Some passengers were enduring one of the worst trips ever Tuesday as winter weather continued to wreak havoc not only with road travel but also Amtrak trains, where stranded passengers said they were dealing with overflowing toilets and a lack of food. Amtrak's Crescent, which left New Orleans on Sunday on its way to New York, got stuck north of Lynchburg, Virginia, on Monday morning, returned to Lynchburg and remained there until finally heading northbound again late Tuesday afternoon. Officials said downed trees had been blocking the tracks. Earlier Tuesday, passenger Sean Thornton said in a phone interview that the

Let's hope those billions of dollars Joe is throwing at Amtrak will do some good (it won't, of course). The wife and I thought it might be fun to take the train instead of flying from Chicago to Dallas. Perfect weather the whole way. We arrived 10 hours late.

Trees fallen on tracks is an unprecedented, complex problem that no society has ever faced before. Biden will probably push for a $billion program of gender diverse tree removers, tree trimming education loans, new laws preventing young white or hispanic men from getting all the tree removal work and giant studies about sexual harassment of female lumberjackettes.

When an AMTRAK train breaks down away from a city where AMTRAK has a support base, and that happens sometimes hundreds of miles from an AMTRAK support base, the passengers are bound to be in trouble. In this instance in rural Virginia, people who know how to fix frozen and overfull toilets on railway passenger coaches are as rare as hens teeth. Beyond that, AMTRAK only has on board enough food to get to their next support base on their normal schedule, so when something unexpected happens stopping a train for a long period of time they are bound to run out of food.

#4 you are a great wordsmith. What happens to the trees that were removed? Does the gov't/Amtrak pay the local squirrels/birds/etc millions for removing their habitats? The amount would be doubled if there are any spotted owls in that area.

Once in a while here in Nevada, we see Amtrak go through. Then we have to determine if it was East or West. If it was going West, we know that it is so tardy that another meal will have to be served on board.

Imagine if Amtrak was using all electric Green trains! The would all have sat in the dark and frozen to death along with non functional toilets! Luckily they had fossil fuel powered generators to keep the lights and heat on!

In the olden days, REAL railroads had trains that had huge snow blowers on the front. I have seen them as recently as 35 years ago, in a rail yard. Probably cut them up for scrap, because they DON'T CARE about service any more.

He started irritating them around a year ago when he criticized politicians who didn’t obey their own COVID-19 mandates. More recently he deplored the “woke mob” and “cancel culture.” The woke mob became truly apoplectic when Rodgers wasn’t clear about his vaccination status and then spoke with popular podcaster Joe Rogan, subsequently saying he had availed himself of the same COVID-19 treatment Rogan claimed to have used successfully. You know, the so-called “horse de-wormer.” Which is not a Dr. Fauci-approved “vaccine.”
