Fact-Checked: Gavin Newsom Shouldn’t

In an interview performance that has been described as “unhinged,” “odd,” “testy,” and “angry,” Gov. Gavin Newsom claimed Texas middle-class families “pay more taxes than middle-class families in California.” “Look that up,” he said in a virtual meeting with editorial and opinion writers from the McClatchy chain’s California newspapers. “That’s a fact” But we didn’t have to look it up. We already knew he was wrong. Having just completed a policy brief outlining the exodus of businesses and residents from the state, we were familiar with the heavy tax burden that is laid on all Californians.

He’s a moron so he may believe that. Then he should ask why are people fleeing Kalifornia? They can’t take the good weather?

My personal 'fact check' based on numerous first-person trips between LA and Houston proves to me that pump prices for gasoline are higher in CA than TX by about $1.50/gallon. Some of that is directly caused by higher tax rates, but the rest is caused by higher costs for everything else...the owner of a gas station in LA is paying more rent, taxes, salaries, etc, and he will necessarily roll those costs into his pump price...or go out of business. On the consumer side, that $1.50 difference will be reflected not only in everyone's direct cost to fuel their cars, but in the price they pay for every consumer item that is transported by truck. The article also failed to mention another cost having high impact on middle-income residents. The cost of living in CA is much higher than TX simply due to rental rates, which are at least 4X higher in LA than TX for comparable properties. And those rental rates must necessarily reflect the compound effect of state taxes on everything, or, like the gas station owner, the landlord will go broke.

I lived in CA for nearly 50 years. I've been in Texas for nearly 20 years. I saved about $8k a year here in Texas. Why then are all of the Californian's moving here to Texas. The biggest difference is California is opposite Texas. Taxes is Texas spelled the California way.

I agree with #5. Unless the vote to remove Newsom is big, corrupt precincts in the population centers will “find” enough votes to nullify the legitimate “Yes” votes. Mailed ballots can be received for a week after Election Day. Ballot harvesting is legal. Everyone receives a mail in ballot. I have friend who has lived in Chile for five years who received a ballot. I’ve seen no adds urging voters to vote “Yes” on the recall. I’ve seen a few ads from some of the replacement contestants, none particularly good. I think Newsom will survive and then there will be hell to pay. Statewide mask mandates, maybe lockdowns. Newsom, restrained by the recall effort, will go full Mussolini.

Really? Sales tax: TX - 6.25%; CA - 7.5%. Income tax: TX - 0; CA - 8% on $91.5K of income (married filing jointly). To put $91.5K of income in perspective, the median price for a single-family CA home is $500K+ and climbing. Unfortunately, the fix is in and the lying idiot will not be recalled.

Candidate Joe Biden said last October that we were nearing the “most important election of our lifetime.” He was right. What made it so crucial was keeping him out of the White House. President Joe Biden is visibly exhausted. His mental decline that began long before the 2020 election appears to have now gone straight over a cliff. The first seven months of his term have depleted him so thoroughly that the toll taken by eight years of the modern presidency look mild in comparison. His errors and poor judgment continue and compound.

A cold-blooded murder in a city northeast of Dallas over the weekend hasn’t exactly made national news – yet. But it could be the first in a new wave of terrorist attacks spawned by President Joe Biden’s disastrous retreat from Afghanistan. On Sunday, the day before the last U.S. military plane departed the Kabul airport, a gunman shot and killed a Lyft driver in Garland, then drove the car over to a nearby police station and started shooting at the people inside. The alleged gunman, later identified as Imran Ali Rasheed, died after police gunned him down. The next day, an FBI official said that Rasheed “may have been inspired by

While fearmongering has made its way around the world countless times, the truth is still pulling on its boots. So what is the truth? It’s quite straightforward: Antarctic sea ice has been growing. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the continent’s annual maximum sea ice has grown for three straight years. The annual mean is increasing,

When it comes to the media, Americans’ overall trust has been waning for some time, as numerous surveys show. But the decline isn’t uniform among all groups. Even before the recent crisis in Afghanistan, which brought renewed criticism to the media, a clear split over the trustworthiness of the U.S. media emerged, data from our latest I&I/TIPP Poll confirms. That includes a wide divergence of opinion by gender, race, region, political ideology, schooling, and even income, showing a nation divided not just by its politics and ideology, but by how it views its basic news and opinion sources.

For the past several years, global terrorism was in retreat and had dropped off the list of Americans’ fears entirely. Now, after the debacle in Afghanistan, it’s suddenly front-page news again. Will a revival of terrorism be President Joe Biden’s legacy? Rewind the tape to 2015. ISIS – which emerged as a powerhouse after President Barack Obama’s decision to evacuate Iraq – was claiming huge swaths of land, to the surprise of Obama (who had dismissed ISIS as the “JV team”). And, not coincidentally, the number of terrorist attacks spiked.

A day after at least 13 U.S. soldiers were killed at the Kabul airport, it’s still unclear how many Americans will be abandoned in Afghanistan by the Biden administration. What we do know, though, is that most of the U.S. weaponry in the country will not be recovered. It’s as if Joe Biden himself was the military procurement chief for the Taliban. Until Thursday, there had been no U.S. combat casualties in Afghanistan since February of last year. But a bloodbath that the entire world outside of the White House saw coming arrived,

At a press briefing on Tuesday that was ostensibly about the unfolding disaster in Afghanistan, President Joe Biden opened his remarks by touting the $3.5 trillion spending disaster that Democrats are trying to ram through in Washington. Biden has spun a web of lies to defend both. “Today, the House of Representatives has taken a significant step toward making a historic investment that’s going to transform America, cut taxes for working families, and position the American economy for long-term – long-term growth,” he began.

When President Joe Biden met with this year’s WNBA champions Seattle Storm in the White House on Monday, he took a symbolic knee, apparently to show he’s Woke. No surprise. He just took a knee before the Taliban, too, after the terrorist group’s humiliating rejection of his request for an “extension” on his Aug. 31 deadline for evacuating Afghanistan. Biden’s plans, if you can call them that, to get Americans out of Afghanistan have been an epic disaster. It’s almost impossible to exaggerate the incompetence and duplicity of Biden and his administration.

The American Medical Association (AMA) is calling for the "immediate end" to the use of ivermectin to treat COVID-19, and for doctors to stop prescribing it for that purpose, amid a spike in the use of the drug. Ivermectin, often used as a deworming agent in animals and sometimes for humans, is not approved to treat COVID-19 and has not been shown to work for that purpose. Poison control centers have recorded a five-fold increase in calls related to ivermectin, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
