A federal jury has indicted Steve Bannon, the one-time White House adviser to former President Trump, after he failed to comply with a subpoena from the committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Bannon faces two charges of contempt of Congress after he failed to appear for an Oct. 14 deposition before the panel. “Since my first day in office, I have promised Justice Department employees that together we would show the American people by word and deed that the department adheres to the rule of law, follows the facts and the law and pursues equal justice under the law,” Attorney General Merrick Garland

This AG only follows the rule of law when it can be used against those he considers this Administration's political enemies. In the meantime the law doesn't apply to rioters, looters, mandates that go against the Constitution and the FBI plants that instigated the January 6th trespassing in the Capital. What a farce.

The same DoJ that wouldn't lift a finger when the crooked Eric Holder was the subject of the exact same sort of subpoena. DC is corrupt, top to bottom, front to back. And ALL the mechanisms of "law enforcement" have been totally corrupted by this vicious crew of thugs-with-badges. The only way back seems to pass through the hell of a civil war. There seems little chance of getting back to the rule of law via laws and courts.

Remember when Eric holder was indicted for ignoring a congressional subpoena? Me neither. Or when Obama ignored the subpoena for the Solyndra documents? Or when treasury officials refused to appear to be questioned by congress regarding illegal Obamacare subsidies? Appearing in response to a congressional subpoena is only required if you're a Republican

Those of us who watch the very excellent news show War Room are not surprised. Bannon speaks, really speaks truth about and to power, including wimp Republicans. He isn’t afraid to name names. Excellent former Trump officials like Kash Patel may go on FOX but they are not free to really tell us the truth as they do on War Room. It is the closest thing we have had to Lou Dobbs sin e he was run out of FOX. Both political parties and the Feds desperately want Bannon GONE. This is one man who also really really needs our prayers.

It took the Democrats about a week to issue a subpoena and get a grand jury indictment. The Republicans, we have been told, cannot issue a subpoena. Certainly, they never have.

Bannon should regard this as a badge of honor. Contempt for the extremely slim socialist margin in the present congress is just common sense. Sadly, these days common sense is not that common.

It appears that Austria and Australia will soon have more in common than most of the letters in their names. We previously learned that unvaccinated Australians will be looking at being essentially confined to their homes for the foreseeable future following sweeping new government mandates. But now the government of Austria is preparing to follow suit. Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg made the unofficial announcement on Friday, with an official order expected in the next few days. After seeing another surge in new COVID cases, Austria’s government had already put a number of restrictions in place, but under the new order, there won’t be any wiggle room left.

Thousands of demonstrators descended on to Melbourne’s central business district on Saturday, protesting against the Victorian government’s new pandemic powers and vaccine mandates. The protest, which included signs advocating violence against politicians and a man carrying a prop gallows with three nooses hanging from it, came as the state recorded 1,221 Covid-19 cases and four deaths. Wet weather did not deter the crowd, which chanted “kill the bill” and “sack Dan Andrews” as it blocked tram lines and marched from the Victorian State Library to Parliament House in Spring Street. Many held signs that likened the Victorian government to oppressive regimes

Former New York Times columnist and now Substack star Bari Weiss led off by turning her newsletter over to the founding president of UATX, Pano Kanelos. Although recently the proud president of a school devoted to the Western canon’s great books, Kanelos lamented the sorry state of American higher education.

The standard premium for Part B, which covers outpatient care and durable equipment, will be $170.10 next year, up $21.60 from $148.50 this year, said a senior official for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on Friday. The program’s trustees had estimated this summer that the premium would rise to $158.50. The deductible for Part B will be $233, up $30 (14.8%) from this year. The bigger-than-anticipated increase is partly attributed to rising prices and utilization
