Truth and COVID-19

In the 1950s there was a quiz show called "To Tell the Truth."(Snip)A celebrity panel would try to discover which one of three contestants was telling the truth,(Snip)I thought of that show in relation to the conflicting stories and claims that have come from "experts" during the last 16 months of the pandemic. People, including two U.S. presidents, Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to the president, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director general of the World Health Organization, and Dr. Rochelle Walensky, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have all made statements(Snip)they claimed were accurate and based on science, but turned out to be inaccurate.

Comments:

Mr. Thomas suggests such a program would be entertaining, informative, and possibly elicit the truth. His contestant choices include Dr. Fauci, Dr. Ghebreyesus, Dr. Walensky, and President Biden with the panel consisting of Senator Rand Paul, Peter Doocy of Fox News, plus an American citizen having followed all government guidelines but contracted COVID and scarcely survived. “Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains to bring it to light.” (George Washington)

The "experts," with Dr.Fauci in the lead, keep claiming that they are the all knowing experts that follow the science, so sit down and shut up. There is a big problem with this. The "experts" have issued so many different and conflict opinions that, if there any truth in what they are saying, it is buried under a pile of false statements. Most of them are WAGs (Wild Arse Guesses) if not outright lies. There is nothing "scientific" about them. The truth about the origin of Covid-19 has taken a particularly hard beating. Dr. Fauci has been adamant that jump from bats to humans was a natural occurrence; it couldn’t possibly have been made in a lab such as the one in Wuhan. How it got from bat caves 700 miles away to Wuhan without intermediate stops along the way was never explained. Perhaps it is because Dr. Fauci provided funding to the Wuhan lab to do Gain of Function research which is prohibited in the United States.

Dr. Kobi Haviv is not just any doctor. He’s world-renowned for his work on Covid-19 treatments, particularly aiding patients who have acute respiratory ailments as a result. One would think an interview with him explaining the growing problems Israel is facing with Covid-19 hospitalizations would be newsworthy in the United States, but there has been a media blackout.(Snip)Because he had the gall to utter the phrase, “Yes, unfortunately the vaccine… as they say, its effectiveness is waning.”(Snip)According to Dr. Haviv, the vaccinated account for 85-90% of all new hospitalizations and 95% of “severe” cases at the Herzog Medical Center in Jerusalem.

OBERLIN — Investors bought $80 million in bonds last week to finance Oberlin College’s four-year geothermal energy conversion project. Following Stanford University, the Lorain County-based college is now the second higher education institution in the United States and third in the world to make use of Certified Climate Bonds for campus construction projects. The green financing avenue can only be used for projects that align with the Paris Climate Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius compared to temperatures before the age of industrialization.

If Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost gets his way, abortion rights will disappear in the Buckeye State and beyond. Yost didn’t specify his intention when he announced last week that he was joining 23 other Republican attorneys general in asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade when it decides a case challenging a Mississippi abortion law.(Snip) That could leave women without access to care they need or tempt them to risk potentially dangerous back-alley abortions. Abortion should be safe. It should be legal. And the decision to have one should be up to the pregnant women involved.

The Ohio Supreme Court has referred a request by several media outlets and support organizations to unseal evidence to a mediator in the lawsuit by Gibson's Bakery in Oberlin against Oberlin College. WEWS-TV in Cleveland and other petitioners had requested a writ of mandamus from the Ohio Supreme Court to force Lorain County Common Pleas Judge John Miraldi to release photos of Facebook posts by Allyn D. Gibson, the son and grandson of the owners of Gibson's Bakery, that were included in an exhibit during the 2019 civil trial, but never introduced in court.

When I went through RCIA the teacher said life is important. We cannot compromise on life. Protecting life starting at the room has been in our Catechism since the beginning. The left wants to eliminate the Hyde Amendment since it bars the federal government from using taxpayer money to fund abortions except to save the life of the mother. A reporter asked “devout Catholic” Nancy Pelosi about their crusade to fund infanticide with our money. She tried to deflect, but the reporter eventually forced out an answer from her.

ROME — Luis Badilla, editor of the semi-official Vatican news aggregator Il Sismografo, said Wednesday that Pope Francis’ health situation is “severe” and when he returns from hospital he “will never be the same again.” In his sobering blog post, Badilla declares that journalists and commentators are not doing the pope any favors when they downplay the seriousness of his illness. There is a very significant detail that many “underestimate, ignore, or manipulate,” he writes, namely that “the disease that has affected Pope Francis is severe and degenerative” and “could also be chronic.”

Former President Barack Obama has allegedly scaled back his big 60th birthday party after most of his supporters questioned the wisdom of holding an event for hundreds of people during a resurgent pandemic. Plans for the Saturday bash at his multimillion-dollar home on Martha’s Vineyard had been going on for months—but the spike in virus case numbers has forced a rethink. “Due to the new spread of the Delta variant over the past week, the President and Mrs. Obama have decided to significantly scale back the event to include only family and close friends,” Hannah Hankins, an Obama spokeswoman, said early Wednesday.

This is not just scientific madness, it appears to be very intentional and purposeful. The Moderna and Pfizer vaccine tests were conducted, as customary, with a control group; a group within the trial who were given a placebo and not the test vaccine. However, during the trial -and after the untested vaccines were given emergency use authorization- the vaccine companies conducting the trial decided to break protocol and notify the control group they were not vaccinated. Almost all the control group were then given the vaccine. Purposefully dissolving the placebo group violates the scientific purpose to test whether the vaccine has any efficacy; any actual benefit and/or safety issues.

Washington—The Senate moved closer to passing a $1 trillion infrastructure package Saturday after lawmakers from both parties came together and voted to clear a key procedural hurdle, but the action soon stalled out as opponents tried to slow the rush to approve one of President Joe Biden’s top priorities. The measure would provide a massive injection of federal money for a range of public works programs, from roads and bridges to broadband internet access, drinking water and more. In a rare stroke of bipartisanship, Republicans joined the Democrats to overcome the 60-vote threshold needed to advance the measure toward final votes. The vote was 67-27, a robust tally.
