The Salvation Army pays a big price for
its foray into wokedom

Original Article

Posted By: Magnante, 12/16/2021 3:57:22 AM

In November, the Salvation Army officially went woke, declaring that, after soul searching, it was calling upon all White people associated with or donating to the Salvation Army to admit their racism and repent. After an angry response from the public, the Salvation Army itself repented...of its wokeness and it walked back its message. It was too late, though. Local Salvation Army chapters are seeing 50% drops in both volunteers and donations. Get Woke; Go Broke. (snip) Antifa won’t pony up money or labor and those normal people who usually do aren’t going to this year.

I don't think that I will ever be able to trust them enough to go back to donating, despite any amount of backpedaling they may do. I have moved on and found other charities that are not offended by me.

It is unfortunate that these organizations allow wokesters in positions of power. I would like to know who it was who thought this was a good idea. Name names and assure your donors that you have reasonable adults running the show and not a bunch of woke fools who believe virtue signaling is a good business practice. When people in power make a really stupid decision they should pay a price along with whomever approved it. It is time to start holding people accountable. If organizations fail to do this when needed, the public will definitely do that job for them. Look what damage this has done to the SA. Was it worth it?

You cannot stab us in the back with your "wokeness knife" and expect to receive our support. We will take our dollars and time elsewhere. I am waiting for one of these organizations to publish a paper on why the black community is their own worst enemy. 85% of child born out of wedlock, do not participate in their own education, black on black crime in general, a black man;s chances of being murdered by another black is insanely high, you cannot hang with people who steal, carry guns, drink too much and sell drugs and expect a good life. These are just a few of the bullet points you can start with. There are so many more. Don't pin their mess on me. You have lost my support forever.

Leftist loons must be secretly smiling, since thui is a bonus situation for them. They don't like religion, and they don't like charity. (Dementia Jo and Adultress Jill, according to their tax forms released, gave less than 200 dollars to charity in any given year. And since they are living in sin (Jo is married to a divorced woman, which, under Church law is adultery) they represent the leftist loons quite well. I believe Samaritan's Purse to be an excellent charity and will support them from here on out. The Salvation Army, which I have supported for 60 years, is now dead to me.

As a former parole/probation officer I always thought the Salvation Army program was the best resource for addicts and alcoholics. A combination of work therapy (very hard tedious work), introduction to the 12- step model of recovery, and Christian services is a powerful combination that would put men back on their feet in six months. They would take almost anyone, even right out to jail, and there was no insurance or government funding needed. The men would be paid in room and board and maybe get $5.00 a week -so much better than the revolving door of drug and alcohol rehabs. Sad to see, but all wokeness much be punished and opposed. It's destroying our country.

Give more of your volunteer time and contributions to local charities. There are many ways to give locally all year round - food banks, group homes for children, safe places for domestically-abused women, etc., and many more ways to give locally at Christmas.

Kinda reminds me of the communist in the Vatican when he condemns capitalism as if he doesn’t seem to have a clue that his collection plates would be empty without it. On Monday I did my annual end of the year purge of my closet and household items. In the past I have always given these items to the SA. Not this year. There’s a Habitat for Humanity resale store a few blocks from my house and everything was donated there.

FTA: “After an angry response from the public, the Salvation Army itself repented...of its wokeness and it walked back its message.” NO! Salvation Army did NOT repent or walk back its offensive message. It withdrew its offending Study Guide, but neither disavowed nor apologized for the guide’s assertion of collective white guilt from merely being born white. Salvation Army not only failed to disavow and repent its blood libel, but doubled down in its statement withdrawing the guide by castigating and insulting anyone who objected to it. Salvation Army leaders do not have even the first inkling of a clue what just happened, or why. Clearly they see nothing wrong with their document that asserted collective white blood guilt, nor do they have any understanding of how profoundly unchristian blood libels are. Hint to Salvation Army: you might not want to issue a Study Guide titled “Jews: Born Christ Killers.” The Salvation Army cannot cease to exist fast enough to suit me. It is lost. Mourn it and move on.

