Biden says NFL hiring more black head
coaches a question of ‘generic decency’

Original Article

The NFL’s dismal number of black head coaches shows a lack of “generic decency” from a league that hasn’t kept its promises, President Biden said in an interview airing Super Bowl Sunday. “They haven’t lived up to what they committed to and lived up to being open about hiring more minorities to run teams,” Biden told NBC News, referencing the football league’s purported commitments to diversifying leadership. “The whole idea that a league that is made up of so many athletes of color as well as so diverse, that there’s not enough African American qualified coaches to manage these NFL teams, it just seems to me that it’s a standard

Comments:

NFL teams choose the players they feel are the best, but choose someone other than the coach they think would be most able to help them win, according to the addled pea-brain of a man who never worked an honest day in his life, let alone never managed an organization in a competitive environment.

How about "competency"? The difference between the scoring record for a season with a GREAT coach and a slightly less great coach can be huge. I guess, like the military, competence is just unimportant these days. Incompetent folks running everything else....why not sports?

Dooooood...If ya wanna make sports an "Affirmative Action" industry, you need to start with hyping Asians on teams, coaching slots and as Top Admins. SERIOUSLY under represented. Saw an article not long ago about the 1st, and for a long time ONLY Black NFL referee/linejudge...HE said even though for decades he has tried to interest marginal & former players, from both college and Pro's to come aboard as Officials he has had little to no luck in the endeavor. They do not want to coach or officiate, only "Star" in the show.

The same logic he uses to select a Supreme Court nominee...color over competence. If the most competent person is a person of color, fine...but football teams winning is why they play.

The NFL is a business. They are in existence to make money for their team owners and investors. They make a lot more money by winning. So they get the best players and coaches they can, to try to win as much as they can. The only color most of the owners truly care about is green (as in $$$$$). So I seriously doubt most owners would be willing to shoot themselves in the proverbial feet to hire an affirmative action coach just because of his skin color, when a more qualified coach is available (regardless of his skin color). Hopefully most of the owners learned their lesson about what going woke cost them a few years ago with the whole "kneeling players" fiasco -- when so many fans turned off the TV and stopped buying tickets. My husband and I haven't watched a down of the NFL in probably 5 years, after being huge Cowboys fans for decades. We don't miss it at all, and certainly won't be watching the Super Bowl today. I know not-my-president Lyin' Joe biden believes in hiring incompetent people to make a woke statement (just look at his freakshow of a cabinet). And we are all paying the price for that idiocy. I can't see the NFL owners following suit, but, then again, I couldn't care less if they do. It won't affect me in the least!!!

There is NO greater Meritocracy than Sports, the only way to get to the Top, to be the best, is to BE the best, and no one can keep the Best down...nor is anyone even remotely interested in trying to....except through the built in requirements of Fair Play on the field. Even total azzholes make it to the Top, IF they are the Best at what they do.

The whole point of sports is to win. The reason there are so many black players is because they’re better than another white person in that particular position. They weren’t hired just because they’re black. Get over it, Brandon.

Using the EEOC's method of looking at the racial makeup of a group compared to the population, it seems to me that the black players are 'overrepresented' and thus the NFL is guilty of racial discrimination. EEOC does not care about competency or the ability to get the job done. It's all about RACE. But, being that 'the numbers' would indicate that it's White people being discriminated against, then the EEOC turns a blind eye.

Scores of congregations quit United Methodist

At least 130 congregations have quietly walked away from the United Methodist Church in a schism over the denomination’s planned acceptance of same-sex marriage and homosexual clergy. The breakaway congregations are keeping their church property thanks to a “conscience clause” enacted by the group’s legislative assembly in 2019. The United Methodist Church General Conference, the church’s governing body, is expected this year to approve a separation plan that would create two denominations: one affirming bans on gay clergy and same-sex marriage, and one permitting homosexual clergy and same-sex marriage. That move has been postponed because of the pandemic and might be delayed again.

New York—New York City fired more than a thousand workers who failed to comply with the city’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate, the mayor’s office said Monday. The 1,430 workers who lost their jobs represent less than 1% of the 370,000-person city workforce and are far fewer terminations than expected before a Friday deadline to get the shots. The city sent notices in late January to up to 4,000 workers, saying they had to show proof they got at least two doses of the vaccine or else they’d lose their jobs. Three-quarters of those workers had already been on leave without pay for months, having missed an earlier deadline

Most “either/or” questions are designed to make you choose, but sometimes the correct answer is “both.” When dealing with someone like President Joe Biden, it’s not always possible to know the answer to a simple question: is this man stupid, or is he just a liar? There is ample evidence of both, almost always, but the exact tilt of a scale and in which direction it points for the majority is not always clear. As such, you are sometimes left wondering which it is, but there is little doubt it is at least one and usually some combination of both. So what has me asking this?
