Progressive Democrats in the House of Representatives, led by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, are threatening to blow up a bipartisan infrastructure agreement if the Senate does not pass a $3.5 trillion reconciliation package. Ocasio-Cortez claimed on Sunday that she had “more than enough” votes to tank the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which Democratic Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and Republican Ohio Sen. Rob Portman introduced last Monday. Sinema pledged on July 28 not to “support a bill that costs $3.5 trillion,” leading Ocasio-Cortez to imply that she deliberately created an all-white group of senators to negotiate the package.

Comments:

The Squat may blow up the 1.2T boondoggle unless they get the 3.5T boondoggle first. Nanzi is backing the Squat, because she knows they will gut her like a fish if she doesn't.

Like all democrat creations, they get out of hand and eventually turn on or cause problems for their creators. BLM, Occupy Wall Street, ANTIFA, NARAL and the likes of AOC. Had Pelosi any real smarts, she would have squashed the squad 3 years ago. Now she has a real problem.....a nine seat majority. She can only afford to lose 4 votes. Pelosi will do whatever it takes to keep AOC and the squad happy. Which is smart short term. Long term it should be disastrous for the party.

I hope she does scuttle both of those bills. The money will go only to the blue states and leave the rest of us to pick up the tab. There is no definitive plan on exactly what they plan to do with the money, how much each project will cost and the estimated time for delivery. But, I know none of that money will head to my state, Florida.

A recent poll indicates that the number of Americans who do not desire assistance from the federal government has risen by double digits. The poll — carried out by Fox News — shows that Republicans are driving the 11% increase in Americans who want a less involved federal government: Nearly half, 47 percent, say the message they would like to give the federal government is “leave me alone,” up from 36 percent a year ago. On the other side, 44 percent say they would tell the government “lend me a hand.” That’s down significantly from 57 percent who felt that way last August.

President Biden is facing a potential foreign policy and humanitarian catastrophe in Afghanistan as the Taliban makes rapid gains, capturing major cities and prompting concerns over the safety of U.S. diplomatic personnel and civilians on the ground. The Taliban took control of Kandahar and Herat on Thursday, the second- and third-largest cities in Afghanistan after Kabul, followed by Lashkar Gar on Friday. The Biden administration is sending about 3,000 troops to the country to help evacuate diplomats from the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, as well as Afghans who have applied for special immigrant visas for helping the United States during the war.

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) tried to get the nominations confirmed at the end of an all-night session before the Senate left Washington until mid-September. In a floor back-and-forth that lasted roughly 50 minutes, and wrapped just before 6 a.m., Menendez and then Murphy went one by one through the list of State Department nominees trying to get consent to confirm them.

The governor and what’s left of his inner circle have been working the phones, fighting for his political life in the wake the damning Aug. 3 report detailing the sexual harassment allegations of 11 women and what investigators found was retaliation against one who went public. Cuomo, whose term ends Dec. 31, 2022, has ignored calls for his resignation as the state Assembly pushes ahead with the impeachment process, which lawmakers said could take weeks.

About 90 percent of the country will be covered by the ban as the virus’s delta variant spreads quickly throughout the country, Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said in a statement.

For instance, Biden told churchgoers April 1, they were being ungodly if they did not become vaccinated.