The only thing I repent is having given this organization money, furniture and clothing over the years! The dummies on their BOD are not my confessor ... nor can they hand out forgiveness. They are not the Lord! Why do they want my racist money anyway? According to them --- it has "minority" blood on it. No church of any kind that I know of would take gold from the Nazis ... knowing where it came from! The SA can get its money from BLM, Antifa, etc. Good luck with that! There needs to be a huge restructuring and a very public apology and a claim that they are under "new management" before they will be able to shake this off. And that moment may never come now.

The SA has really blown it bigtime. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. For me, I could care less what happens to the SA as a result of its wokeness. My donations between now and the end of the year are going in a different direction. Donating to the Victor Saracini Memorial Scholarship fund at New Mexico Tech, my alma mater. Vic was piloting United Flight 175 on 9/11. Vic was a good guy. We were in the same degree program. I will also be contributing to Lifeline Pilots. And the JJ Watt Foundation. I showed my local symphony orchestra the door due to their sudden wokeness and recent proof of vax mandate and will not be donating to them.

Leftists don't donate to charities. So the decision to come out with a woke message makes no sense for an organization that depends on donations from the public. I'll assume that the heads of the Salvation Army wanted to be with the in crowd and thought they could protect the people who would be bell ringers from the woke mob that robs and burns businesses. The people in charge may have looked at this as a way to protect not only the bell ringers out on the street, but also those little red pots with money.

#17 is on the right trail. I'm sure the board room that made this decision is completely out of touch with the people running their shelters in every city. These people on the ground who are slugging it out helping men in crisis are probably as mad as we are, at what has been done to decimate their work. Unfortunately they will have to bail on the national brand and start small and locally. The lesson for charities is take the time to watch very carefully their governing boards that select their CEOs.

Off topic just a bit, but several months ago I sent a modest check to a charitable organization I felt close to. Within a few weeks I became inundated from other charities with their hands out. It was obvious that my information had been shared or sold to every group on the planet. I am still getting an average 5 - 6 items a day, some I have never heard of. I have stopped supporting any national organization and will only spend my money on locals.

Almost all the institutions of every type in the USA have gone woke. Each of those institutions will ultimately either close or find a sacrificial lamb to place the blame on. The AP, the fake news, the NFL, most large retail chains, Gillette, the list goes on and on. Most church denominations are also struggling with this insanity.

The Salvation Army helped me out (1987) when I got stranded in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Seemed they practiced what they preached - until now. My donations, be they money or items for a thrift store go to those local charities I know and trust: local animal rescue groups. No offense but forget Habitat for Humanity - another organization making lots of money on the poverty industry. Husband volunteers at local resale store and you would be amazed at the number of full-time paid employees, aka managers that HFH employs. And everyime they feature a new home built by our local chapter, it goes to a black or Hispanic family.

Since the new chosen race of special indignant persons is foisted on America white guilts, millennial hipsters, angry black women and others in their wokeness infiltrated many organizations and businesses. An organization can't be this dumb to condemn the very heart of the support for their charity. CRT is a horrible disease it will ruin many more before this is over. I have one credo in life if you target one group or race of people with your product then let that group help you survive because they don't need my support. Salvation Army made a huge mistake listening to someone's bad advice. Was it done on purpose but supporting racism like this is a death knell. Good white supporters are very disappointed, but the SA made their bed to lie in. MAGA

When my nephews got old enough to not need presents from their aunt, I gave extra to the SA in their names, in part to encourage them to learn about SA, its storied history and commitment to the gospel. I am heartsick now. I've looked at the national website for any sign that they are serious about the grave misjudgment they have made. I don't believe for a moment that the ranks of the SA have capitulated to a godless secular left wing pursuit of anarchy. But clearly the organization has been infiltrated like so many others (see Souther Baptist Convention). What to do now? I have been trying to think of a way to make my point to them without causing further damage to an otherwise wonderful organization. It came to me this morning. I will write out a check as I usually do but not sign or date it. I will staple to it a note explaining why and sharing my grief over the present circumstance and drop it in the kettle. If someone contacts me personally and can assure me that there is still hope for the future of SA, I will ask them to return the check to me so I can finish filling it out. Until then they will get nothing from me. Ramona (the Pest)

SA, like other religious organizations, has a 1st Amendment right to express political views - IRS notwithstanding. Religion and politics have inextricable historic links. However, there are consequences for alienating many of their donors/supporters. They must prioritize their mission. Their organization .. their choice.

