Megan Rapinoe kicked up another round of controversy at the Tokyo Olympics—and now a group of Subway franchisees are pressuring the fast-food giant to give her the boot. The 36-year-old, purple-haired soccer star—who kneeled during the National Anthem to kick off the Tokyo Olympics before leading the United States to a bronze medal this week—began a stint as a pitchwoman for the fast-food giant this spring.(Snip)Now, many store operators—particularly those in red states—say they’re facing a harsh backlash from the parent company’s decisions. Last week, reps from the NAASF told members the group had already taken grievances

Had written them a note that I would never, ever touch another sandwich again as long as that dame blabs for them. Glad to know that others did the same or stopped buying. Actually, their stuff is not really 'fresh' at all. Someone checked their tuna and it barely had any relation to the stuff that comes out of cans, it was unrecognizable.

I definitely stopped eating at Subway when I saw the first commercial featuring this America-hating hag (and I used to have Subway for lunch at least twice a week)!!! With all the great, talented, patriotic American Olympic athletes they could have chosen from, what were they possibly thinking choosing her?!?!?!?!? I honestly don't miss them at all. I don't tend to "boycott" anything. Once you lose me, you have lost me for good. So I really don't see eating at Subway again.

I hate what's happening to the franchises out here in the conservative section of the country. Locally owned businesses are paying the price for a handful of woke idiots someone put in charge. If the franchisees have any power, they could install someone apolitical at the top. Of course, look at what we keep electing to make our laws.

I used to love Subway but stopped eating there years ago because the produce became so dreadful, wilted and stale lettuce, watery and half-melted tomatoes (and sour). Yet, I can go into any hole-in-the-wall Mexican place and get the freshest produce, crispy and sweet tomatoes, and light and crisp lettuce. Go figure.

One of the interesting discoveries that we made while doing a lot of cross country travel during the Dem-panic....west to the edge of California, east into Florida and SC, and to Mississippi several times, and Colorado many times is that when you are desperate to find lunch or dinner, and about down to going to a grocery story and buying a loaf of bread, some peanut butter and jelly and a 12 pack of drinks for dinner......Subways have almost always been open for business. I insist on indoor, sit down dining, will NOT eat in my lap in the car. And in many small towns, no mask hassle, even in summer of last year. Individual owners, doing what is best for their bottom lines and their customers. Guessing (now knowing) that some top level corporate idiot hired the purple haired witch, not the local owner-operator, I didn't hold it against Subways. Another place to trust to be open when traveling is Waffle House. Also individually owned, it appears, and staffed with hard working folks. I was never much of a fan for Waffle House, but now it is on my radar much more, because they stayed open. A construction manager friend built dozens of the western Waffle Houses for about 10 years, told me it was a super efficiently run company.

The current crop of COVID-19 vaccines may not be as effective against the Indian 'Delta' variant compared to the original strain of the virus, a new study suggests. The highly contagious Delta variant is the dominant strain in the U.S., and there are fears that it has a unique ability to cause breakthrough cases among those who are fully vaccinated.
