The number of people moving to California has significantly dropped since the pandemic started last year, while the number of people fleeing the state continues to rise, according to a new study.
"I guess I was a little bit surprised to see that entrances had fallen so much. It wasn't so much that we saw it in a particular area. For me, the surprise was that this was a statewide phenomenon," co-author of the study from California Police Lab, Evan White, told KCRA.The study found a 38% decrease in people moving to California at the end of September 2021 compared to the end of March 2020.

At this point, there is absolutely no reason to move to California unless there is a major shift in the political direction. Even giving up a well paying job would be better at this point then moving to California.

A little surprised? The guy can't figure it out? He must be a very low I.Q public employee. He should contact Texas and Florida equivalents. They could tell him why.

I guess the great weather of the sunshine state gets discarded by all of the people who don't want to live under communism / fascism.

Cost of living, crime, earthquakes, crime, fires, crime, smog, crime, riots, crime, traffic, crime and increasing lunacy.

A major part of this is that the state recently invalidated all single-family home zoning laws in order to provide more housing, undoubtedly for illegal aliens. That means existing homes can be divided, replaced by apartments, or dwelling units added (2nd story, mini-homes, garages, etc) on to in order to provide additional housing units, without regard to other concerns, such as lot-line clearances, off-street parking, etc. That appears to have started a huge buying surge by profiteers intending to turn single-family properties into multi-family income properties.
I have friends that wanted to move to California to be close to their grandchildren as soon as they were eligible for retirement, a dream they'd had for years. They retired earlier this year, sold their home, and moved quickly to purchase a home in CA. Working with a real estate agent, and recognizing the wildly escalating CA housing prices, they made simultaneous above-asking-price bids on six homes but were outbid on all six. Devastated, they decided they could not afford to move to CA and bought a home nearby to replace the one they had just sold.

I have moved to beautiful rural area in California, because I love my state. It is wonderful here. Trump/Pence signs are still up and large and proud all over the place. It feel like I am not in even the same state since I moved from the heart of liberal land. We are outnumbered, but we do have conservatives here voting and fighting the good fight.

I believe you #5, and understand.....but basically you have chose to be entirely disenfranchised on a state level, and live under lunatic rules that apply even in your sensible rural area. Best wishes, hope it all works out for you, but, personally, I left decades and decades ago, and while I have visited many, many, many times, I always am really happy when it is disappearing in the rear view and I reach the sanctuary of Arizona or Nevada, or as the wheels clank into the wells on an airliner, or my plane.

It won't be long before there will only be two classes left...the wealthy and that includes politicians and the poor. No middle class. I was in Tuscon a couple of years ago and we took an Uber downtown. The driver was a nice, chatty black guy who said he had to move his family from San Diego because they couldn't afford to live there even with he and his wife both working.

The dream of working class people getting away from the snow (Frost Backs, thanks John Candy) is gone. Hippies and Hollywood destroyed Eden.

I was born and raised in Southern California. I witnessed the entire transformation of the once-Golden State. I saw the vast orange groves and wineries disappear to make room for high-density housing. Traffic everywhere became a huge headache. Smog became a daily plague. Schools became unmanageable when corporal punishment got phased out. I remember the Coachella Valley without windmills and solar farms. The liberals migrated into the state because they love the warm climate and beaches just like normal people do, but their damned politics ruined it for everybody else. I’m fortunate to live comfortably where I am, but if given the youth and resources, I’d leave in a heartbeat.

I would advise any non-communist US taxpayer to stay away from Cali-zuela.
On the other hand I would advise giving all released predators and apprehended illegals a one-way bus ticket to Cali-zuela.