The Salvation Army made a very bad assumption that the charitable givers, who are mainly white conservatives, have been cowed into believing we are all evil racist oppressors. We aren’t accepting that role and by November next year everyone will know it. They can delete anything they want from their website. They can’t unsay what they said. We will move on to a charity that has not been infested with hateful liberals.

If the Salvation Army had demanded that black people apologize for their year-long tantrum of murder, rioting, looting and burning their own neighborhoods, the donations would be a lot higher. Woke and Broke is a fairly easy lesson to learn. Maybe Patrisse Cullers could give back a mansion or two? On the Good News front, the fat white girl who was the top official in Mensa was voted out of office this year for her incredibly stupid George Floyd apology, labeling of Mensa as a White Supremacist group and introduction of diversity and inclusion in a very selective society that pays no attention to race.

Here's an interesting tidbit on the Salvation Army turnaround. On Will Cain's program last night a black sister in Christ, forgot her name, said a friend dropped out of the Salvation Army Church because the Church was becoming WOKE! Now that's probably where the genesis of the CRT started. In the SA Churches and then it spread to the Ministry of the Salvation Army. As we say in our Christian circles, it looks like the devil got in the pulpit.

It would be interesting to find out how much the SA spent to develop this piece of garbage. You know it wasn't written internally: they paid some CRT consulting organization a pretty penny to put their nice brochure together; ergo, this was just another expenditure that doesn't get spent on the needy people. This is another reason why woke, top-heavy charitable organizations are not a good place to donate your money. Agree with many other posters: find a local charity, vet them, and then donate to them.

If they had immediately admitted that what they did was racist and evil and wrong, ended it, and fired anyone responsible for it, I might believe that they are genuine. But instead, they just tried to back pedal, make excuses, and not actually do anything -- all which shows me that they are only sorry that they got caught!!! They went from being a Christian organization doing charitable work to being a woke racist PC group in a matter of minutes. But it will take years for them to recover. Their leaders need to do some serious praying and soul-searching at what their mission truly is!!! After decades of putting at least $50 in their kettles every Christmas season, they didn't see a penny from me this year.

Even in the face of data showing that Covid “vaccines” do not prevent transmission of the virus but do cause extremely high rates of adverse events to be reported, the US (and much of the world’s) medical establishment remains fully committed to pushing universal vaccinations. (snip) If there is one dramatic case study that seems to upend the vaccination absolutists, it is Africa, many of whose countries are too poor to have mass vaccination programs, yet which has the lowest death toll from Covid in the world. The AP reported last year: Scientists mystified, wary, as Africa avoids COVID disaster

In 2021, Disney greenlit Strange World, an animated movie about a family journeying through a mysterious land to save a resource that’s losing its energy. Bob Iger, who is returning to Disney to “save” it from Bob Chapek’s sad tenure, was still on board in 2021, so he must have greenlit it. That’s a relevant fact because the movie bombed at the box office. Coincidentally or not, the movie has an openly gay subtext as one of the main male characters crushes on another boy. Before the movie opened, the media wanted audiences to know about the gay romance, probably under the mistaken belief that audiences would care:

You know the story: a man wakes up after a century-long bout of suspended animation to find… orbital colonies? Contact with aliens? Cheap universal fusion power? Nope – he finds a culture inhabited by ill-dressed goons speaking in monosyllables, with no understanding of history or the natural world or anything else, surrounded by shoddy, fake technology. The president is a dreadlocked idiot. The average IQ hovers around 65. Sure… you know that one. It’s Idiocracy, the comic film from 2006. Except that it isn’t -- it’s “The Marching Morons,” a 1951 short story by C.M. Kornbluth. That’s where the producers of Idiocracy got it,

