When the hijacked planes hit the twin towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon that first 9/11, the Taliban were in control of Afghanistan and providing sanctuary for al-Qaida.Today, the Taliban are in control of Afghanistan and providing sanctuary to al-Qaida. What then did our longest war accomplish? The Afghan army and government we stood up and sustained for decades has collapsed. The U.S. military has withdrawn. U.S. citizens and thousands of Afghans who fought alongside us have been left behind. The triumphant Taliban of today are far stronger than were the Taliban of 2001 who fled at the approach of the Northern Alliance.

No we are not. Not in any respect. Start with the patriot act. Then go to the lawless, made up, post constitutional nightmare we are living now. If we ever recover as a nation it will be a miracle.

Did Pat forget that the American people elected - with the most votes ever - a guy whose son is a documented bribery channel? Hunter has some great connections in China and 81 million Americans voted to make his dad President. When is that art sale btw?

We should have put about a four warhead nuclear strike on the Tora Bora area that Bin Laden was in and called it good.

Given the long list of American military adventures that either never end, or end in disgrace, perhaps the USA needs to put down that 2x4 it unfailingly applies to its forehead. Not mentioned anywhere is the US interest in any of these actions, especially its forays into the Middle East. We protect everyone else while we jeopardize ourselves. Our "allies" very quickly figure out that the US is a cheap mercenary if the "cause" is right. Vietnam was a lesson forgotten; Afghanistan should be the lesson never forgotten. The USA cannot gift freedom and liberty, and not all people seek American-style democracy.

Are we better off, No? We were physically attacked which was an act of war as Islamic Muslims did it. That should have put them on a enemy list. What did the government do? Bush declare shortly after being a Muslim was a religion of peace that's when it started. Less than ten years after a Kenyan Muslims was place in office to head the nation. Now we are being swamped with more Muslims unvetted from Afghanistan and award the terror group Taliban with our armament in short we surrendered. No, we are worse off and it's a matter of time, it's close now, that we quit recognizing the horror of 9-11 to appease an element in our society who hate it. Remember a certain elected congress person said, "somebody did something" yes they did it was her people, Muslims. It only took twenty years it's like forget Pearl Harbor to appease the Japanese. We're lost and doomed to appease enemies there is less future now we might as well cancel Christmas too.

Only in the sense that we now know how corrupt, incompetent, unworthy of respect or obedience and deserving of removal our federal government is.
Thanks to President Trump.

We are right back where we started from, except the enemy is now armed with lots of our weapons, we are much deeper in debt, and have muslims in congress. Laws enacted to catch terrorists were used to spy on a presidential campaign and to falsely smear that president for years, and journalists are spied on and unmasked by the NSA for political reasons - all with impunity. Democrats are the domestic enemy we all need to fight against.

We forgot (or seemed to not have the stomach) to win an armed conflict with extreme prejudice.

Yes #12 and that is why media turns the anniversaries into focus on the emotions because its all the survivors HAVE. They NEVER got anything like justice. Shortly afterward, Dubya began doing things like appointing Muslim advisory folks (CAIR) all through the government to lecture all of us how to be delicate about the “religion of peace.” The day is never called what it was - the MURDER on LIVE tv of 3,000 Americans. The Saudis skated - thanks Dubya. The Muslims HAVE their various educational “centers” right in the TT footprint as they wanted. And the final victory for islamic terrorists what evil Biden and his masters did to Afghanistan. We did not have the guts to arrest and execute those who flew into that tower. We are way way off due to evil on one side and the sheer cowardice of the other. But hey look at the bright side.
God bless our dedicated brave soldiers. You deserve so much better than you ever get from your civilian leadership.

Sorry staff. Correction #13. We are way way worse off now due to the evil enemies on the left and the sheer cowardice of the other side. Bright side? The defense contractors made billions over the last 20 yrs and greatly enriched Congresspeople and Senators.

Forgot to add to my previous post (#10) that the DHS, which was created after 9/11, now has as its highest mission to find white supremacists instead of its original intent. W was a waste. Where is he now that his accomplishments are being flipped to use against American citizens? But at least there are no more mean tweets, right?

The War going after terrorists was hijacked (as usual) by the Money Grubbing Politicians and their Sycophant Corporate Bribe providers in the Defense Industry. Sell More Bombs, we need them...
I was in Viet Nam, and I can tell with 100% certainty it was not about Communism, it was purely about making Crooked Politicians and Defense Contractors RICH and OUR young died and were maimed and paid for ALL OF IT...then our VA abused them and refused to pay for their injuries for years...it's still a MESS!
Tell me this, if we started our involvement in WW II and won both the European and Japan Wars in around 4 Years, How is it possible we could not win in Afghanistan in 20? Simple, no one gets rich in just 4 years of war so it's dragged out.
We should have killed ALL the terrorists in the Middle East in less than 3, then mopped up the trash, Then LEFT. IF they started again, same formula.
Soon they would run out of terrorists...No prisoners, No Quarter, PERIOD! THAT is how you win WARS, there is NO other way!
