Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand strolled into an upstate eatery maskless, in violation of a statewide mandate, according to video footage posted by the irate restaurateur. John La Posta, manager of the Innovo gastropub in Latham, said Gillibrand blew past a large sign reading “masks required to enter,” and that his own staff didn’t even have time to ask her to put one on as she quickly brushed past them toward the tables.(Snip)In December fellow Dem Gov. Hochul announced that indoor masking would be required “in all indoor public places unless businesses or venues implement a vaccine requirement.” Noncompliance can bring a $1,000 fine. The Federal Aviation Administration said on Friday that it's reviewing a proposal from FedEx that would allow the company to install a laser-based missile-defense on its Airbus A321-200 airplanes. FedEx Corp in October 2019 applied for approval to use a feature that emits infrared laser energy outside the aircraft as a countermeasure against heat-seeking missiles, the FAA disclosed in a document.(Snip)The airline industry and several governments have been grappling with the threat to airliners from shoulder-fired missiles known as Man-Portable Air Defense Systems, or MANPADs, for decades, with some using infrared systems to target an aircraft's engines.

A 79-year-old man with a cane was walloped in Brooklyn by a complete stranger driving a moped—an alarming and unprovoked attack caught on video, police said Saturday. The senior was talking to another person on Fourth Ave. near Carroll St. in Park Slope about 12 p.m. Friday when the suspect rolled down the bike lane on a moped, surveillance video recovered by police shows. The assailant parked the moped and quietly walked over to the victim, looking around as he approached the unsuspecting senior. The victim didn’t even notice the stranger until he reeled back and sucker-punched the elderly man on the side of the face,

Washington–The Federal Election Commission has tossed out a 2019 complaint against Rep. Ilhan Omar from a conservative group alleging the Minnesota Democrat illegally spent campaign funds on her now-husband's political consulting firm. "The FEC's unanimous 6-0 ruling confirms what we've said from the beginning: This was a baseless effort by a right-wing group to smear the congresswoman," Omar campaign spokesman Isi Baehr-Breen said in a text message. "We're glad people now have a better idea of the kind of tactics the right wing is willing to use to try to smear and silence Rep. Omar. Good riddance."

Downing Street held 'wine-time Fridays' every week throughout the pandemic which Boris Johnson attended, with staff even investing in a £142 drinks fridge to keep their beer, prosecco and wine cold, it has been claimed. Government aides were encouraged by the prime minister, who regularly oversaw the gatherings, to 'let off steam' at the regular drinks which would often continue until the early hours, at a time when Britons were banned from socialising indoors, sources told The Mirror.(Snip)At the time, households were not allowed to mix indoors or in most outdoor places with exemptions for people in support bubbles, and a maximum of six people were allowed

Prosecutors in soft-on-crime Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office are flooding the exits amid his “radical shift in policy,” The Post has learned. Bragg’s controversial “Day One” memo issued on Jan. 3 told assistant district attorneys to not seek prison sentences for many criminals and to downgrade some felonies to misdemeanors. His leadership has already created a firestorm that has led to an online petition calling for him to be removed.
“I know one [ADA] who was with the office over 20 years who left without a job,” said a law enforcement source. “They didn’t want to work in this kind of office. They wanted to continue prosecuting

As millions prepare for their fuel bills to double this year, MPs will be protected from the soaring costs. That is because those who represent seats outside London can claim back the cost of their electricity and gas on expenses. No fewer than 316 MPs put in utilities claims in 2020-2021, with dozens claiming more than the average household’s dual fuel tariff of £1,138. Analysis of data published by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) shows that claims for utilities totalled £262,454 in 2019-20, of which £206,717 was for gas, electricity and other types of fuel.
