Of masks and men; the weird
religion of COVID masks

Original Article

Daily COVID deaths and new cases are down to pre-pandemic levels in America. Even the CDC says masks are no longer required for vaccinated people. Heck, even school teachers are returning to the classrooms – sans masks – now that their demands for more money and less work have been met. Weirdly, however, many people are still wearing masks. In fact, I often see mask wearers driving around alone in their cars. What’s up with that? A little historical context is necessary. Dr. Fauci originally told us that masks were not effective. It turned out that he never really believed that. He was lying

"Weird" is right. I wonder what people will think about it 50 years from now.

You proudly announce you were vaccinated as part of the Pfizer drug trial. Are you really sure you were vaccinated? I thought drug trials were double blind in that some of the participants get the vaccine and some get a shot that is not the vaccine, perhaps only saline. If so you may have not been vaccinated at all.

Number 1: The author didn't say he'd been vaccinated in the Pfizer clinical study. He said only that he'd volunteered for the study. In any event, Pfizer unblinded the study in January, and told each participant whether he had received the vaccine or a placebo.

Here, in Utah, they're not even pushing vaccinations during doctor visits. I asked my doctor if she had treatment for sick people. She said, no. Only hospitals have treatments for those sick enough with covid! So, naturally, all symptomatic covid cases are now hospitalizations, too. They don't even have to lie on their paperwork.

I had covid. Not as bad as the last case of flu that I had but suitably icky and so I got tested (positive for covid.) Then I got tested a month later for the antibodies. Yup. Got 'em, too. But I also got the shots. Worst case--that it might kill me-- had the silver lining that I wouldn't have to live thru a biden (*) administration. But after being out of it for about 36 hours after each shot, I'm OK. And I'm 70... Why get the shot? Because the world I live in is stupid. They DON'T 'follow the science'. Everywhere I go, there are signs saying 'If you're vaccinated, you don't have to wear a mask.' NOT "if you're vaccinated OR have antibodies...." I'm in Ann Arbor, Mi. Land of the sheep. In stores, most people STILL wear masks. I, proudly, don't.

Religion is a system of beliefs by faith which is used as a basis for compelling a set of behaviors. What is it called when I don't have faith in the beliefs but I am forced into the behavior? A young person or one with antibodies is more at risk from the shot than they are from the virus. Why take the chance? In most cities there are cameras with facial recognition that record the time and place of every face they recognize. Driving with a face mask blocks these but the license plate is still recorded.

I'm 70 and I got the vaccine. I was never afraid of covid since my family is blessed with good strong disease avoiding genes. The only person in my family who got it was my daughter and she had one day of mildly icky feelings and that's it. Since I work in a university, I am surrounded by frightened people. Even though they are almost all vaccinated a lot of them are just sure that there's a 'rona virus out there and they will get it. I get so tired of it all. Do they expect to live forever?

Around here the members of the tribe that you see most often wearing masks are Black folks. Who either have been scared away from being inoculated by racist propaganda telling them that the vaccines have somehow been engineered by “White Supremacists” to kill them, or through leftist and socialist Democrat propaganda telling them that they should continue to wear masks in public even though it has been proven the the masks do not protect them from COVID that they are most apt to contract by close contact with others at home.

Am I the only one to see how today’s behavior on mask-wearing imitates Dr.Suess’s book The Sneetches? It was a story written to combat racism but has taken new meaning with the Left’s response to virtue-signaling mask-wearing. For those unfamiliar with the story, The Sneetches features two groups of Sneetches, ones with stars on their bellies and ones without. The Star-bellied Sneetches felt superior and refused to talk to the plain bellied Sneetches. All that changed when a man appeared with a machine that put stars on bellies. The Star-bellies Sneetches couldn’t handle being the same so they went to a machine that removed stars and then the race was on. Eventually you could no longer tell who was an original star-bellied Sneetches and who hadn’t had “stars on thar’s”. The behavior of the Left so very much imitates the “Star-bellied Sneetches” featured in the story. They just can’t be like us. Eew.

