I always hated the "Goodbye, New York" genre of writing. "Good riddance," I’d think. "More room for us."
I was raised in Brooklyn, my husband in Queens. Our three children were born in Manhattan. I was a New York supremacist. Your city is fine, really, it’s just that it’s not New York. It’s not even close. I’ve been to your city. Yes, I’ve been to that deli or that restaurant. That one street, it’s wonderful. But it’s not comparable to the greatest city in the history of the world. It’s just not. So it’s with some sadness and a lot of anger that I feel our family

Just remember, leave any leftist ideas in the trash before you leave NYC.

My niece told me about a nice older retired couple who moved to Kentucky from California. They were sick of crime, sick of squalor, sick of high taxes and the general malaise that has infested California cities. They sold out, bought a nice house here in Kentucky and have money left over. They are NOT going to vote for any progs here.

Our daughter and her husband left Washington state (Everett) and moved to Florida several months ago, partly because they like warm weather but mostly because of the left-wing politics here. (Our daughter works for a company that lets her work from home and this started before the china flu began). They love it and have asked us several times if we would think of moving also. At our age, it's pretty hard to leave the place where you were born and raised. My husband's mother and grandmother were born in Seattle so the roots run deep.

It may be flattering that NY, Ca, etc. people may wish to move here to Texas, but I fear they just won't be able to leave their mindset, and politics behind. People don't change just because they move to a different location. For me - I would just as well that they stay where they are.

Bill "Deranged" de Blasio.........
"An election for Mayor of New York City was held on November 7, 2017. Incumbent Democrat Bill de Blasio won reelection to a second term with 66.2% of the vote against Republican Nicole Malliotakis."

As a Tennessean we are more than happy to welcome freedom and America loving folks to our state.
Sadly, with all the NY, IL, and especially CA car tags I see, I highly doubt they all left their wacko bat poop crazy progressive liberal ideas behind.

My neighbors just moved to Florida from Massachusetts. They found the people there friendly, and less uptight.

I was born in Manhattan and had two children born here but while pregnant for my third found it was not a child friendly borough. But no way was I ready to leave NYC. We bought a house cheap in Staten Island, the forgotten borough and the only conservative one. We love it and had three more here. This borough has all the benefits of a big city but we vote republican and will stay and fight for another Giuliani or Trump to save our beloved city.

To paraphrase King Edward in the movie "Braveheart", "The trouble with New York is that it is full of New Yorkers!" New York was a great city (if you like cities). It can be great againIf New Yorkers want to restore their city to its former stature, don't leave, stay and try this: REJECT SOCIALISM! EMBRACE FREE MARKETS AND FREE ENTERPRISE! GET GOVERNMENT OUT OF THE PRIVATE LIVES OF CITIZENS!
Simple as that. Trust me, it will work; and it will work quickly.

Karol, My family moved out of Queens over 40 years ago because we couldn't take it. Not even 10% of 'it'. I think Beame was mayor.
If you've lasted this long, I hope you haven't become acclimated to life in The Big Apple and leave all your NYC 'idiosyncrasies' out of Florida. We like it here.
However, I wish you luck.

The only loser here is the state of Florida. I've run into many New Yorkers there and they do not change.

When I left Florida in 1958 the population was about five million and a lovely Southern State. It is now five times that.
Will Florida survive all these Yankees?
We go back every winter and I never hear a Southern accent. Such a pity.

There have been plenty of 'conservatives' who have moved south.
Far too many of them have not developed an inside voice. Far too many of them think HOAs and other rules-obsessed biddies are positive and productive. Far too many think taxes are 'the price we pay for civilization.' Far too many object to ATVs, dirt bikes, tractors occasionally using roads, farm odors, bonfires, loud music, and gunfire (from target practice).
As I write this South Florida is currently being converted to Manhattan South for no good reason other than NY refugees think it perfectly fine to have two dozen high rises in a six-block area with more on the way.

Welcome to the free state of Florida. Weather is great for most of the year. No snow or sleet to deal with. No state taxes to deal with. Road infrastructure is 20 years behind the population increase. You do have to deal with an occasional liberal and their nonsense, but not too often. Enjoy the freedom. You won't regret it.

Sadly, even the Yankees who move South and vote right so damage. They change the culture. They change the language. They change our way of life.
Some are very nice people, but they are Yankees and we don’t. Red anymore. We’re full.
Sorry to be that way, but Yankees have ruined all our major cities and are now infecting our suburban counties.

I was born in Brooklyn in 1959 and lived in NYC until 1995. I still have relatives there and go visit often, but the NY I grew up in no longer exists. The years of 'diversity' now see neighborhoods full of people who dont speak English. The whole liberal experiment of social engineering is a complete abject FAILURE. Except of course, where THEY live. In gated communities behind high walls with private security.

And like far too many other NYC folks will bring that obnoxious NYC driving, living and voting habits with her, I will bet.
Learn to drive POLITELY, not aggressively, and we DON'T care how you did it in NY, we don't care how wonderful this and that were in NY. And don't vote for gun control and more liberal mess when you get there.

I never had the desire to live in this "greatest city in the world," so beloved by Ms. Markowitz. One of the biggest reasons was the attitude displayed by Ms. Markowitz, the not-so-subtle superiority complex she developed and displayed from merely living in a particular place, as if that was a personal accomplishment of some sort, and not merely a quirk of geography.

For those who worry that their State will change when people move to their State from say CA, let me tell you as a Californian and a family who lived in CA from before WWII 1941, we were not happy at all to see our State, California, change over the years from Ronald Reagan as Governor to Gavin Grusome.
We lived in the Bay Area and watched liberals moving from the East to warm California and the 1960s/1970s Big Tech Revolution/Silicon Valley aka Santa Clara Valley/County where Apple and others were born. San Jose, CA was a sleepy little town before the Big Tech boom.
As years passed, we watched our schools being taken over by liberals who taught of 57 genders, global warming and other liberal agendas, but not math and real American history.
We watched teachers who were Marxists become leaders of the local Teachers Union. But there were other teachers who wanted to teach traditionally, but were pressured by Staff to conform. The 3 R's weren't taught anymore. Cursive writing was done away with when global warming became more important to teach.
CA was once a traditional, conservative State many years ago before the invasion of liberals. That is why we moved to the freedom of Idaho and left our life long home of CA.

New Yawk is a sh-thole full of braindead libtards. I speak French, have 2 post graduate degrees, was a partner in an international law firm and would never consider living in provincial Manhattan. The residents are below me intellectually. They get their talking points from the New York Slimes, a viewspaper for leftwing morons

I have no desire to ever visit New York again. We were there sometime in the fifties. Did the tourist thing...Empire State Building, Lady Liberty, etc. A nice trip but even then at ten years old a lot of the people were sphincters. I don’t think I want them moving to Georgia unless they are die-hard conservatives.

So often when driving in the southern states, along the I-95 corridor, I run across some particularly obnoxious, dangerous, rude driver. About 80 or 90% of the time the license is from NY or NJ. They really are obnoxious people.
