Chicago—Gerrit Cole will start for the Yankees on Monday when they face the Angels in The Bronx, in what will be his first game back since hitting the COVID IL after experiencing what he called “mild” symptoms. The right-hander was part of the team’s latest outbreak and said he doesn’t have an explanation for why they’ve been hit so hard by the virus this season—or what the players and staff can do differently. “If I had an idea what behavior I did or how I got it, I’d certainly advocate for an adjustment," Cole said Sunday before the Yankees played their series finale

Rep. Liz Cheney said Sunday President Bidens and Trump shoulder the blame for the unfolding “catastrophe” in Afghanistan. The Wyoming Republican and member of the House Armed Services Committee said during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week” the situation in Afghanistan was avoidable, and the fallout will tarnish the nation’s image on the world stage for years to come. “I think that, absolutely, President Biden bears responsibility for making this decision, but there is no question that President Trump, his administration, [former Secretary Mike] Pompeo, they also bear very significant responsibility for this,” Ms. Cheney said. “They walked down this path of legitimizing the Taliban, of perpetuating this fantasy,

President Biden must take responsibility for his decision to withdraw from Afghanistan, as Taliban warlords roll into its capital Kabul, a top US general has warned. General David Petraeus the former Commander of US and International Forces in Afghanistan, is calling the withdrawal a 'serious mistake' and says the decision could be 'catastrophic for the United States and the world'. 'This is an enormous national security setback and it is on the verge of getting much worse unless we decide to take really significant action,' Petraeus told host WABC Radio Rita Cosby. 'The outcome, whether it is the Taliban taking over the country or it's the kind of civil

Taco bout the future of fast food! Taco Bell unveiled renderings of its latest drive-thru concept—which features an elevated kitchen and “gravity-defying” food delivery system. The high-tech takeout spots will use a “proprietary lift system” to pass food from the 3,000 square-foot kitchen to the four drive-thru lanes sitting below, the California-based chain said in a news release Thursday. The fast-food joint will break ground on the first of the new restaurants in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota later this month.(Snip)The goal of the new Taco Bell Defy concept is to get diners-on-the-go back on the road quickly

A Brooklyn woman deftly navigated the rival gangs that controlled her East New York housing project for most of her life. Two bullets through her thigh and a drug charge inspired her to cooperate with the feds—a decision that got her killed. Shatavia Walls’s shooting death, which resulted in charges against three reputed gangsters last week, was the culmination of years dodging bullets in the Pink Houses she called home.(Snip)Walls grew up in Building 10 of the Pink Houses, which is aligned with the Ninedee Gang, court papers show. Border Patrol agents arresting a group of illegal immigrants in southern California earlier this week say they came under gunfire from the Mexican side of the border. Agents were about 250 yards north of the border near Otay Mountain and were taking the group of migrants to vehicles when they heard the incoming gunfire. The agents and migrants all took cover and a Customs and Border Protection helicopter responded, but couldn’t track anyone. Mexican authorities checked their side of the border and reported that witnesses saw people fleeing in a pickup truck and motorcycle.(Snip)The Monday shooting in California comes on the heels of several shootings

People with a PhD are the most hesitant when it comes to getting the Covid-19 vaccine, according to a paper by researchers from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh. Researchers surveyed just over five million US adults in an online survey, with 10,000 reporting that they were educated to PhD level. The report showed a surprising U-shaped correlation between willingness to get a Covid vaccine and education level—with the highest hesitancy among those least and most educated. Of those surveyed, 20.8 per cent with a high school education were reluctant to get the shot, and 23.9 per cent with a PhD were against it.

GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell called on President Biden to launch 11th hour airstrikes against the Taliban in Afghanistan, as the group comes perilously close to seizing the nation’s capital of Kabul. “It is not too late to prevent the Taliban from overrunning Kabul,” The Kentucky senator said in a statement Friday, Fox News reported. “The Administration should move quickly to hammer Taliban advances with airstrikes, provide critical support to the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) defending the capital, and prevent the seemingly imminent fall of the city.”
The message came after McConnell had what he described as an “urgent conversation” with Adela Raz,

A Teaneck woman who was attacked and suffered a broken bone in her leg in Staples last summer after asking a fellow customer to put on a mask has filed a lawsuit against the business. Over the past two weeks, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents have seized at least three batches of counterfeit COVID-19 vaccination cards that were being shipped to New Orleans. The blank cards, created to mimic those provided by the Centers for Disease Control, were seized at the port of Memphis between Aug. 4 and Aug. 10 after being sent from Shenzhen, China, according to U.S. Customs spokesperson Matthew Dyman.(Snip)Federal and local officials warned against buying, selling or using counterfeit vaccination cards. It not only puts you and others at risk, it's also illegal, according to Dyman. Use of a official government agency seal
Comments:
Agents in Texas also came under fire from people in Mexico, but why arrest anyone and incur court costs when they'll be released anyway? Migrants become New Americans the moment they set foot across the border, and Legacy Americans demand demographic transformation through mass immigration of poor people. Disband the Border Patrol and let everyone in. Use the Border Patrol budget to offset the local taxpayer burdens of free public education and free hospital care.
