Even as suicide bombers attacked the Kabul airport on August 26—killing, at this writing, at least 12 U.S. servicemen and scores of civilians—visitors to the Al Jazeera website could read an interview with Khalil Ur-Rahman Haqqani, the Taliban official and U.S.-designated terrorist who is responsible for security in the Afghan capital. "If we can defeat superpowers, surely we can provide safety to the Afghan people," said Haqqani, whose guards brandish the helmets, night-vision goggles, small arms, and camouflage the Americans left behind. "All of those people who left this country, we will assure them of their safety," Haqqani went on. "You’re all welcome back in Afghanistan."

The Taliban completely control the airport area. Seventh paragraph raises the damning question - how did the bombers get by?

Didn't we consider the Taliban to be the enemy as recently as a week ago? And they are suddenly our Afghan partners (that reference is in official communications from the Pentagon)? What jackass thought that turning over our security to a 20 year foe that just overran the country was a good idea? In what clown world do we live in?

Of course he did, Surrender Joe would rather do business with Terror groups than his own Americans. Abandonment Joe will leave civilian Americans behind in Afghanistan rather than miss his "mission accomplished" moment. Al Queda and ISIS will gladly use the Americans as terror fodder - beheading a few every other day. A real mission accomplished Joe.

We’ve been paying the Taliban to secure our supply lines for years. So this latest betrayal is the logical conclusion to ending this non-war war.

So why did the Capitol Hill cop come out? 0 replies

After months of supposed hiding, the Capitol Hill cop who shot unarmed pro-Trump protestor Ashli Babbitt at the Capitol, Lt. Michael Byrd has come out of the woodwork to talk about his shooting, in a softball interview with NBC's Lester Holt. Which is weird stuff, given that for months his identity had been concealed, by investigators, Congress, and other supposed watchdogs, on the grounds that revealing it to angry Trump supporters was too dangerous, and whose investigative conclusions excused him from accountability. Now he's come out -- telling Lester Holt of his great heroics. He doesn't even need to, having been exonerated repeatedly. The most likely reason is this lawsuit,

America's longest war is ending as it began, with the nation mourning the dead of a terrorist attack and an outraged President vowing to hunt down the culprits in Afghanistan. The bloody coda to a tortured 20 years -- the loss at least 170 people including 13 US service members in a blast outside Kabul's airport on Thursday -- exemplified the human tragedy and ultimate futility of a conflict that failed in its core purpose: purging Afghan soil of terrorism. In a cruel irony, the latest Americans to die perished in an attack conceived in the very same land

President Joe Biden tacitly admitted Thursday that some Americans in Afghanistan would remain in the country even after troops were withdrawn on August 31. “We will continue, after our troops are withdrawn, to find means by which we find any American who wishes to get out of Afghanistan,” Biden said. The president said his military commanders told him the mission to get Americans and Afghan allies out of Afghanistan by the deadline would succeed. But Biden defined the mission as “to get as many people out as we can within the time frame that’s allotted” — not staying until every American is evacuated. White House press secretary Jen Psaki acknowledged

President Biden spoke to Americans on Thursday, nearly nine hours after the first attack on the Abbey Gate at the Kabul airport, after being MIA all day. “It’s been a tough day,” Biden began, adding that he’s “been engaged all day in constant contact with military commanders” in the Pentagon and Department of Defense. Biden’s affect was flat throughout the speech, except for a few moments when he read some tough-talk off the teleprompter. He stumbled badly in the first few minutes of the address to the nation, sounding more defeated and confused than resolute.

The Supreme Court struck down the Biden administration’s eviction moratorium in a 6-3 decision on Thursday. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the moratorium earlier this month to cover counties with “high” or “substantial” coronavirus spread, which as of Wednesday included the vast majority of counties in the U.S. The order was issued after a previous nationwide moratorium instituted during the Trump administration expired on July 31. “It would be one thing if Congress had specifically authorized the action that the CDC has taken. But that has not happened,” the Court majority wrote in an unsigned opinion.

