It’s not many fourth-graders who can impress the Wolf of Wall Street. But Jordan Belfort — the trader-turned-felon who inspired the Scorsese film — snapped up a painting this week by 10-year-old painter Andres Valencia. So did “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara. Channing Tatum and artist Shepard Fairey also stopped by Andres’ booth at Art Miami after hearing about the prodigy. And he already knows how to play the celebrity game: “I’m so happy [Vergara] bought my piece,” Andres told The Post. While most fourth-graders are finishing up their homework and playing Fortnite, Andres — who has been painting since he was 4

I guess his paintings appeal to some people , but to me it shows promise, but I wouldn't hang that crap on any wall in my house.

I am no fan of modern art but his use of color and shading shows talent.

Being praised for crap like this is child abuse. People that buy garbage like this have more money than common sense.

He may be talented.
But a 10 year old has nothing to say.
Actually meaning or saying something is what transforms a mere decoration art.

Right on, #7, the boy is channeling Picasso and as such is an example of what my expert ironworker father used to complain about many of the young men coming into his craft: These guys want to learn the tricks of the trade before they learn the trade.

fta: Andres’ work ranges from $5,000 to $20,000.
Gee, he's a piker compared to mega-sensation Hunter Biden.

I agree #7 & #8.
I prefer the art of Emilie Barton daughter of Paul Barton.
Emilie's mother and father are both accomplished artists and Emilie has inherited the gene. Plus
she has excellent instruction from her parents.

I come from a family of artists, and while the appropriate gene was absent at the time of my conception, I still appreciate good art.
And I usually hold modern art in disdain.
But there is something charming about this lad's use of color and form. And as he evolves, he will get better.

Buyers and patrons determine the value and success of any artist. I wish the kid well. But like nearly all modern art his work is indulgent. Once upon a time artists learned their craft and how to paint the human body, landscapes, etc., through diligent study and practice. Now anyone can create 'art' which is rarely better than can be found on any family refrigerator door.

I'll have my doubts until I see a video of the kid actually doing the painting, and without a Picasso anywhere in sight to copy.

He thinks he's Picasso, Jr.
I despise Picasso's later art. Some of his really early works show real artistic talent. Then he started this monster stuff.....yuck! Same for the kid's work. Yuck.

I guess copying Picasso makes one a prodigy. I've always felt Picasso dropped acid before painting, especially in his later years.

I paint some. This kid will develop and is really good with tones and shapes! Especially for his age!
