Who needs soft-on-crime judges when the district attorney doesn’t even want to lock up the bad guys? Manhattan’s new DA has ordered his prosecutors to stop seeking prison sentences for hordes of criminals and to downgrade felony charges in cases including armed robberies and drug dealing, according to a set of progressive policies made public Tuesday. In his first memo to staff on Monday, Alvin Bragg said his office “will not seek a carceral sentence” except with homicides and a handful of other cases, including domestic violence felonies, some sex crimes and public corruption.(Snip)Assistant district attorneys must also now keep in mind the “impacts of incarceration”

As a public service, Bragg should issue "Get out of Jail Free" cards to every punk in Manhattan. On the back it can list the crimes he will refuse to prosecute, things like armed robbery, burglary, and fentanyl distribution.

Only a damned fool would set foot in NYC, or in the rest of New York State, for that matter.
It takes no great leap of logic, by the way, to say that since san armed robber won't be charged with a felony, that self defense against the armed robber is not appropriate.
And that, in turn, will be the prosecution of victims who try to defend themselves.
And who is the fat grinning DA going to hurt the most? Members of the minority community.
Finally, how about that gutless new mayor?

He might as well resign and save the taxpayers a lot of money. The Guardian Angels will do better.

It is well known that the Soros DA of Manhattan has the principal mission of convicting President Trump of anything, anything at all. He now has freed considerable resources to that end.

What could possibly go wrong? He's literally announcing that he won't be prosecuting the people the cops arrest. If I was a cop, why would I risk my life daily? I'd sit in my cruiser and drink coffee all day.

Had the "pleasure" of a visit to NYC. years ago. I found it to be a noisy crowded smelly assemblage of concrete canyons populated by rude, arrogant, condescending jagoffs with waay more self-esteem than self. Now they are creating an actual criminal class. If you can make it there you'll make it anywhere ? I don't want to and I will never ever go back.

Same as San Francisco. That's why I don't go there anymore unless absolutely required and even then I make sure I'm out before dark.
You get what you vote for. Well deserved. Yay New York!

Braggadogio and the new mayor will finish up what Wilhelm did not manage to accomplish. All I can say is, don't bother visiting what's left of NYC. If you do, make sure you have a good life insurance policy.

Makes me think of an old song. "There'll be a hot time in the old town tonight".
Enjoy what you voted for people. If you don't like it, perhaps you could find a 'law and order' candidate to vote for.
Especially "fun" when being armed to protect yourself is illegal. And pepper spray is illegal. And stun guns are illegal.

So the criminals in the city have just been told that if they leave the knives and guns at home, they can get away with anything.

Rotten Apple voters disliked Bill De Blasio so much that they elected his clone, only this one has a big you-know-what-eating grin and that deep dark tan that's oh so fashionable these days. And his new Soros DA is picking up right where the old one left off, setting criminals free because prison causes disparate impacts on his people.
