McConnell open to changing how Congress

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said he would consider changes to the way Congress certifies presidential elections, telling reporters in the Capitol Wednesday the system might need reform. “It’s worth discussing,” the Kentucky Republican said. Lawmakers in both parties are eyeing legislation that would change the ease with which lawmakers can object to presidential election results following last year’s riot at the U.S Capitol on Jan. 6, the day both the House and Senate met to certify President Joe Biden’s victory under the Electoral Count Act.

This is why the Republican party should be scrapped. It works with the Democrat party to solidify total control for the swamp. Mitch does not work for us, he works for the uniparty. We must end the lie that is the Republican Party and for a MAGA party. NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE AS LONG AS THE STATUS QUO IS ALLOWED TO PERPETUATE ITSELF. We are not free and we will never be free as long as the current situation continues.

Easy. Have one day for voting. All voters much have a photo ID proving they are who they say they are and proof of residency. No mail in ballots. Absentee ballots much be collected and counted on the same day as election day. Each electronic vote must be verified by the voter with a hard copy of that person's vote presented to said voter.

"The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President..." There is no mention of challenges in the constitution. Each state has its own "presidential election" and electors are appointed in accordance with state law, not federal. There is no constitutional requirement for "winner take all" from each state. The VP has no role, except as the President of the Senate. And then to receive and open, in the presence of a joint session, the certificates and add the totals to determine a winner. This is what the '20 election challengers failed to recognize. The STATES are the key, and the STATES operate in their own ways. Challenges should have been made first at state level, not in the courts, but with the legislatures. But lawyers have to litigate, and the courts plainly told them they were taking the wrong course - particularly a Federal judge in Wisconsin, a Trump appointee. All that essentially happens outside in Washington is the largely ceremonial counting of electoral votes. This other challenge nonsense is too little too late.

U.S. prosecutors decided to end their criminal case against two Manhattan jail guards who admitted to falsifying records on the night the financier Jeffrey Epstein killed himself on their watch. In a Thursday filing in Manhattan federal court, prosecutors asked a judge to dismiss claims against Tova Noel and Michael Thomas, after both complied with the six-month deferred prosecution agreements they agreed to in May. Epstein was found hanging in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on Aug. 10, 2019, while awaiting trial for sex trafficking, in what New York City's medical examiner called a suicide.

The time-honored tradition of naming a law professorship after a famous scholar or donor has gone off the rails a bit at a University of Arkansas law school — and the twist involves none other than the would-be honoree himself, former President Bill Clinton. Newly released records show the scandal-plagued former president had withdrawn his approval for a teaching chair to be named after himself at the William H. Bowen School of Law. Yet emeritus professor John DiPippa, who has held the post since it was first endowed in 2000, recently dubbed it the Clinton chair anyway.
