Dr. Angelique Coetzee told the German newspaper Welt in a recent interview translated by The Epoch Times.
"In South Africa it is a lighter disease, but in Europe it has been a serious, serious illness, which is what the politicians want me to say."

In his preface to The Screwtape Letters, C.S. Lewis remarks, “There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight.”
I started thinking about Lewis and that quote while listening to a podcast on Wednesday that mentioned a woman who had been arrested for human trafficking at the southern border and whose reaction appeared to be right out of The Exorcist.
