WASHINGTON -- Inflation at the wholesale level climbed 8.3% last month from August 2020, the biggest annual gain since the Labor Department started calculating the 12-month number in 2010. The Labor Department reported Friday that its producer price index — which measures inflationary pressures before they reach consumers — rose 0.7% last month from July after increasing 1% in both June and July.

Anyone with more than 6 working brain cells (which leaves out all lie-berals) is only shocked that it only went up that much. I was personally expecting double-digits from my recent visits to the grocery store. Under biden-nomics, our economy is doomed. We might as well go out and spend some money today while it still has a little value.

It's funny how prices go up when gasoline prices double in 8 months due to refusing to renew drilling leases on federal land, in the Gulf and shutting down the Keystone pipeline (and becoming an oil dependent country when 9 months before we were an oil producing country). And that's before turning our currency into complete toilet paper. Yep. It's funny, that.

Consumer prices soon to follow. My usual 25 buck run by the grocery store today rang up at 43 bucks. The gas tank on my truck seems to be getting bigger. I used to fill up with 42 bucks worth of gas. Now it holds 80 bucks worth. By November 2022 I'll probably have to ride my bicycle to vote.

Thanks to President Vegetable, our currency will soon be Zimbabwe dollars. In January this year, the price of a gallon of gasoline where I live was $2.15; now it's $3.85. The price of a gallon of my orange juice has gone up by $2.00+. The price of a simple baguette I like went from $1.99 to $2.59 this week. Thanks so much, Vegetable.

I’m not sure what Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) thought he was going to get by pushing a vote on the Democratic effort to federalize elections (which they call ‘voting rights’) and on the filibuster. Schumer knew that he was likely to get a “no” on the filibuster from Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). They’ve only been holding fast on the subject for months. Both also were very firm on the subject in speeches — Sinema earlier in the week and Manchin earlier on Wednesday. It wasn’t happening, they said. But Schumer decided to commit electoral suicide anyway, and he got it tonight.

Prior to the withdrawal, Biden told Americans the operation would be safe and orderly, but

Senior Senate Democrats are insisting that universal mail-in ballots and voter drop boxes, measures included in their election overhaul legislation, help to fight racism. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota Democrat and chair of the Rules Committee, said the federal voting measure is needed to counter what she called efforts by some states to suppress the vote. “They’ve rolled back things that they’ve changed during the pandemic, like witnesses for mail-in ballots in South Carolina,” she said. “No matter which way they did it, it all adds up to one thing. And that is voter suppression and limiting people’s freedom to vote.”

The Carhartt apparel company is the latest to find itself in the middle of the COVID-19 wars after an internal memo informed employees the company would forge ahead with its vaccine mandate despite a Supreme Court ruling striking down President Biden’s testing requirement on unvaccinated workers. In a letter that circulated online, CEO Mark Valade said workplace safety is key and the ruling “doesn’t impact that core value.” It also said an unvaccinated workforce represents a risk the company is “unwilling to take.” The letter kicked up dust in the Twitterverse, with #BoycottCarhartt trending for days, while some said they’d double down on orders in support of the company.