He starts off fine. Masks don't really do very much. Fauci is a liar. A mask can stop droplets from a sneeze....to some extent, sure. Stop a viral particle? Some, never all. YOU wearing a mask might possibly protect ME a bit, but ME wearing a mask does nearly zero to protect ME. But, Beaton goes totally off the rails into loony tunes territory very quickly. When a "conservative" writer writes something derisive like "They believed that COVID was a hoax ginned up by the likes of Bill Gates to implant microchips in us in order to monitor our thoughts." I just tune out. Being insulted with baloney like this by a writer who pretends to be a conservative moves Mr. Beaton, to my "on probation" list. Many other "conservative writers" have proven that they are not really conservative in the last 4 or 5 years. The list is too long to repeat here. It is a hard fact that these mRNA 'vaccines' use a previously untested, totally novel technology, completely unlike all previous vaccines ever made. It is a fact that more than 9,000 people have died immediately after getting their vaccination, and there have been thousands of other serious health problems like miscarriages, strokes, serious blood clotting, heart infections, heart damage and more. These aren't some conspiracy theories, that information is from the Dept of Health and Human Services' own VAERS medical database, and the total numbers of adverse events are almost certainly much higher since the database is voluntary. Derision and sarcasm from people about the very real concerns about the safety of these novel, minimally tested mRNA shots is not a way to inform or persuade. You stepped in it, Mr. Beaton.

I’ve observed, and many studies have shown, that conservatives are happier than the leftists that we used to call “liberals.” Conservatives are more generous, more married, more religious, more fit, more humorous and more optimistic. Unsurprisingly for a group with such traits, they have more and closer friends. They clearly love their country more. They work harder, they play harder, and they’re more likely to see meaning in life. I don’t think conservatives are that way because they’re conservative. That’s a big load to put on a political outlook. No, I think they’re conservative because conservativism attracts people who possess those qualities.

Once-beautiful Denver succumbed to vagrant enablement a few years ago. It was a pathetic attempt not to be outdone by Seattle and Portland – which have long sought not to be outdone by San Francisco. To be a great city, the thinking apparently goes, you have to be a filthy one. And so filthy vagrants overran downtown Denver and hip “LoDo” where they now camp on the sidewalks, poop in the gutters, shoot-up in the streets and assault passersby. The city is finally sweeping them, a little, in anticipation of its hosting of the baseball All-Star Game next month. Aware that the town will be on national TV, so far this year

Yesterday, Joe Biden held one of his so-called press conferences. With the aid of 3 x 5 cards, he speaks, sort of, in response to pre-approved questions from pre-approved reporters. In reply to their softball questions, he leaned into the microphone and whispered Freddy Krueger-like, all pasty white, wrinkled and weird, that “consequential” money would be flowing to people who vote for Democrats. The bizarre scene dubbed “Creepy Joe” immediately trended on Twitter. “Doctor” Jill must have 911 on one speed dial number and the guys with butterfly nets on another. The reason for Biden’s creepy breathlessness was that he and bipartisan senate negotiators had reached a one trillion-dollar “infrastructure” deal.

Now that racism has been outlawed in business, and racists have been driven from the public square, you don’t witness much racism in America. Being racist is a bad move socially and career-wise. That’s good. But black achievement in America still lags badly behind white, Asian and Hispanic achievement. The black illegitimacy rate is triple the white rate and the black murder rate is 7x the white rate. Both figures are worse than before affirmative action, worse than before the Great Society programs of the 60s and 70s, and even worse than the days of Jim Crow laws.

Which is to say they are a bastion of white privilege that deserves punishment. And so, it’s punishment that they are getting. You see, Atlanta is very woke. That means the police are handcuffed in their efforts to control crime. And that means crime rates in Buckhead are skyrocketing. And that means people who are not criminals – people like the residents of Buckhead – are disappointed and often endangered. It’s not about slavery. It’s about crime.

A recent Gallup poll showed that most Americans think it’s time to move on from the pandemic. But not the Democrats. Democrats say by a 71-29% margin that we still should not “live normal lives”, but instead should “try to stay at home.” That’s despite the fact that the COVID death rate in America is down nearly 90%, the new cases are down about 65%, over half of Americans have been vaccinated (and over 80% of the vulnerable ones) by vaccines shown to be 95% effective, and even the redoubtable (or perhaps doubtable) Dr. Fauci says we can go out now. So what gives?

Millions of sub-Saharan blacks seek to immigrate to America. They apparently haven’t gotten the memo that this is a wretched land of systemic anti-black racism. When they get here, they’re strangers in a strange land. English is usually not their first language. Their skin color tends to be very black, not the lighter color of American blacks who have an average of about 25% white blood in them. Despite those handicaps, they do better than American-born blacks. Compared to American-born blacks, their income is about a third higher, their poverty rates are significantly lower, their educational achievement is higher, and their marriage rate is double.
