Dramatic footage shows the moment panicked diners flee Philippe Chow in Manhattan amid a shooting over a Rolex watch — an attack that police are now probing as a part of a string of luxury-watch robberies in the Big Apple.Surveillance camera footage shows two male suspects exit a car and walk toward the upscale Chinese eatery in the Upper East Side Wednesday night before they allegedly swipe a Rolex watch off the wrist of a 31-year-old man, sources said. The armed thieves then turned their sights on Melchior Cooke, 28, who tried fighting them off, according to police and sources.

NY is kind of like the old Wild West, but where only the bad guys are allowed to have guns.

I had a hard time following this story. I guess it's too early.

O.K. There is no physical description of the shooter but we do know the the gun they used was black.

31 years old with a Rolex watch? I never had one and never could afford one. Casio was the best I could achieve.

This story is kinda weird. One of the incidents mentioned involved $4 million worth of jewelry. Who in their right mind wears that at night in NYC?

This is a very poorly written article. Difficult to believe that it took 5 authors to write this piece of shoddy garbage.

Stay away from NYC, enter at your own risk. The once great city is in total shambles thanks to DeBlasio. What a shame.

Should flyover-country residents be concerned that New York residents turned their city into a jungle? I don't know what's worse, armed thieves who drive high-end cars or people who wear jewelry worth six figures into that jungle, knowing that shiny objects are attractive to animals.

Snorkeling down in the Caribbean one year the boat captain advised everyone to remove all shiny jewelry. It attracts barracudas. I guess the guy never went snorkeling.

If there is karma in the world, that watch was a knock-off sold from a street booth in Chinatown.
#4, if it was a real Rolex it probably means that the guy is a drug dealer.

NYC, where you get dinner and a show.
#4, the economics of NYC and environs is truly out of whack compared to the rest of the country. A few years back, but post 2007 the families were in for the Christmas show at Radio City for the weekend. The waiter at the Times Square restaurant floored my 81 year old pop by telling him he was looking forward to being promoted to banquets, because then he’d be earning real money…..not the &175,000 he brought home last year, but significantly more.
Crazy money everywhere. Incomes in line with COLA. Nuts.

Based on my experience of riding the northern federal amtrak route that transports feral antifa between chicago, minneapolis, and portland during bidens mask mandate; the violation of the mandate is a more severe and enforceable crime then the violent act.

Boxer Bernard Hopkins like to poke fun of the extravagant spending of his fellow fighters. One of my favorite lines: You've got a Rolex. I've got a Timex. They've got the same time, Fool.

When I was in Army basic training in 1968 our first weekend pass we could leave the base everyone fled to N.Y. or Philly. On Sunday when everyone reported back to base almost everyone was wearing Rolexes. They were fake ones when a hustling panhandlers approached the men in uniform. I never intend to go to N.Y. but if I did I wouldn't even wear a 'knockoff' Rolex if the hijacking thieves are stealing them off the person wearing one are armed why get shot for a fake Rolex. Wear your Timex or Casio but nothing too fancy looking. I have a vintage Elgin that looks just like my father's Rolex Presidential I changed the band to not have it look like a Rolex it's a dangerous crazy world out there now.

To paraphrase Rooster Cogburn…”when you go easy on rats, you get more rats”.
All the big Dem run cities are turning into dangerous ****holes. No bail, catch and release, charges dropped by Marxist DAs, etc. All have led to the current massive increase in violent crime. The ferals have no fear of punishment and now feel entitled to rob and murder at will.

NYC is a place that I have never really been comfortable. I have visited perhaps a bit more than 15, maybe 20 times over the years. Occasionally I found a really nice little deli or sweet shop, or a neat buffet take out dinner in a tiny corner store, or a cool camera shop. Sometimes we went to some of the tourist attractions like the Empire State Building, a Broadway show or the aircraft carrier Intrepid, which a relative served on.
I did some research business at the Brookhaven National Lab on LI, visited a co-worker's home, and took some Russian physicists to the beach.
Ultimately, I was never comfortable there and a few times, pretty unhappy a couple of times at being in an iffy place at a iffy time. The good news is that I will probably never return.
NYC always had me on yellow alert, being forced to be unarmed in the most dangerous place I ever visited.
I don't see why people stay, especially now that the crime rate is through the roof, and the police seem to be ineffective.

#9, after having twice had a barracuda hit him hard on the large, round chrome old fashioned two hose regulator while SCUBA diving off of Key West in the early 60s, he painted the 4-5" chrome regulator housing, right behind his head, flat black. No more problems. He was afraid a 'cuda would miss and take off an ear or something.

As the article failed to give a description of the shooter, one can only conclude that they were "sons of Obama". The lack of description is usually a stylistic substitution for Black in these articles.
