Supreme Court allows lawsuit challenging
Texas abortion ban to continue, but keeps
law in effect for now

The Supreme Court on Friday ruled that a federal lawsuit by abortion providers challenging the constitutionality of Texas’ new ban on abortions after roughly six weeks of pregnancy can proceed against some defendants even before the law is enforced against anyone. However, the Supreme Court allowed the Texas law to remain in effect during that challenge, which will proceed in a lower federal court. The ruling does not address whether a majority of the Supreme Court believes the ban is unconstitutional.

Roberts joined with the OTHER liberals - Breyer, Kagan, and Sotomayor. Considering what Roberts concurred with in Whole Woman's Health v. Texas, he's will NEVER vote to overrule Roe v. Wade or Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Assertions by the media that the Supreme Court has a "6-3 conservative majority" is FAKE NEWS. Gorsuch wrote for the majority, which SLAMS, SLICES AND DICES Sotomayor in a manner seldom seen. The importance of Whole Woman's Health is that it voids Texas' attempt to make an end run around the U.S. Constitution's Article VI, which in pertinent part reads: "This Constitiution . . . shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State [including Texas] shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State [including Texas] to the Contrary notwithstanding."

After Special Counsel John Durham last month charged the primary source of the Steele dossier with lying to investigators about a Trump supporter providing its most explosive allegations, some high-profile journalists who made a connection between the supporter, Sergei Millian, and the dossier have retracted their published reporting. But others have resisted doing so — including Yahoo News' Michael Isikoff and Mother Jones' David Corn, who co-authored a book erroneously linking Millian to the dossier.

Russiagate is the biggest scandal in American history. Nothing comes close in size, scope or harm to the republic than the years-long effort to cripple Donald Trump’s presidency by claiming he conspired with an enemy state to steal the 2016 election and then do its bidding as commander-in-chief. Its notorious predecessors – L’Affaire Lewinsky, Iran-Contra, Watergate, Teapot Dome, Crédit Mobilier, the XYZ Affair – involved relatively small numbers of malefactors engaged in specific acts of illegality and corruption (we still don’t know who, if anyone, planned the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol)

Does Justice Sonia Sotomayor even read the briefs in cases before the Supreme Court? I ask because the cases don't come any bigger than Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which addresses Mississippi's limit on abortion after 15 weeks. The Court is being asked to overturn the 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade and 1992 decision in Planned Parenthood v. Casey. I joined two other female physicians (a neonatologist and an obstetrician) in an amicus brief detailing advances in fetal science that have happened since 1973. During oral arguments, Justice Sotomayor displayed abysmal ignorance of the most basic scientific and medical facts about developing human life.

Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., will resign from Congress to become chief executive officer of former President Donald Trump’s fledgling social media company next month, the group said Monday. Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, will start as CEO of Trump Media & Technology Group, or TMTG, in January. The press release from TMTG came hours after documents revealed that the SPAC that plans to merge with Trump’s company had been contacted weeks earlier by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Former Senator David Perdue is about to throw his hat into the ring for the Republican primary race for the nomination to represent the GOP in the November 2022 elections. The official announcement will come tomorrow, but today, his campaign has given a heads-up to the media. The winner of the GOP primary will face the incumbent Democrat governor Stacey “Tank” Abrams. From my point of view, this can best be characterized as “The Revenge of Trump Continues.” Perdue lost his 2020 reelection bid to Democrat Jon Ossoff.

So, here we are again: A new COVID variant has appeared on the world stage, this one called 'omicron,' supposedly originating in South Africa. It’s already been detected in Europe and Canada, and the inestimable Dr. Anthony Fauci opines it’s a matter of “when” not “if” it’s a major factor here in the U.S. With Pavlovian predictability, the Democrats have shifted into an even higher “Vaccinate Now!” overdrive gear. This new strain is being used as the latest club with which to pummel recalcitrant vaccine resisters into shame and submission.

In an under-reported but important revelation, Governor Kemp issued a letter last week acknowledging 2020 general election problems in Georgia. In fact, his office investigated a list of 36 specific problems which were raised by a concerned Georgia voter, Joseph Rossi, and validated every single one. Governor Kemp referred the findings to the Georgia State Election Board (SEB) for investigation. From his letter to the Board: “To determine whether it was appropriate to refer Mr. Rossi’s claims to you, my office tested the veracity of his work by independently repeating the research Mr. Rossi conducted on each of his 36 claims.

That, at least, is how the Washington Post interprets today’s oral argument in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The team of five (yes, five) Post reporters that covered the argument writes: The Supreme Court on Wednesday signaled that it is on the verge of a major shift in its abortion jurisprudence after hearing nearly two hours of arguments from attorneys for Mississippi, an abortion provider from the state and the Biden administration. NRO blogged the argument, and its team reads it the same way. (I missed the argument due to a doctor’s appointment and haven’t read a transcript.)

I've never heard Dr Anthony Fauci's cell phone voicemail greeting, but I imagine it says: 'Yes, I'll come on your show.' For someone whose day job is supposed to be leading America's scientific and medical war against Covid-19, he seems to have an incredible amount of spare time for self-promotional media interviews. Barely a week seems to go by without him popping up on TV or in newspapers and magazines, and as time has gone on, Fauci's become more and more brazenly political in those interviews since the Biden administration took over.

President Biden has signed a series of executive orders to make the federal government carbon neutral. The Democrat president on Wednesday ordered federal agencies to purchase electric vehicles, harness wind, solar, and nuclear energy to power facilities, and to use sustainable building materials. The goal is for the federal government to stop adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere by 2050. In the next decade, Biden wants the government to cease purchasing electricity produced from sources that emit carbon dioxide. By 2035, the administration wants all new federal cars and truck purchases to be zero-emissions. Right now, only about 1.5% of the government fleet is electric vehicles.

Vice President Kamala Harris told reporters that Friday's Supreme Court ruling leaving in place a Texas abortion law was 'an attempt to undo 50 years of precedent.' The court ruled Friday that a lawsuit by abortion providers in Texas can move forward but left the ban on abortions after about six weeks in place as challenges are being litigated. The high court punted the law's legality. Its action today sends the case by abortion providers back to a district court, which could lead to it being suspended.