During an address to the nation Thursday evening, President Biden vowed to “hunt down” the terrorists behind the bombings at the Kabul airport and said the U.S. military will continue to evacuate American citizens and allies despite the disruption. Biden spoke hours after two bombs were detonated outside the Hamid Karzai Airport in Kabul. One suicide bomber detonated an improvised explosive device at the airport’s central Abbey gate, killing at least twelve American troops and wounding 15 others. A second bomber detonated his device outside the Baron Hotel, near the airport’s perimeter. It remains unclear whether any Americans were killed in that blast.

Former President Donald Trump’s Biden ad might be even more than it appears. Trump’s Save America PAC just released one of the most devastating and effective presidential political ads I’ve seen in more than 40 years of watching them. Maybe the defining feature of an effective political ad is one that captures the zeitgeist, while simultaneously painting either your candidate with the positive aspects of it or the other candidate with the negative. One of the most effective ads of all time was also one of the most disingenuous — and in the world of presidential election politics, that’s really saying something. I’m referring, of course, to Lyndon Johnson’s famous/infamous “Daisy” ad

Despite Americans being stuck in Afghanistan and members of our military dying in attacks made on the Kabul airport, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other House Democrats have decided now was a good time to close up shop, leaving President Joe Biden with the Afghanistan mess. According to Fox News, Pelosi and the Democrats stayed only so long as to work on domestic legislative agendas and then left. With the Senate also out, Biden and his advisors are the only Democrats around to deal with the crisis. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy lambasted Pelosi and the Democrats over their seeming lack of concern as to what’s happening to Americans overseas:

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden will address the nation at 5 p.m. ET Thursday following a deadly attack near the Kabul airport in which a dozen U.S. service members were killed. The announcement of Biden’s remarks came hours after the White House took the unusual step of clearing the president’s schedule, following a deadly attack near the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, which also wounded 15 American service members and killed dozens of Afghan civilians. The violence added fresh urgency to the frantic effort already underway to evacuate tens of thousands of Afghans and foreign nationals ahead of Biden’s Aug. 31 deadline for the removal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan.

One of the things that disgusted conservatives following news of the bloody terrorist attack in Kabul that killed twelve Marines and one Navy corpsman was the fact that Nancy Pelosi, during a public appearance in San Francisco, not only didn’t mention, she was also in an exceptionally jovial, joking mood. My bet is that this wasn’t mere callousness on her part. (snip) I believe that the reason Pelosi is behaving in this way is to keep her base from realizing that something bad happened. It’s a form of gaslighting that involves her shaping their reality through lies, not to drive them crazy, but to keep them ignorant.

The deep grief on President Biden’s face as his eyes swelled with tears was painful to watch. But his personal suffering cannot exonerate him from the responsibility for what happened in Kabul. Nor can his obscenely shameful effort to shift the blame to former President Donald Trump and even his own military commanders be taken seriously. Biden says the buck stops with him, but he doesn’t really mean it.When the enemy strikes with deadly results, it’s somebody else’s fault. That’s not leadership and it certainly isn’t presidential.

One of the most effective ways for the MSM to shut down an inquiry into misconduct is to say it is all a conspiracy theory. Besides avoiding an unwanted discussion, the charge also invites scrutiny of the "theorist" instead of the issue itself. Notice how quickly some even start off saying something like "I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but..." Expecting their reaction, we have become almost trained to do this. But are there really no big conspiracies? It has been claimed that the phrase "conspiracy theory" was invented by the government to discourage the questioning of official explanations for important events, especially the JFK assassination.

In a move no one can grasp, U.S. officials in Kabul gave the Taliban a list of names of American citizens, green card holders, and Afghan allies, believing the Taliban would allow them to enter the militant-controlled outer perimeter of the city’s airport. Lawmakers and military officials are outraged. The insane move was designed to expedite the evacuation of tens of thousands of people from Kabul by the August 31 deadline. It also came as the Biden administration began relying on the Taliban for security outside the airport. ISIS-K has since set up forces around the soon-to-be-renamed Hamid Karzai International Airport.
