Virginia School District Targets Inequity
by Shooting at Grades and Deadlines

For those currently in school who’ve been oppressed by the evils of conditions, rejoice: You may soon receive unconditional love. At least that’s the case if your classroom’s in Arlington, Virginia. Arlington Public Schools (APS) seems sick of differences in the world, so it’s decided to attain supreme sameness. Since pupils will meet objective standards to varying degrees, standards should be shrugged off. Unless I misunderstand, if we pretend everyone’s alike, then they magically are. The district’s proposed a four-point fundamental overhaul in the name of that greatest of goods, equity.

Comments:

For the left, "equity" means everyone is equal in their poor performance.

Why have a "school" and "teachers" at all? Get the kids together at 8 am in a playground, let them mill around like cows til 2:30, send em home. That's equity. No pressure, no expectations, no achievement, kinda like the ghetto.

Unfortunately in Oregon, we have a governor who shows her own hatred of struggling kids by condemning them to permanent poverty instead of maybe going hardcase on the teachers who aren't teaching them. Getting rid of failing grades removes the proof for parents that teachers just are not doing their jobs. It also insults the kids who are making better grades by devaluing those better grades.

Punishing hard work, skill, and merit satisfies two major goals of the Left: 1. Promotion of blacks and Hispanics over evil Jews, other whites, and Asians. 2. Creation of the “Marxist New Man” by re-education of children to reject and despise individual accomplishments.

This is not going to help black kids. They won't even be able to do simple math and won't be able to make sense when they talk, much less write a decent letter or even a cogent text. There is always welfare, and maybe that's the plan. Make people so stupid that they will always have to live on the government plantation.

"Equity" means equal failure with no means to succeed in individual goals and talents. What society can survive this insanity. You can be sure that those in control will succeed in running your life. Who wants that for themselves or their children?

Nothing says equality quite like dragging everyone down to the lowest common denominator. Why don't they just say we are such pathetic freaking failures we can't raise students up so we will make them all equal to the worst among them, we don't have to work, they don't have to work, no one is better than anyone else, and everyone is happy.

For a laugh see today’s NY Post .There is a copy of the letter the President ! of Arlington’s teacher’s union wrote recently . She is demanding more closures and “safety “ procedures for the members & the students of Arlington. The letter is incoherent and littered with grammatical errors .One parent corrected it’s punctuational and grammatical errors & sent it back to the “president “ grades as a student’s essay . Prezzy , by her demands , obviously wants more folks joining her on the bottom row of academic achievements

The whole purpose is to move all students to the democratic plantation where they will be totally dependent on the government for survival. This is done because democrats are the party of slavery. And, just like the old plantations of the south, slaves were never taught how to read, write or do math. Why, keep'em dumb and you keep their vote. You see, if you're an illiterate democrat you have sold the souls of your children to your communist party. Get it morons.

the demcommies in Virginia won't give up until the state is in full, blown out chaos. that's the way demcommies do their business, create a problem and then tell everyone they have the solution but it takes a while to develop and implement it. are these school board people being paid for being on that board? bet, they are!!

And this is why I do support teachers' unions and have little respect for today's teachers. Used to be, teachers did their best to raise their students to the level of the goalposts. Nowadays, teachers move the goalposts down to the level of the students. Which one of these actually TEACHES the students?

The only standards that matter to them are the standards they set for being cancelled or not. If their ideology of equity above everything were self-consistent, they would either have a rigorous gauntlet for students to achieve passing grades, or give everybody and everything a passing grade, no matter what they think, say, or do in life. Or, just perhaps, have a person's status in everything be proportional to their relative merit and manifest results.

Democrats and liberal media have been losing their minds over a fake conspiracy about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis going “missing” during this past week. As we pointed out, that was nonsense. Not only wasn’t DeSantis missing, but he was working and in the office over the week , as well as taking his wife to cancer treatments. So, the left was attacking a family that was having to deal with a serious medical illness. How slimy can you possibly be? You would hope they would learn a lesson but they wouldn’t. They’ve become so tribal now, some just have no morals left.

Wait, what? So you mean that the tests aren’t accurate to tell if you still have the virus now? And that you’re just telling us that they might throw positives for up to 12 weeks, even after you might no longer be contagious?

The American justice system failed former Brooklyn Center police officer Kimberly Potter. From the initial release of body camera footage, it was clear she made a tragic and deadly mistake. End of story. Full stop. Nothing was criminal about what happened, unless you consider the fact that Daunte Wright was a thugging animal who was pulled over for legitimate reasons and later attempted to be detained lawfully because of outstanding warrants for violence against women. As the trial played out, my own beliefs surrounding the charges were only inured. Officers knew of his violent and extensive criminal background at the time of, and indeed were the reason for, his arrest.

As you may have heard, shootings and murders are up around the country. That’s especially true in Philadelphia which had already recorded more murders this year than either New York City or Los Angeles. Progressive DA Larry Krasner’s response to that spike in violence has been denial. “We don’t have a crisis of lawlessness, we don’t have a crisis of crime, we don’t have a crisis of violence,” Krasner said earlier this month. Today, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports Krasner’s office is in chaos after 261 attorneys have decided they’d had enough of working there and quit. That’s out of an office of about 340 lawyers.

Joe Biden is set to speak today on his “new” COVID measures. But while we don’t have a scheduled time on that yet because the White House obviously has to make sure he’s physically capable before they trot him out there, we do have the details of what he’s going to say. This morning, the administration released a document that included a lot of the same. Nothing listed here strikes me as making a difference, nor does the data support the need to battle Omicron in this way. The entire thing reads like a weird mix of stolen credit and humble-bragging.

If you aren’t white, you may not be able to go way outside. At least, that appears to be the belief of a North Carolina State University professor. KangJae “Jerry” Lee — of the school’s College of Natural Resources — recognizes the racism keeping you from enjoying the great outdoors. Cultural differences, he asserts, can’t explain why there aren’t more black people fishing, hunting, and hiking. Also an insufficient excuse: income disparity. The instructor laments America’s adventure/nature gap, but he’s bulls-eyed the culprit: systemic racism. Wichita’s KAKE recently jawed it up with Jerry on the lack of outdoor equity.

I am confused: Are you concerned about saving lives or just making sure your life isn’t too inconvenienced?

It’s long past time for that consideration, although Henry Olsen likely doesn’t disagree. He cites “progressives’ irresistible force” clashing against Joe Manchin’s immovable fiscal realism as an end stage, but that has been the clash all along. Neither side in this game of chicken appears ready to swerve, and therefore the inevitable crash will come. As could have been predicted at about the time that progressives called Manchin “racist,” but I digress slightly: It’s theoretically easy to meet Manchin’s bottom line by stripping most of the items out of the bill and focusing on one or two large programs.

Trump is hugely popular with the party’s base and that popularity freezes the plans of other possible candidates for the 2024 nomination. Trump’s hold on that nomination is brittle, however, because of his age. On election day in 2024 Donald Trump will be 78 years old. He claimed that Republicans should not be allowed to block the Freedom to Vote Act, using the vehicle of the filibuster, that only further enshrines and expands the American right to vote.
