PORTLAND, Ore. — People who live on Hayden Island say the homeless crisis and crime seem to be getting out of hand. They feel crime is rampant and, according to statistics, they're right. Portland Police Bureau data show crime on Hayden Island is the worst it's been in the last five years. Property crimes like theft, burglary and larceny make up the vast majority. "I don't feel safe," a resident named Judi told KGW. "It didn't used to be like this." Oftentimes, Hayden Island residents say they see stolen kayaks and boats pulled up next to two abandoned military vessels and

I suppose now they'll do the usual trick of the clueless liberal and move to somewhere normal that they can begin to pollute anew with their Leftist garbage.

Been waiting for the feces to hit the fan...police should ignore these minor issues and let the neighborhoods fend for themselves...its what they voted for.

I feel for the residents of Hayden Island. Where I used to live in South San Jose became like this, in major part because of CA Prop 47, which changed a lot of felonies into misdemeanors. I NEVER VOTED FOR THAT. Plus, the city councilman who represented the district where I used to live in misrepresented himself during elections. He said all the right things but once in office proceeded to support a very liberal agenda, following in the mayor’s footsteps. He lied to us. Increased crime is the result, and police aren’t going to stick their necks out in today’s political climate.
Crime is one of the major reasons why I moved to a rural community in another state. I was driven out. I am not a liberal. And I support my local sheriff!

FTA: Their other cars have been broken into multiple times, with catalytic converters stolen and windows smashed.
A former colleague of mine reports rampant theft of catalytic converters in Denver. Apparently the metal content in the converters has scrap value.

When the police are stopped from doing their jobs by politics, this is what you get. Think hard about how you vote next time, folks. Until then....enjoy what you have created.
FTA:"They formed a neighborhood watch and are nonviolent."
LOL! YOU can be as "nonviolent" as you want. But the military has a saying, "The enemy has a vote".
What will these nonviolent neighborhood watch folks do if they run into a violent criminal? They will bleed.
Remember how George Zimmerman got the heck beaten out of him? By being a neighborhood watch guy in an area that had been experiencing a surge in crime. And if he had not been armed he would have likely been killed, his brains beaten out on a concrete sidewalk by that "poor oppressed little boy" Martin, who was actually a violent thief, much larger than Zimmerman.

Poster #8, same in Seattle.
I grew up in Vancouver Wa. just across the river from Portland. Jantzen Beach was a fun place to visit, there was an amusement park there with a very large Ferris wheel. I won a dollar once playing Bingo. Long, long time ago.

If you don't feel safe it's very probably because you're not.
If you're not it's very probably due to how you voted and how you treated your now vaporized police.
Lock your stuff up and when the next election comes around think before you vote.
Your police though won't be back because who wants a job where protecting morons can land you in prison.

No one feels safe anywhere. The felons have been released onto the streets. The borders are wide open, and neighboring countries have emptied their jails and sent them here.

When the government won't protect citizens and property, the citizens must take the law into their own hands.

Not one flea of respect for Oregonians. You voted for these nasty ugly snakes. Enjoy the ride, fools. But maybe, as with WA, portland controls the voting population. More people compared to less people in the hinterlands. I repeat my remarks.

I just looked on Google Earth and the island is very small and there are a LOT of 'floating on the water' residences...actually looks rather 'ghetto-ish' and I wonder where all their black water goes...hope it's not into the Columbia River....

They voted for the leftist and socialist government in Oregon that they are now experiencing that has great tolerance for violent crime and social instability in order to create a socialist utopia. They can either live with that indefinitely or vote the leftist and socialist scoundrels out of office in the next election.