When all of our hopes for the conservation of liberty have been destroyed by the same type of schemes that we all should have seen coming a mile away? In a show of defiance that inspired audience applause, at the end of her diatribe, Obama motioned to her current hairstyle and exclaimed, “Braids, ya’ll!” For Michelle Obama, “overcoming in uncertain times” requires a new hairdo and self-help book tour

As vote counts continue to be posted, it is clear that Republican hopes and dreams of a huge wave election have been dashed. (snip) But in one state, Florida, Republicans have triumphed in tsunami-like proportions. With 98% of the vote counted, Marco Rubio has a 16.4% landslide lead over Senate challenger Val Demings, and Governor Ron DeSantis has a 19.4% lead, a gigantic increase over his fraction of one percent squeaker victory 4 years ago. It’s going to take some time to figure out why the rest of the country isn’t behaving like the Sunshine State, but 3 factors suggest themselves.

Ron DeSantis is getting the lion’s share of national attention for his sweeping victory...adding almost 20 points to his margin of victory in 2018, when he barely won the governorship. Among his pillars of support was his strong opposition to COVID shutdowns of businesses and schools and his opposition to vaccine mandates. But 2 other statewide races on Tuesday featured incumbent candidates who vigorously fought against COVID shutdowns and mandatory vaccines. And in both races the incumbents won victories with even bigger margins than DeSantis. In Kentucky, with 87% of the vote counted, Rand Paul is winning re-election to the Senate with a 22.8% margin)

It’s a tricky business to glean predictive data from early voting in any election. This is particularly true of the Georgia Senate runoff between incumbent Democrat Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker. Nonetheless, the 1.8 million ballots that were cast through last Friday, when early voting ended, provide some useful information. One datum in particular should encourage the Walker campaign — the number of older voters who cast early ballots swamped their younger counterparts.

Hawaii's Mauna Loa volcano is likely going to reach a major highway in the state unimpeded, as it moves within 2.5 miles of traffic on Sunday.  Many people on the Big Island in Hawaii are bracing for major upheaval if lava from Mauna Loa slides across a key road and blocks the quickest route connecting two sides of the island. The molten rock could make the road impassable and force drivers to find alternate coastal routes in the north and south. That could add hours to commute times, doctor's visits, and lorry deliveries.

The vindication for President Donald Trump on a number of fronts is just beginning. The malign actors know it and they are angry with rage at the prospect of what it means. Losing control of the people’s House last month was bad enough. Now they have this “Twitter thing” that is not within their authoritarian control. They don’t have the free hand to tip the scale in their favor. They don’t have the ability to gaslight the nation with dishonest narrative about their political enemies. They see glimpses of the future if things proceed as they currently are—and they are very afraid. They should be.

Reports surfaced two weeks ago that Florida Republicans are considering changing the state’s “resign-to-run” law so Governor Ron DeSantis could throw his hat in the ring for the 2024 presidential nomination without losing his governorship. It is one sign among many that DeSantis, or those close to him, are thinking about taking on Donald Trump in the primary. A word of warning and wisdom to DeSantis: Don’t do it. DeSantis is a promising politician with a real future on the national scene. He should want to be president. But not yet. DeSantis needs to understand his true self-interest. Running for president in 2024 isn’t it.

Some New York lawmakers are renewing the push for a state law that would lay the groundwork to pay reparations to black residents whose ancestors were enslaved. Proponents gained steam after a task force in California last week recommended that the Golden State shell out $569 billion in reparations to slaves’ descendents there, or $223,200 apiece, because of lingering housing discrimination practices. A previously proposed New York measure called for creating a commission to study the impact of slavery and providing reparations but failed to pass the legislature. It is now being revised, backers said.

The current “media”—loosely defined as the old major newspapers like the New York Times and Washington Post, the network news channels, MSNBC and CNN, PBS and NPR, the online news aggregators like Google, Apple, and Yahoo, and the social media giants like the old Twitter and Facebook—are corrupt. They have adopted in their news coverage a utilitarian view that noble progressive ends justify almost any unethical means to obtain them. The media is unapologetically fused with the Democratic Party, the bicoastal liberal elite, and the progressive agenda.
