How Cuomo Got Away

There’s a frequently recurring narrative that plays out when a public figure is accused of sexual harassment: a chorus of defenders inevitably emerges to assert that the accused is actually a nice guy, historically respectful of women, and where applicable, has daughters who don’t appear to loathe him. Some of these defenders point out that the accused treated them well and never harassed them personally, as if that detracts from the credibility of the allegations. When two former staffers accused New York’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, of sexual harassment in February, this ritual chorus of defenders was nowhere to be found.

The beauty of the Cuomo saga is that he's pivoted the nursing home death scandal into a simple sex scandal, which leaves room for him to re-emerge later, excused as his being soooo hypermasculine and sexy (his PR folks used to trot out fake women proclaiming themselves to be Cuomosexuals). Former NJ governor Jim McGreevy did the same thing; he had his gay Israeli boytoy heading up NJ's homeland security department, despite no experience other than removing his trousers, among other scandals, and he got away with it after getting caught cruising highway rest stop toilets, after which he tearfully resigned office as a victimized hero because NJ was not ready for a "Gay American" governor. These DemocRATS know every trick in the book, and they get away with it every time.

I think that the left is going after Cuomo now because something else bigger and much worse is coming down the pike and they want him out of the way before it blows up. That way, they can say, “No big deal. We already got rid of him.” My guess is some video filmed at Epstein’s Pedophile Island will come out during the Maxwell trial.

But how about Biden touching, smelling, and pinching young girls and women? If you believe Tara Reade's account of her having been molested by Biden inside the US Capitol building, you have a first degree sexual assault right there, and of course the leftist Democrats have been yelling that women must be believed in those sorts of sexual assaults. But Biden up to today has been protected by the Democrats and the media, so there has to be a reason for Cuomo being piled onto by the Democrats, as it looks like the Democrats want Cuomo out of their political future ASAP, maybe the NY AG Leticia James wants Cuomo’s job?

One down. One to go. Now that Andrew Cuomo has resigned, his brother, Chris, must be next. They are, after all, both guilty of gross ethics violations. Before his “long-planned vacation” this week, it has been positively Orwellian to watch, night after night, CNN’s highest-rated primetime host blatantly ignore this huge, developing bombshell of a story, simply because he’d rather not — while informing upper management that he would continue to advise his brother, who also faces criminal charges and civil lawsuits.

Andrew Cuomo has announced his resignation as governor of the state of New York. This came on the heels of a damning New York Attorney General’s report detailing sexual harassment and sexual assault allegations against numerous women. Before his announcement on Tuesday, CBS News reported a state senator revealed that all 63 members of the state’s senate “were likely to vote for his removal.” Like President Richard Nixon, Mr. Cuomo’s resignation has nothing to do with him suddenly developing a conscience. Suppose he had one. None of this would’ve happened in the first place. What we get instead is a man who resigned because impeachment could bar

President Joe Biden is having a quiet week, but the decline in his popularity may be problematic for Democrats if it proves to be more than a summer slump. Biden's surprisingly steady approval ratings are starting to crater, though his disapproval numbers have consistently climbed during the first six months of his administration. That is a foreboding trend for Democrats before the 2022 midterm elections when the party is clinging onto power with slim majorities in the House and Senate.Barely half of the country approves of Biden's job as president, his lowest average rating since his January inauguration, according to FiveThirtyEight. That number is down from a 55% high in March.

A contagion is ravaging the Democratic Party, destroying the credibility of its leaders and scaring away its supporters. It is the deadly Hypocrisy Variant. The most prominent Democratic carriers of this infectious strain of duplicity are former President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Less significant Democrats who have tested positive for the Hypocrisy Variant are Rep. Cory Bush (D-Mo.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and the Texas Democrats who fled their state in order to hobble the democratic process.

When midterm elections loom just around the corner, most presidents push populist policies to lure Independent votes as a means of retaining their party’s majority in Congress. President Biden, however, seems to be doing everything to push middle-ground voters away. It’s almost hard to believe that Biden wants his party to retain control of Congress at all, given his performance so far. While the administration celebrates saving families 16 cents on Independence Day barbecues, American families face the harsh realities of misguided government priorities.

The summer in a president’s first year of office is often the moment the novelty wears off, and the limits to what’s possible come more clearly into view. It was when Bill Clinton, after a dreadful start, came crashing down to earth at 39 percent approval; when George W Bush fell to 50 percent (before 9/11), Obama was sideswiped by the Tea Party, and Trump collapsed in the early polling. It’s not dispositive, as all these examples prove. Presidents can recover from rough starts to two-term successes. And Biden has large public, bipartisan support on infrastructure (65 - 28) and his massive social spending proposal (62 - 32)

After months of repeated appeals from pollsters, consultants, and former officials, Congressional Democrats finally appear to be hearing the warnings that their party and their message is not resonating with voters. But with the party still firmly in the grip of radical progressive politicians and donors, Democrats may have already sealed their fate for 2022.According to a new poll commissioned by the party’s own campaign arm, the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee, Democrats are trailing Republicans by 6 points on a generic ballot among likely voters in swing districts. One of the residual effects of last year’s chaotic election is the palpable fear of former President Trump that still haunts the Democrats. Their congressional antics, from the absurd post-election impeachment to the parodic House investigation into the Jan. 6 “insurrection,” confirm that they are still very much afraid of the man (snip) This has nothing to do with any threat Trump or his supporters pose to the republic, as media alarmists insist. The actual source of Democratic trepidation can be found in their lackluster performance in the 2020 presidential and congressional elections combined with Trump’s clear intention to become very much involved in boosting Republicans in next year’s midterms.
