A US Army sergeant is thought to be the first Christian in the service to receive a religious exemption to skip the crew cut and grow his hair out.On July 25, Sgt. Jacob DiPietro of the Florida Army Reserve's 489th Transportation Company received the go ahead from his superiors that he could officially grow his hair in religious observance.'In observance with your Christian faith, you may wear uncut hair in accordance with Army uniform and grooming standards provided in Army Regulation (AR) 670-1,' a memo to DiPietro from Lieutenant General Gary M. Brito, the head of Army personnel read.

What Christian faith says you should wear a beard?

Now that he’s gotten his exemption, he has soured o the Army and is planning to leave at the end of his “contract”. Just another pajama boy, wanting his own way. Everyone is to bow to him. No wonder his pregnant wife left him and he has had so many things he considers to be troubles in his life. It’s a DIY job, fella… You are doing it. I don’t believe anyone in the Bible told him to do that.

He had his chance for an exemption by not enlisting.

Here is his religion. I am not clear how this reserve soldier planned to avoid corpses if he ever saw combat other than what he has been waging against the Army Reserve itself… Soon they will be rid of him because the Army is just too mean to him.

There are a number of Christian cults out there. So, he belongs to one that "requires" uncut hair. What's the big whoop? That he's not an Episcopalian, Catholic or Baptist? The guy's been around the Army a few years. He followed the rules in requesting an exemption. What's the beef?

The US military leaders are a complete disgrace. The damage they are doing to the morale of our young people will take years to recover from. If a recovery is possible at all.

The US military is a volunteer force. If you don't want to follow regulations then don't enlist. Good order and discipline means no exceptions.
God help my country.

This case is a "Trojan horse." Now soldiers can have Mohawks, blue hair, green hair, purple hair.
The "religious exemption" makes it look like this rogue military "accommodates Christians."
My BS detector is blinking.

This is a serious question and I’m not being a smart arse. Do Muslims in the military get to leave their posts five times a day to pray toward Mecca?

And beards are bad why? Sikhs, notably a group who has historically produced excellent soldiers, maintained beards and long hair without issue while doing commendable military service. I'd worry far more about transgender wackiness and women who meet lesser and at times dangerously lessened standards than random beard guy.

Wow! It's not like this guy is a Muslim or Sikh, Norse Pagan, or some other kind of heathen. He is apparently a good troop, a sergeant, who requested an exemption for his hair as a religious accommodation. Here he's accused of gaming the system, which is the equivalent of lying. The Army's morale and discipline is now on the verge of collapse becasue this soldier had the temerity to ask, and the Army approved his request. In my experience these requests are investigated for validity. The rest of the story:
Sgt. DiPietro won approval after a two-year process. DiPietro requested the accommodation in order to observe the Nazarite vow, a ritual originating in the Old Testament of the Bible, which states that for those observing the vow “no razor may be used on their head.” The policy that allowed his request was approved in 2017...so it wasn't some Obama plot to undermine the military. Reportedly in the spring of 2019, Sgt. DiPietro prayed to ask God what he could do to “recognize what you have done in my life.”
“I just felt utterly compelled that (observing the Nazarite vow) is what I was being called to do.”
So, again, what's the beef?

Jesus would never qualify as a Nazarite since he drank wine and touched corpses. So how is this a Christian religion?

My religion requires that I wear nothing below the waist. Where's my exemption?

Hmm...Christians, beards, long hair and angels. The army can grant an exemption for religious purposes, but why in God's name do the Los Angeles Angels allow their Trump-substitute centerfielder Brandon Marsh to look like John the Baptist, Rasputin or a sub-human Neanderthal? He can't hit, either.

Yeah, I'm sure the armed forces of China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran-- our enemies--- waste time on such nonsense.

So, now sincere religious belief is nonsense...is that right #19?
#15, exactly what constitutes a Christian religion? Jesus didn't sing hymns like so many Christians do, either.
#16 - Enlist and file the request...let's see what happens.

Sikhs fought bravely for England during WWII with little fanfare. It is the men as women soldiers I fear will mess up morale. M2F characters are known to harass lesbians for sexual congress.
